For Yosano, I picked a simple wrap top and sarashi wrap. I didn't really have much of an idea with what I was thinking other than 'i think she'd like wrapping a lot, and she'd probably use a katana for injuring people' and I just really wanted to draw her with a short side ponytail.

For Naomi, I couldn't really think of much at first because I can't really discern much of her. But then I just decided that I can't just ignore the little I do know of her just because I don't think it's that deep. I thought that she was a vapid and shallow schoolgirl character.

But then I remembered that anime schoolgirls are genuinely so awesome and probably the backbone of anime and manga. Why should I look for other traits to give Naomi when she already has the legendary status of being an anime girl in highschool?

Remember a few years back, there was this whole trope of schoolgirl exorcists/Miko? I remember seeing a decent number of them. I mostly remember Kagome from Inuyasha even though she's not really called an exorcist, but I know there was definitely more. Like...twin star exorcists and blue exorcists and more.

Considering that in the official art, Atsushi has tails, Dazai's looking like a kitsune, Akutagawa has a dragon on his clothes, and Chuuya has snakes on him, I think-- Naomi's gonna solo them all. Ranpo has a panda so he'll be spared.

So yeah. That's why Naomi's wearing Kagome from the anime Inuyasha cosplay.

For Higuchi, I tried to translate her simple suit and modern guns to something more traditional. I'm not sure why, but I associate light blue with Higuchi. I think she'd wear clothes traditionally meant for men when working but wear more traditionally feminine clothes out of work. She'd probably have a legend made of her for being able to put her hair in a bun despite it being so short.

As for Kouyou, yes I used my beloathed Exhibit E as the heavy inspiration

The dis-knees...the chest window... The weird position...the air making her bangs like that... Looking at it still makes me :|| but I still used it for reference because I think the coat looks cool.

The Kunikida tag talk interlude!

I saw this one person make a really lovely fanart of Kunikida in the same style as the official art because he wasn't a part of the line-up and I remembered feeling bummed none of the ladies were in the line-up too so I thought 'oh right, I can try doing that too' so I drew what I drew. The artist is @/benetnvsch here on Tumblr but I'm not going to tag them because I realised that if you tag someone, they'll feel inclined to look at what you're tagging them. This is probably how I'll give credit from now on.

The official art rant!

This one official art that looks to me based on mythology from and/or fantasy based on East Asia, but most people focused on for buff Chuuya and the pretty boys looking neat. I honestly think this is one of my favorite official arts from her.

The tassels that are used a lot in traditional fits, the design on Dazai's shirt looking like how water/air was depicted in old Japanese paintings, the designs looking like designs likely to be used in traditional clothes, Akutagawa wearing a changsam and Ranpo wearing a tattsuke bakama--

I saw some people talk about whether or not she used ai. I guarantee that if ai was used for this, this whole picture would just be so vague and just a hodgepodge of uninspired 'asian-looking' elements served as too mindless and heartless to pay respect to any culture.

But no, there are 'asian elements here' that you can actually see and go 'oh that's actually a thing!!!' And unlike the other people that so easily fall in the pitfall of thinking that the epitome of mixing modern and traditional is just putting a chest window in a cheongsam, the modern touches she added here actually help give the traditional clothes a new spin!

The boots, the inside of clothes having a different color inside, the tassels being integrated in ways they usually aren't, and the modern accessories.

If you ask me who here did it best, it'd be Akutagawa because I see him and I immediately get that he's supposed to be a mix of both. Since Kitsune is a more widespread concept now, it'd be easy to just think Dazai's just dressing up as kitsune anime character. Chuuya looks like a model doing a photoshoot based on. Ranpo mostly has traditional elements with the only modem thing on him being his sunglasses. Atsushi looks like a sweet kid performing at a school event celebrating a cultural festival.

Not that they don't look any less wonderful, I just want to hammer down that even without the context, you could tell Akutagawa's wearing the mix. He's on top, but literally everyone here looks gorgeous and has a great fit.

Anyways. It'd be nice if we got official art of the ladies and girls from Harukawa, but bad self fanart is all I can do for now. That's all. Whew.

I had to color her hair so that the clothes wouldn't jut out too much and it was hard for me (because I'm very untalented by the way) but I think I like how it looks ^^ she looks kind of game-ified. I left the face alone. If the arms and hands look wronged, that's because they have been. By me.

The process was really tiring though because there was a 50% chance on each swipe I made on my phone that it'd redo all my coloring. All the changes were removed like...less than seven times so it wasn't that bad at least

and this is the final but with the colors edited that makes it look even better, for me at least. But I'm not sure. I think the grey is worse here.

I should really stop drawing the crossed arms pose because I don't like drawing arms and hands but both animezai and mangazai give off the vibe of regularly crossing their arms.

