Mark Harless: Photographer
Today I stumbled across Mark Harless, the mind behind bleeblu.com.

Like any and every creative field, competitive is a drastic understatement and photography seems to be suffering at the hands of Instagram wanabes who manage to somehow find filtered picture of a strip of bacon on the pavement “deep and meaningful”. Mark is anything but that, as you begin to understand as you flick through his photos.

While I was looking through his photos I started to say things to myself like "wow, he managed to capture a really retro feel in today’s modern society"… I have no idea about photography or how it works, at most I know if you do something to the ISO it gets lighter or darker, and something or the other about aperture, but in total I know f*ckall. So the fact that I go off on tangents about how good the art is when there’s no one around to impress really says something.

Long story short, Mark’s pictures are better than a few strips of wasted bacon.

Flying Lotus You're Dead Listening Party Review
If you have been following the articles on this site you will have noticed that we are very fucking excited for the new Flying Lotus Album so when a friend told me there would be a Flying Lotus You’re Dead Listening Party happening in east london I jumped at the opportunity to go. The party was held at the historic bass music venue Plastic People and tickets where limited to the first 200 people in the cue. As we finally got to the front of the cue we where searched and told to turn our mobiles off and then let down into a small pitch black room only lit by the green fire escape sign in the corner. Everyone was sat around on the floor and it felt almost like being back at school waiting for assembly to start though this didn’t last for long as a large bald gentleman shouted for everyone to stand up and shuffle forward. After about 20 minutes of listening to elevator music a bright red flashing light started flickering and the album began.
It would be very difficult for me to explain the album track by track as the entire album felt like one big piece of art instead of multiple tracks put together for a release. The textures and sounds remained quite similar through out the entire album from the heavily reverberated rhodes keys to the punchy and distorted live drums, through to the soaring electric guitars and scatty bass lines. The tracks did vary wildly in tempo and mood but the overall timbre and the instrumentation was similar on almost every track which made the entire album flow and made it a cohesive piece of work.
It is clear that Fly Lo has made a conscious effort to delve more into the world of jazz and psychedelic music with this album and I think this was a big gamble as he risks alienating some of his more closed minded fans. However I personally think the album was incredible and a seriously needed breath of fresh air in the electronic music scene.
Overall verdict, really interesting and experimental release definitely worth a listen.

Edgy Flip On Outkast Classic: Outkast - Prototype (AceMyth Remix)
Here’s something special, a reminder that the name of Outkast will live on despite the group announcing they will no longer be doing music. A brand new exclusive track released last week on the Trap93 music label made a huge impact on underground Trap fans. American Producer AceMyth provided us with a cool and edgy flip on an Outkast classic, reminding us why we love the group so much. This tasteful blend of Hip-Hop and chilled Trap was quiet vibrant and refreshing to the ears. Some may say even better then the original.
Quiet special in its own little way, the vibe will have you wanting more. Those familiar with AceMyth will know exactly what he’s capable of and will most definitely agree that this is one of his strongest productions. All with an extra element of a nostalgic touch most Outkast fans can relate to, this track has strength and depth to please many.
Overall a really great remixed track, we can be sure to expect a lot more from AceMyth in the future if this is the goods he’s producing. A perfect tune for you to sit back and relax to, so go ahead.

Lemon Lights tells us We Must Lose Our Loves
There are only a handful of producers making house and techno music at the moment that I am really into and Lemon Lights is one of them. His take on house music is a dark and ambient take on the genre fusing dark and moving samples with serious groove and weight. His first release the ‘Cloverleaf EP’ is 4 tracks that fit together perfectly and express this relatively new artists tastes. The standout track of this EP for me is the track ‘We Must Lose Our Loves’ which is a moody underground club track which isn’t a million miles away from what artists like DJRUM and Floating Points are making.
You can download the full release from Lemon Lights soundcloud page.

