Just because DC are cowards who refuse to grapple with the fact that they made the 15 year old vigilante pregnant only to allow her to allude to it two (2) times after the fact doesn’t mean we have to be.
Take my hand. Let’s give Stephanie Browns pregnancy lasting thematic significance to her character and take into account the mental scars it likely gave her together. Let’s draw her with a c-section scar. Let’s draw parallels between Steph and Crystal and Steph’s view of motherhood and responsibility. Let’s talk about how despite purposefully making the choice not to know the gender of her baby after giving birth Steph genders the baby female on her deathbed.

can you talk about ollie and barry’s relationship?
probably the best way to describe it is...friendly antagonism? like okay rule of thumb is that ollie and barry do not agree on virtually anything. ollie thinks barry's an unrepentant bootlicker (true) and barry thinks ollie is too untrustful of authority (also true) and both of them think the other is a bad influence on hal (debatable). they will and have screamed at each other over their respective ideologies, but at the same time, they're neither enemies nor do they hate each other. in fact, i'd go as far as to say they respect what the other person does, even if they themselves don't agree with the method they go about doing so.
case in point, at some ambiguous point during their time in the jla, barry takes his old ring and repurposes it for ollie to fit his own green arrow costume inside, with a message that reads: "for ollie, run fast, barry." this is the same issue (green arrow 2001 #19) where ollie also explicitly says that barry is his friend. all in all while they don't exactly like each other enough to hang out individually, they've been forced into the same proximity so many times over the years that they're at least capable of having civil conversations that don't devolve into screaming matches. kind of like having a friend of a friend, i guess.

what rlly cemented for me that a lot of male comic readers don’t gaf about women was midway through watching a kyle rayner story recap. it got to the point where alex was fridged and the narrator explained how much backlash there was about it. he went on to say something along the lines of, “this happened because readers often grow used to the same old thing.” i expected him to finish that thought with “and alex was a semi-reoccurring character they had all grown to love.” instead, i had to listen to an explanation about how most readers (men ofc) read gl comics like they *were* kyle rayner, and it felt as though their own girlfriend had died. like oh okay??? so we only care because of an attachment to the male main character?? god forbid we missed alexandra dewitt for her vibrant personality and bravery. whatever

the misinterpretation of a lonely place of dying by later retellings drives me nuts because ‘tim finds out who batman is’ is nearly not as much of a big deal as ‘tim doesnt want to be robin’ in the actual origin and it pretty much sums up whats wrong with modern tim drake. ALPOD is a tragic story of a twelve year old boy who had everything and willingly gave it up for a greater good. he is not like dick and jason who became robin to escape tragedy nor bruce who had everything and then lost it. robin was nothing but a curse he accepted to bear and he did so because of his selflessness. that selflessness is his driving rod, his smarts and physical talent are only the tools he uses to achieve his goals. he is not ‘the smart one’, he is a sacrificial lamb for a cause he became an unwilling spectator of. a twelve year old boy thought ‘people need saving, its that simple’ and put on the clothes a dying kid not much older than him wore because of nothing more than his selflessness and everyone he loved paid the price for it. he paid an even greater price for it.
