One second it was life as normal, and the next, chaos. That’s what the newspapers reported on that day in the 1960’s at least, an explosion that rippled from the ruins of the SENSUS Pharmaceutical Power Plant that was in Los Angeles. A freak accident, the media reported, wherein a rogue scientist went to lay waste to the company after losing his job. It was an isolated incident, nothing more, but the aftereffects that cascaded throughout the populace had become another story. A mist erupted, mixed with the embers and smoke of the explosion. A translucent green, near clear as the sky as it loomed over the city, dissipating within moments over the city and ocean.

Merely an isolated incident, they kept stating. Press releases came and went, the mere delusions of a madman hellbent on taking revenge over a mere office job.

However, the sudden rise of superhuman abilities gained by so called normal people kept unearthing- this was nothing to remain calm about, no mere "isolated incident", it affected people, and their bloodlines, and continued to dos so for years to come.

Life was no longer the same.

The small town of Old Elk may seem like a quiet place, but it's actually packed full of fun spots like Crestwood Mall, just built and finished in the last year 1984 full of shops, The Drive-In for all the romantic couples to hang and bang, Old Elk Diner, open 24/7, the Community Pool, constantly booming in the summer, and more.. The possibilities are endless! Just.. Beware of Elk Neck Forest. Lots of rumors have circulated about it… but, it’s probably all just stories, right? I hear the fair is in town, let’s drop all that nonsense, and have some good old fashioned, 80s fun!

Welcome back to the early 2000s, where Myspace was flourishing, the music scene was shifting, and trends were setting. In the midst of obnoxious pop and frosted tips, ghost hunting was also slowly gaining popularity by some of the more outcasted crowd. Ajax Larsen, and Romeo Pruitt were among some of these well known, sensationalized ghost hunters, having worked their wav up the "spectral ladder" as an independent hunter duo, DisreSpecter. Unfortunately, after some Tragic Life Events and a slow recovery since then, the pair have realized that they might need a little assistance with their popularly followed ghost hunting, resulting in an ad being posted on their blog of thousands of subscribers. They were in need of some "interns," to help them with all sorts of aspects to these hunts... urgently. The pair was on the lookout to hire unique individuals with an interest in all things haunted. The opportunity for anybody to join them as they hop from city to city, investigating eerie scenes they were called to, while crashing at hotels and seemingly living a carefree life, what's the worst that could happen? Sounds like a fun time! With multiple job listings posted within the ad, they've begun to sit and review these applications..

Hidden beneath the thick fog deep in Halimaw Woods, sits secrets that an ordinary human grows increasingly curious about with every passing day. Tales of creatures from fiction, storybooks claiming to be "Historically accurate" events of what had happened years prior in the small town nestled within inner Oregon. Every child's parent scoffs it off with dismissal, "Fairytales, stories, nothing more." However, they had lived to see the truth all those years ago.. The truth of Halimaw, and the monsters within the woods.

The truth is, Vampires and Werewolves had once lived amongst humans, adapting to society and intermingling with humans, ranging within anything from Friendships, to even Romance. This also created lots of interbred offspring, half wolves, and half vampires now trotting around communities and befriending human children. Despite most of society seeming to grow accustomed to this change, albeit a little nervous still.. there are always extremists.

These extremists worked their way into local governments, protests, advertisements, until they had gathered enough steam to make these monsters a big enough deal to be banished from human life. "Dangerous, harmful to children, unpredictable." It hadn't helped that vampires were natural hunters, still needing to feed upon humans to satisfy their needs and continue existing. Unfortunately, this had become the last straw, and perfect bit of evidence to create the law that banished monsters to their own realm. Werewolves and Vampires were split amongst the land within, creating their own communities, and survining the extremist hunters that still attempted to sneak in for a trophy prize above their mantle.

The 'fairytale' of Halimaw Woods monsters is entirely true.. but only a few humans live to tell the stories of what they found within the thick woodlands. However, most of the disappearances weren't the fault of either monster faction.. but rather, a new threat that has risen on the land. The good thing? You get to take part of this.

† We are a new Advanced Lit - Novella style RP server, writing lengthy responses with a no tolerance rule for single liners.

† Create an OC in any of our factions, From Humans to Vampires, werewolves, and even hunters. We also allow the creation of half-bred creatures. Every Monster faction has its own channel, with descriptions on abilities, weaknesses, and so forth.