Artists Cover Up Leaked Nudes In "The Unfappening"
Given the recent and unfortunate debacle of leaked celebrity photos, a new website has emerged that presents a rather interesting and safe-for-work spin on the incident. At this point, any efforts to remove these images from the web would surely be futile, but the folks over at The UNfappening are here to help our favorite celebrities cover up. As for what the individuals pictured would think – including Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton and Ariana Grande – we may never know. However, we’ve picked out a few standout images to share including one of The Hunger Games star decked out in everyone’s favorite streetwear brand.

News Anchor Promotes Weed Legalization by Quitting Live on Air
The pro-marijuana legalization debate in the United States is heating up and inspiring folks to take a stand, including Charlo Greene of Alaskan news station KTVA. The (former) anchor Greene took to the 10 p.m. broadcast to report news about the Alaska Cannabis Club, which led her to reveal that she is the CEO of the organization. She gave a detailed-but-short explanation and announced her resignation in the most amazing way possible:
“I, the actual owner of the Alaskan Cannabis Club, will be dedicating all my energy toward fighting for freedom and fairness, which begins with legalizing marijuana here in Alaska. And as for this job, not that I have a choice, but fuck it – I quit.”
Greene later addressed questions via the Alaska Cannabis Club’s Indiegogo fundraising page, which raises funds for the organization to campaign in the states. Greene provided more information about her bold resignation:
“As a member of the media, I’ve seen the dirty campaign tricks and lies that prohibitionists have been using over the past several months to sway Alaskan voters firsthand. Here’s the sad thing: it’s working. Polling shows the majority of Alaskans, who were in favor of the initiative at the start of the year, are now against it. Few people fighting for marijuana legalization in Alaska are as media savvy, well educated on the marijuana industry, passionate, professional and completely dedicated to passing this initiative as me, the only person in Alaska that has had the balls to face the injustice of Alaska’s medical marijuana catch-22 and do something about it. My Alaska Cannabis Club members are right here with me, ready to fight this long overdue fight.”
We wish Charlo Greene and the Alaska Cannabis Club lots of luck and success on their journey to help legalize marijuana.

A Florida Woman Had Surgery to Give Herself a Third Boob, a la "Total Recall"
This isn’t a joke, and this isn’t a Total Recall cosplay convention outfit. A woman in Tampa, Florida recently underwent surgery to give herself a third breast. Of course Florida. Of course.
Going by the name of Jasmine Tridevil, she went under the knife to give herself a center breast in order in the hopes of obtaining reality star fame. Tridevil is trying to pitch her story to MTV with the plan to secure a reality show and, according to her Facebook page, is currently filming “her daily life in Tampa to show the struggles she faces because of her surgery.”
Tridevil noted that the surgery cost $20,000 and included a “nipple” implant. She had to ask over 50 doctors to do the procedure, and when she finally found one, she was forced to sign a non-disclosure agreement so he couldn’t be named in public.

Aside from the public recognition, she claims she underwent the surgery because she “wanted to make [her]self unattractive to men,” and was uninterested in dating.
We doubt she’ll have to worry about that problem anymore.

Every Celebrity With Hacked Nudes Has The Same Password
Realistically, it’s either one of two things. Either Rihanna, Jennifer Lawrence, Vanessa Hudgens and the rest of them all have the same password (which is probably just “password” since they’ve all been so easy to hack) or their PR teams leaked the pictures themselves.
It’s not unlike celebrities to fake a mistake that inevitably results in more publicity, Kim Kardashian practically owes her career to a strategically leaked sex tape featuring american R’n’B singer Ray J, so who’s to say she’s not doing it again.
It just seems very unlikely that so many celebrities would have the same breach in security. What I think it looks like is someone’s PR team released leaked some nude photos to boost their clients social presence (my money’s on Jennifer Lawrence) and once the other celebs PR teams noticed what’d happened, they retaliated with similar “hacked” stories and pictures to match.
Either way, I don’t think anyone’s complaining. This is one of the few “media lies” I think I’m OK with, you?