I'll draw them kind of differently a lot because I feel like Dazai in general to me feels versatile with gender and I'm having so so much fun with this ^^

The first time I drew fem Dazai was fanart for this one artist I really liked. The first time I drew her for myself was with fem Chuuya, I think? It was really sloppy and crude. To think I'd go from avoiding drawing her to now drawing two of her in a ship ^ v ^ I think I've improved a little since then!! Probably. Maybe. Maybe not but it's nice to think about °-°

A beloved fellow Tumblr person I'm fond of said my first yuri zaizai art was smooth and asked if I got a new medium. It's not new, but the other drawings that look smoother are ones done on actual sketchbooks while what I usually draw on is paper.

Anyways, yuri zaizai. A friend of mine called it 'zaza'. Huzzah.

Orihime fanart :]

I like Orihime, but I don't know how to draw her at all. Can't get her essence right. I know her eyes are supposed to be brown, but I really like grey eyes on her. I think it balances with her really warm hair? Like her soft and long orange hair clues you in on how she's warm and cheerful, but her having grey eyes are a hint as to how melancholic she can be.

As for the redesign, I don't know if it's just my brain being weird, but I link grey gakuran-esque stiff clothes made out of ambiguous fabric with the timeframe where bleach was the newest hot shounen.

I already made this redesign some time ago. But basically, I want her to have more of a 'princess' feel to her fit. But specifically a princess in the confines of the bleach world. I was also very miffed at the black band around her hips in her original outfit because it just stuck out to me. I think that's probably what made me want to redesign her the most.

I want to draw her again, but I can't get her to look like herself. I did try drawing her in her original fits, but they just looked like random girls stealing her skin and clothes. One day, I might get it right...!

Lily (Lilith) fanart ^^

I saw another art and wanted to draw fanart again (AND THE CROWD IS-- unsurprised. Very much so.)

The muse this time is Lily, brought forth by @somethingfrog . She's cute and I like her baby blue clothes. Her eyes are pretty.

She had lovely colours in the original art. Whenever I color something though, it looks obnoxious so I opted out so I can at least keep some of the delicacy in her design. She had lots of refined details too. And her eyes are especially eye-catching. Everything about the original arts are so good. Such is the talent of a tbhk fan.

i can't clown on bones anymore, I drew Dazai worse in both versions 💔 It doesn't even look like him. Maybe that's a blessing.

Differences I noticed between the two:

Anime Dazai's button up is often simplified from stripes to plain blue. The sleeves are also more standard and less round.

Manga Dazai's hair is 'flat' but it has volume. I don't know why, but his hair looks air-dried. Anime Dazai's hair is dark brown and fluffy.

The things I disagree with in the original lane that started it all is that:

1. Anime Chuuya doesn't moan, he growls and drawls. (They're not any cooler sounds, don't worry)

2. Manga Dazai is not buff. I will not die on this hill, but I will plant a nice seed on it and water it until it becomes a tree.

3. (Insert a third thing because I like ending things in three)

i wanted to draw a full side view of the three before drawing part 3 but I got inflicted with the inability to draw Nakahara Chuuya. He was supposed to be leaning forward while standing and sliding something closer to Akutagawa but I couldn't get that right. So I just drew him standing. But he looks even worse now.

i don't usually like reblogging besides reblogging for Yosano propaganda but please look at this picture!! It's that one official art of Chuuya but with more realistic arms!! Apparently, there's a fan edit trying to twink-ify him!! I stand in support with the muscled Chuuya truthers!!

He throws buildings around and is so strong that Asagiri really has to give him less appearances so that he doesn't become Deux ex chuuya. He can have muscles, I think.

Anyways, reminder: just because Chuuya has muscles, it doesn't mean that he's any less pretty or beautiful or gorgeous or (insert positive adjective here)!! While the hair covering one side is a little funny to me (reminds me of older teenagers i used to think we're the coolest people ever), his hair is still drawn as delicately and softly! He still wears the clothes so effortlessly! He still looks like a model! I know change is unfamiliar and alien, but this is still Chuuya! Okay? Okay!

So many edits of the new official Chuuya art are circling around and the ones I saw fixing Chuuya's left arm ended up making both of his arms smaller and none ever attempted to fix the anatomically questionable right arm so I took it upon myself to share the vision and made an edit of an edit of an edit (last edit credits go to @heartberrydog <3) 🫡 In fact, this is such an important matter that I decided to post despite never posting anywhere ever.

(Don't even argue. I verified that his right biceps would bulge out like that in this pose. My credentials: I'm his size, I was a weight training enthusiast and I've been drawing my whole life. If you don't have a biceps you don't get to speak 🫵)
