Pokotho/Whale Song

-‘SeaWing’

-a strange blue glowing liquid pours continuously out of his glowing scales and eyes

-when underwater, this liquid dissipates into the water, and if it is breathed in by a SeaWing it makes them susceptible to his influence

-wears a white mask that seems to be made out of either porcelain or bone

-treated as a sort of urban legend in the Sea Kingdom

-Young seawings are warned to not follow any singing they hear in the ocean, even if they feel compelled to find the source

-has the ability to possess and take over the mind of his victims and turn them into a member of his hivemind

-they say those who follow the singing eventually are led to Whale Song in the deepest part of the ocean, who then adds them to the song’s hivemind

-When he takes over these dragons they become a part of him, as they are no longer individual entities but rather extensions of him, and no trace of the old dragon remains, they stay in the deepest parts of the ocean, eternally singing in a singular voice until he grows tired and ‘gets rid’ of them, forcing their gills to close and letting their corpses slowly float up to the surface in massive numbers, horrifying SeaWings and other tribes alike

-incredibly egotistical, despises every voice that isn't his own

-cold and unforgiving, and cares for no one but himself

-is one of the few dragons in the group who can be somewhat reasoned with, he can be persuaded to make alliances or deals with dragons who actively seek him out in order to get what he wants, though ultimately he has no loyalty to these dragons and will turn on them when it benefits him

-enjoys learning the wants and motivations of his victims, often actively seeking them out though this is usually as a way to actively manipulate them to do his bidding

Across the continent of Pyrrhia, spanning across most of the dragon tribes, there exist rumours, only uttered by those who dare to speak them aloud, rumours of monsters, of ancient antagonistic creatures known as the Wings of Black.

Each of the tribes have their own legends, stories so old no one is entirely sure if they ever were true to begin with. Very few know about their existence, and even fewer know that they’re related, that they’re a group rather than separate entities, named for the one feature they all share: wings as black as night.

They are said to be physically massive, almost the size of mountains, large enough to swallow an adult dragon whole, with unnatural, almost artificially bright scale colours. They all have the ability to take multiple different forms, including animals, scavengers, or even inanimate objects, but their dragon forms are the ones they use the most.

No one knows if they’re simply powerful animus dragons, or dragons warped into monsters, or even if they ever were dragons to begin with, maybe they are manifestations of madness and power. Only one thing is certain for those doomed to know of the legends, that being they are creatures of pure evil, whose only goal seems to be to cause as much suffering for their own twisted amusement.

They are able to drive dragons completely insane, using their eldritch magic to twist and bend minds to their will. They have the ability to bring out the worst in dragons, resulting in their victims committing terrible actions whilst under their spell.

There are rumours that some dragons, either brave or foolish, can actively seek them out and summon them to ask for a favour or some deal, though it will always end in them having the last laugh.

Keep in mind that I’ve already finished a few of the dragons for each set and as such some groups will take longer to finish than others if they are chosen first, I will eventually get round to doing all the groups I just wanna know what you guys would want to see first.

Random Once Upon a Witchlight Headcanons

(Cause I’m bored and decided I want to share with the class)

-Gideon has a really fast metabolism, and quite literally burns calories very quickly, the reason why he ‘needs to eat every 3 hours’

-Torbek grabs at his head or ears when in distress (like Andy sometimes does)

-Frost has certain sensory issues, most notably with specific textures. Whenever he accidentally touches any texture he cannot stand, he inadvertently sends out a small shockwave of psionic energy, that makes anyone standing too close to him feel his discomfort

-When goblins (specifically Gricko) feel threatened, they raise their arms up instinctively to make themselves seem bigger (like red pandas), or in Gricko’s case he just holds his arms out awkwardly (Inspired by that one moment in Ep 16 when FFGG reappears)

-Frost occasionally has some very cat-like mannerisms, such as purring when happy, knocking things off surfaces, or hissing when he’s freaked out. he isn’t ashamed of them though as he considers them a valid part of him and sees no reason as to why they would be embarrassing for him, even if they make his friends laugh

-Women actually can’t resist Torbek when he flirts with them. Not because he’s actually really charming and suave, but because they see him and think ‘I CAN FIX HIM’

-Frost usually does not realise when people are flirting with him, unless they directly say they’re interested in him

-Gideon is made stronger by alcohol, due to it being flammable and making his fire hotter. Theoretically it could work with other flammable liquids, but he prefers the taste of booze

-Gricko sometimes scrambles around on all fours (like a rat-)

-mandatory ‘Frost is autistic’ headcanon (as an autistic person myself I actually love and fully believe in this headcanon)

-Kremy occasionally does very alligator-like behaviours and actions when he’s distracted/tired/angry such as hissing, growling, or snapping at people when he’s irritated. He attempts to suppress these instincts but they sometimes get the better of him

-Kremy didn’t initially care about unicorns, but while he was under the effects of the fey enchantment, he grew to genuinely love them