Kim Kardashian and Vanessa Hudgens are the Latest Victims of Hackers Leaking Nudes
More nudes have been stolen and published this morning thanks to some pain-in-the-ass hackers. The latest victims are Kim Kardashian, Vanessa Hudgens and Olympic goalie Hope Solo. They were posted on Reddit and 4chan but were quickly removed—Reddit has actually taken a stance for once and considers the photos a violation of its new copyright infringement rules, a policy that came after the whole Jennifer Lawrence thing.
It’s unclear if this is the work of the same people that hacked Lawrence and others. However, Kardashian, Hudgens and Solo were on the “Master List” that named tons of female celebrities that supposedly have stolen nudes waiting to be posted. Of course, Kardashian and Hudgens have already had their nude photos stolen and published, but that doesn’t make it any less violating. Hopefully these guys will get what’s coming to them—the FBI is investigating the original incident.
UPDATE: Rihanna and Amber Heard are the latest celebrities added to the second wave of nude leaks.

Ethereal | Believe // Father | Dame Fuego Teaser
I discovered these 2 rappers after they got slated by FACT recently in their single reviews and thought that this teaser was actually really good. The visual element of this track instantly reminded me of the ADHD video by Kendrick Lamar but much darker and stoned. This is a teaser of two tracks, The first being the track Believe by Atlanta rapper Ethereal and the second a track called ‘Dame Fuego’ by Father. Both tracks rely heavily on detuned pads, lots of reverb and grating sound effects. If you are looking for conscious rap and inventive word play this isn’t for you. If drugged out and hedonistic rap appeals to you then you should definitely check this out.

Review: SBTRKT - 'Wonder Where We Land'

Aaron Jerome AKA 'SBTRKT' brings us into the future with his sophomore album 'Wonder Where We Land' featuring an array of collaborators such as Sampha, A$AP Ferg, Jessie Ware and Raury, to name a few. Prior to this, Jerome released his EP 'Transitions', which acts as a bridge gap between his debut album 'SBTRKT' and 'Wonder Where We Land'.
The first track 'Day 1' sets the tone for the 'Wonder Where We Land', opening with a screechy, atmospheric synth that moves through chords wavily across the 35 seconds of song. It feels like a new start, a transition, although nothing that wouldn't be out of place on SBTRKT's self titled debut album.
Next up is the title track 'Wonder Where We Land' featuring veteran SBTRKT collaborator Sampha, whose smooth crooning vocal settles over this surprisingly relaxing beat. Never have we heard Sampha's voice being utilized like this, from pitched down vocal samples, reverse chops and even beat boxing part way through, SBTRKT puts Sampha's voice through it's paces. The bone rattling bass line that's introduced at the opening of this moody track glides smoothly underneath recorded piano, electronic blips and vocals marking a change from the upbeat warm synthy textures of the first album.
'Lantern' opens with techno arpeggios and wacky production that wouldn't sound out of place on a SBTRKT's recently released 'Transitions EP'. One of the rare tracks on the album without a vocal collaborator, this song buzzes with electronics and intricate melodies.
One of the album highlights of 'Wonder Where We Land' is one of the singles, 'Higher' featuring hyped up and coming vocalist Raury. SBTRKT takes a downtempo approach, grounding 'Higher' firmly in more Hip Hop territory, with soaring pads, vocals and a punchy beat. This is possibly the most accessible and catchy song on the album, being more straightforward in comparison some of the other electronic laden tracks.
'Day 5' is the second interlude of the album, this time switching electronics for, what sounds like, a recording of a brass band playing in the middle of a street. Simple but effective, creating a moody atmosphere for the second half of 'Wonder Where We Land'.
Next up 'Look Away' featuring Caroline Polachek from band Chairlift. Maybe the most experimental song on the album, featuring a prominent piano as well as Caroline's catchy vocals that you'll find yourself humming hours after.
'Osea' features fellow Young Turks artist Koreless, known for his spacy drum-less pieces of electronic ambience. In this song the two producers layer an increasing amount textured synth sounds, making something that wouldn't sound out of place on a Tron movie soundtrack.
The album's first single 'Temporary View' features the very prominent Sampha, who seems to be a SBTRKT staple. Maybe one of the most accessible songs on the album, this song twinkles with synths and clean half time drums. In my opinion the most catchy chorus on the album, Sampha at his best.
'New Dorp New York' is another single, maybe the most hyped track of the album, featuring Ezra Koenig of indie band Vampire Weekend. The booming bass line is the key element on this song, featuring acoustic drum sounds and Koenig's funky, sharp vocals over a simple bass drum beat. Although 'Wonder Where We Land' is quite a mixed bag, this song stands out as the most different, in comparison to SBTRKT's debut album.
The next song, 'Everybody Knows' is classic SBTRKT, being reminiscent of the warmth and brightness of his debut album. Featuring an undisclosed vocalist, the song simmers with subdued piano chords and tropical sounding beats.
'Problem Solved' features Jessie Ware, a Young Turks regular, appearing on Sampha songs as well as previous SBTRKT songs 'Right Thing To Do'. On this song we see Jessie move into more RnB territory, again featuring a prominent piano part, this song is a punchy but soulful jam that utilizes Jessie's soft vocals tones.
'If It Happens' is reminiscent of Sampha's 'Dual EP' being a simple stripped back piano ballad, progressing through chords, giving Sampha's voice fulls spotlight. Sampha's smooth silky voice seems riff over the song dynamically making this the most simple but effective song on the album.
Sampha's next cut on this album comes with 'Gon Stay'. Making use of Sampha's falsetto, SBTRKT makes an almost Samba like beat, featuring clicking drum sounds, Tom's and hi hats. It's very live sounding, which seems to be a recurring motif on this album, featuring real instruments but with some programming over the top.
'The Light' features Denai Moore, being a more low key song, made up of sampled piano sounds and clicks. Denai Moore's vocals really carry the song, being the main feature, providing beautiful harmonies over this dark beat.
The A$AP Ferg featuring 'Voices In My Head' sees Ferg vocalise over an acoustic hip hop beat with sustained piano chords. The intro features Ferg crooning over high cut keyboard chords before he launches into a ferocious rap proving he's a name to watch in the future. The drums are courtesy of Warpaint, making this one of the most unlikely but successful collabs on the album.
In summary, with SBTRKT's past two years being filled with live shows supporting his debut album, you can see that it had an effect on Wonder Where We Land. The album feels like a more live orientated album with electronic sounds added over the top, giving it a more experimental feel. Is it up to par with 2011's album 'SBTRKT'? It's hard to say. It feels like a grower. Of course, with a bunch of bonus songs on the way for the Deluxe Version of this album, we've still got more SBTRKT to come, which may even add to the album.

