Japanese Knot Bag
I decided to try to make a Japanese Knot bag, which I have seen multiple times on Pinterest. I had some Mills end cotton yarn that was white with gray flecks. I estimated that this yarn would take a 5.5mm hook. I cam across many different variations on this basic pattern. I settled on this one with some modifications. For starters, I was just going to make the bag in a single color. I also was…

Blue bag - stitch 80
Over the years, I have amassed a lot of cotton yarn. I have decided that I am going to start making (and giving away) bags constructed out of my cotton yarn stash. The design of this bag is based on this design, or this design, which I liken to a paperclip. The flap, front and back are a single piece. the 2 side panels are made and attached to the front and back portions. Then the strap is…

Oscar-worthy hot pad?
For the past several years, I have made an item to be awarded during our annual Academy Awards party. This year it was a star-shaped wiggle hot pad based on this pattern from Moogly . I used a 5.5 mm hook and some cotton yarn from my yarn stash. I started making the frame with orange yarn, then a variegated yarn (yellow, orange and green) from this pattern and then with some yellow yarn. For the…

Post Christmas Post 2 (Mosaic)
Several months ago, I decided to crochet an afghan for my sister for Christmas. She is a fan of the band KISS, so I wanted to use that as the theme. I purchased a graphghan pattern from Geeky Graphghans (it was really inexpensive). I then ordered (more than) enough Lion Brand Pound of Love yarn in the colors white and black. I then started crocheting the pattern, it was 200 sc across (with a…

Post Christmas Post number 1 (stitch 443)
As I have done in the past, I decided to make something to go with the gift I was giving as part of my office’s Pollyanna/Secret Santa/gift exchange. I has some Yarnspirations Caron Cloud Cake in the color Warm Sky. It is a very soft polyester yarn in the colors of pink, orange, purple and blue. This yarn used a 4.5 mm (size 7) hook. Here is how I made it: Ch 37 Row 1: SC in 2nd chain from…

Yes, another baby blanket - number 294
This past summer, a friend from my church asked me to make a baby blanket for him to give to one of his co-workers. In those situations, I usually suggest that the person buy the yarn i the colors that they want and I will make the blanket at no charge. Since I do not sell my items, asking the person to buy the yarn usually works in place of my getting paid. In this case it didn’t; as my friend…

1 stick of butter (4 oz) creamed with 1.5 oz brown sugar and .5 oz powdered sugar. Added 1 egg and 6 oz flour and 1 tsp vanilla. Baked at 350 for 15 min- did not look done enough so added 5 more minutes. I probably should have made them smaller (I used a medium cookie scoop - #24) and I should have flattened them.

Some Passover appropriate chocolate chunk cookies. I cut up a bar of Kosher for Passover chocolate bars (1 milk chocolate and 1 dark chocolate) I think some made of the chunks were too big. I only made 1/2 recipe. #passoverrecipes #chocolatechip