-Frost is pan with male preference

-Gideon is bi with slight female preference

-Kremy is Demiromantic asexual gay (I cannot see him dating a woman and enjoying it)

-Torbek is unlabelled, he’d be happy if anyone of any gender or orientation wanted him

-Gricko is the token ace straight, but he is very receptive to any kind of flirting

I just realised I never actually posted the eddsworld dragon stuff from like a year ago so I might as well post it now. This is all the stuff I wrote down for the ‘Wingsworld’ AU regarding my interpretations of the Eddsworld characters in the world of Wings of Fire. pls bare in mind this was all written quite a while ago and I like to think my characterisation abilities and character design skills have improved a bit

-Accidentally figured out how to make a strange liquid from combining Storm’s melted frostbreath, Charming’s venom, sugar, water, and fruit juices that he became obsessed with, everyone else finds it absolutely disgusting, he usually carries around a little canteen full of it

Tom/Ice Storm (Storm)

-completely black eyes

-dull scales that lack the shiny affect most IceWings have

-cynical, pessimistic, and cold (hehe literally)

-Will eat basically anything (not greedy, just incredibly uncaring about the quality of his food), will eat rotten meat and old fruit, much to the disgust of his friends

-The only one of his friends with any kind of breath ability, his friends think it’s really cool and always try to get him to use it

-has a little brown dragon plush, about the same size as Oak’s pet scavenger

-plays a guitar that he carved himself out of a birch tree

-When he was younger, he angered a animus dragon who cursed him to turn into a huge uncontrollable monster version of himself if he gets too angry

-his monster form can’t use his frostbreath, and instead has massively increased physical power and firebreath, it also has dark purple blood and a venomous tail

Matt/Charming

Orange frill with mostly purple scales and green markings

-Enjoys wearing jewels, but has no idea how to colour-coordinate or style them so it usually just ends up looking cluttered and unflattering

-When his friends first saw his fangs they thought he was a vampire and were completely terrified

-All to happy to help Oak make his ‘Cola’ (he likes feeling needed)

-very much a hoarder dragon, has a huge collection of ‘treasures’

-incredibly vain, a firm believer that RainWings are the most beautiful dragon tribe

-spends hours looking at himself in lakes or any other bodies of water he finds

(Was gonna be a SilkWing but then I thought rainwing cause fangs and Matt was a vampire once)

Tord/Horntail

-also loves pigs, will fight Oak for them

-Left Pantala with Oak when they were young, originally from the Bloodworm hive

-Is the leader of an organisation aiming to take over Pyrria and eventually Pantala called the Crimson Claws

-Had either a wing or a front leg frozen off by Storm in ‘The End’

-stinger in tail with a painful, non-fatal venom

-does not get along with Storm

-suspicious of and inspects any new dragons that enter the house, despite the potential threat that they might eat her

-enjoys teasing Storm, who gets extremely irritated, but can’t do anything because Oak would get upset

-thinks she’s the smartest, when in fact she’s as dumb as the dragons

I attended another animation workshop and this time in the character design exercise made a dinosaur reading a book and I kinda love him

Also I’m aware he looks NOTHING like an actual dinosaur and the proportions are wack I was drawing from memory and trying to reference the raptors from Jurassic park and as someone who doodles dragons all the time made him MUCH too dragon-like but whatever what’s done is done

I realised something:

Crona (Soul Eater) and Jericho Sticks (Edge of Midnight) are REALLY similar

both are tall lanky socially-nervous characters with a penchant for writing depressing rhymes who were made by an evil witchcraft-using mother to fulfill a nefarious goal that they don’t want to do that involved the murder of innocent people and as a result of actions by their mothers are host to a mean demonic shadowy entity with cross pupils that bullies them

It is with a heavy heart that I must report that we gotta put ol’ laptop out to the pasture 😔

Fortunately it’s still under warranty so I’ll be able to get a new one soon-ish but still is a massive bummer. Hopefully all my documents and pictures and art can be recovered

Wings Upon a Witchlight: Dragon height comparisons

Now that I’ve finally got all the guys posted I thought I’d share this height reference chart I made.

Also yes I am currently making dragon versions of the other campaigns, next will probably be Uprooted

Twig Toadsprig - Sprig

-LeafWing/SilkWing hybrid

-a very small dragon, around the same hight as a scavenger (few inches shorter than Gecko)

-poor eyesight, so wears golden spectacles that are hooked to her horns and occasionally adjusted using her antenna

-very domestic, loves cooking and cleaning and can be very strict when it comes to keeping her home neat and tidy

-loves small animals, and tries to stick to a mostly vegetarian diet due to her reluctance to hunt

-likes to get high from hallucinogenic mushrooms

-has herbalist skills, very skilled in which herbs and plants have healing properties and which have harming effects

-has oddly powerful leafspeak, she can control flowers to use their harmful pollen on enemies, or knock them unconscious using spores