Disappointed Fans Slate Lauryn Hill on Twitter
Frustrated fans of Lauryn Hill took to Twitter last night to criticise the singer after she arrived an hour and a half late for a show at the O2 Brixton Academy.
The gig was the first of five UK performances in half a decade from the former member of The Fugees but unfortunately it was mired in controversy.
From the 90-minute wait for the singer to the supporting acts to technical issues, there were plenty of disappointed fans in the nearly 5,000-seat auditorium.
The warm-up act DJ Tieks left the crowd cold after he asked if any of them were from the West Coast of America despite the show being in London.
The fan ire was such that “Lauryn Hill” started trending on Twitter, with one user called Yuichi commenting; “Lauryn hill is the most disappointing concert I have ever been to. It’s heartbreaking.”
When Hill did emerge, her set caused further criticism when she performed remixed version of her hits and the sound quality and was booed by the audience.
She has only released one album in 1998, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, and an unplugged album, which may be why the revamped arrangements of her hits did not go down well with the audience.
I paid £50 a ticket for a DJ that asked which part of USA the audience were from (we’re in London) & an hour (or less) set from #LaurynHill

The show only picked up towards the end when she sang ‘Doo Wop (That Thing)’ but it came a little too late.
Amongst the detractors, some leapt to the singer’s defence. British author Bonnie Greer posted “Btw: Sorry to see @MsLaurynHill’s first show slammed on here. Unfortunately, geniuses are sometimes not up to our standards. #LaurynHill”.