-When angry, loses control over her leafspeak and any nearby plants coil around her, forming almost an offensive cocoon/armour that can be used to attack via slashing/stabbing with sharp leaves and vines. Sprig does not have much control over her emotions when like this and often attacks friends as well as enemies

-has a small pet pig that she can communicate with

-lives in a small plant-constructed house that’s animus enchanted to be much larger on the inside and moves around on vines. When not currently in her house, she is able to compress it to the size of a coconut to them carry it around in a small satchel worn around her neck

-used to offer her home to any travellers who needed a place to stay for the night in exchange for a small trade before meeting the group

-sometimes likes to sit on either Coal or Bearcat’s backs when she doesn’t feel like walking/flying, who are both very gentle with her

-used to be a small hand-carved dragon statue before being given life by an animus

-while not an animus herself, was granted powers by one

-Abilities include:

Breathing an oddly powerful green animus fire

Poisoning via controlling plants

Healing via medical plants

Other NPCs cause why not:

-Remy Garou = NightWing Artificial Animus, physically huge and very old, seems to near constantly have dark smoke expelling from his mouth, pseudo-king of a group of swindlers that Gator used to be a part of

-The Good Baron = A near god-like Animus, original tribe is unknown

-Feathereen = pale blue SeaWing who works at an attraction at the carnival where she pulls around a small boat for visitors to ride

-Kettlesteam = NightWing Artificial Animus, was cursed to not have a voice of her own and can only mimic

-Zybilna = very powerful Animus, currently in the form of a BeetleWing

-Sir Talavar = very small purple SilkWing

-Agdon = RainWing/SandWing hybrid who leads a band of thieves in Pantala

-The Pixies = Very small SilkWings

-The Bullywugs = SeaWings who live in very swampy environments

-The Hobgoblins = violent RainWing group that wants to return to the days where RainWings were feared across Pyrrhia

Worldbuilding stuff cause also why not:

-Animus dragons are much more widespread and are a lot less feared

-they are also a lot less powerful, with most having a limited number of abilities they’re capable of

-most dragons have a bit of magic

-Pantala = Prismeer

-hybrids are a lot more common and accepted, also a lot less prejudice between the tribes in general

-while hybrids are a lot more common and accepted, they are still quite ostracised by societies, leading many to resort to travelling and mercenary work

-fire with unnatural colouring is due to the dragon having magic

-eldritch blast=magic fire

-animus magic infects the entirety of Pantala, and can cause temporary effects and enchantments on dragons or mess with their minds

-other monsters exist that are purely animalistic

Torbek - Bearcat

Almost an AllWing

-mostly MudWing, also quite a lot of RainWing

-mix of a few tribes, a bit of a mutt in terms of heritage, hard to tell what he has

-very tall, towers over normal-sized dragons, and most large dragons too, even slightly taller than Coal

-jagged uneven teeth with tusks

-tail is half-paralysed, he can’t move it very well and doesn’t have any feeling in certain spots

-while most dragons have their tails in comfortable resting positions when not intentionally moving them, his just drags on the floor behind him.

-has broken shackles around his wrists/ankles

-dislikes fighting and confrontation, something that most dragons find him pathetic for

-despite being physically massive, is intimidated easily by others, even dragons who are much smaller and weaker than him

-MudWing instincts means he craves companionship, he doesn’t remember his parents or if he has any siblings

-Acts most like a RainWing, which he and Gecko have in common, they often go climbing together (Gecko is much better at him)

-can eat most things due to his mixed heritage

-gets drunk from eating rotten fermented fruit

-used to be a vagabond, he had no home and most climates feel uncomfortable to him due to his mixed heritage conflicting with itself

-cannot remember anything about his past or childhood

-used to work at Gator’s travelling carnival as a carny, which employed mostly hybrids who often struggled to get work and so would work for cheap

-was experimented on in an attempt to a dragon with the abilities and powers from all the tribes, and he was chosen because he was already a mixed dragon

-has various abilities and traits from different tribes

-when too stressed or scared, he enters a state where he becomes completely feral with a single-minded focus to hunt his enemies down. Only the death of his target or utter exhaustion will trigger him to come back to his senses.

-After the experiment, a prosthetic tail stinger was added to his tail, which did actually slightly improve his ability to move his tail, and he can more easily move it to stab things in short bursts of movement

-He typically only uses his new abilities when in this state, such as his venom and tail stinger, he’s scared to use them normally

-grows temporary gills during his fight against Agdon (a RainWing/SandWing hybrid)

-the experiments performed on him heavily messed with his mind, including his perception of time, making him believe that it had been years since he had seen the rest of the group, even though for them it had only been a few months

-(the aim of the experimentation was essentially to create a ‘perfect’ dragon, with all the tribes abilities, that could be used as a powerful weapon. However, even after everything that’d been done to him, he remained mostly docile and non-aggressive. He hates fighting, and in combat situations will just freeze up, something that is very abnormal for dragons, and it utterly baffled the dragons who did this to him, as it was expected that the perfect dragon would be violent, ‘as dragons should be’)
