Step by Step (Jonghyun x Reader) - Chapter 7

Story Type: College AU; 2nd person Characters: Jonghyun x Reader Genre: fluff, romance Summary: You’re in Law School and live in a big house with some of your classmates. The boys live downstairs and the girls on the second floor. You’re not too close with some of them, especially with the guys. But then, Easter is here and you can’t go home to visit your parents, neither Jonghyun can go. That’s when you two start to get closer.

Thursday, 10:30am. You only have one class in the afternoon so you were sleeping a little bit more than the usual but suddenly your phone started to ring non stop. You didn't see who was calling, just answered with a completely sleepy voice, looking like a zombie, trying to finish that soon as possible and come back to your dreams.

"Hm? Yes?"  

"Wake up, sunshine."

"Who's it?"  

"It's me!"  

"Me who?" - You rubbed your eyes and looked to the phone screen, trying to come back to life and see the name there. - "Jonghyun... why are you calling me? Let me sleep."  

"You're accepting calls without seeing who is it calling? Oh, that hurt my feelings."

"I was sleeping ok? And you wouldn't stop calling me, so... what do you want?"  

"I want you to open the chat and see your messages. Quickly." - And just like that he hung up the phone.  

"God…" - You sighed. - "What an educated man we have here."  

He sent so many messages, you were shocked with that, maybe something have happened and you didn't know, so you sat on the bed to process the situation.  

Jonghy said: Morning, sunshine   Jonghy said: Wake up, let's go out for lunch ^^   Jonghy said: Wake up :(((   Jonghy said: I'm hungry  

You started to laugh reading his messages. It was 10am boy, calm down. Go eat something, it's not time for lunch yet.

Jonghy said: if you don't wanna go with me ok, fineee  

What a desperate man. It must me his stomach talking (or not).  

Jonghy said: come on :( I know a nice and new place we could check :(   Jonghy said: Y/N wake uuup!!   Jonghy said: I'm gonna call you   *1 missed call from Jonghy*  

You were typing to answer him and another message arrived.

Jonghy said: I know you've read it so come quickly, baby I'm waiting for you in the car

And then a picture pops up. It was him wearing all black, with his favorite red cap, inside the car waiting for you. Not even smiling, just with a soft look, calling for you. Your heart skipped a beat seeing that, he's confusing your head and heart. The anger you were feeling when he woke you up has faded away, just like magic. You had to tap your phone screen twice before it locked because you didn't even know what to answer or how to act after that.  

"First of all, you're so desperate, dude chill!! lol second of it, where are we going? I hope it’s a 5 star place. I'm going to get ready now, it might take a few minutes so don't lose your patience and wait for me. Btw where are you? Aron's car, right? I'll let you know when I'm ready ;)" - You typed back.  

You went to the bathroom and bumped into your friend Rosie in the corridor. She got surprised to see you awake at that time in the morning.

"What happened, Y/N? Is there a monster in your bed? Why are you up already?" - She asked.

"No..." - You laughed after a long sigh. - "Jonghyun just called me. He needs me to do something." - She would mock you if you have said the truth.

"Oh. That's why he was so dressed up. It says a lot." - You entered the bathroom, giving her a suspicious face, thinking about what she meant by that but you decided to let it go.

Soon you went back to your room, you saw a notification coming up in your phone again and yes, it was the most anxious boy in town.

Jonghy said: 5 star?? what do you think I am?? I'm not an heir. But once I get more money I'll take you to one, don't worry :)   Jonghy said: you're taking too long... I'm getting bored   Jonghy said: and tired  

For a few seconds, you really thought about not going just because he was rushing you as if he was dying there. But he was being such a sweetheart to you with no reason and it was better to go see what was his deal.

"I'm goinggg!! Stoppp!!! I'm trying to get ready, don't rush me!! Just a little bit more and I'll be there. Don't die, for god's sake!" - You've sent that to him and JR just replied with a bunch of the pleading face emoji that you could visualize him doing that.

20 minutes have passed and you were leaving the house in a rush, all clumsy with your purse and keys, trying not to drop your phone while texting Jonghyun saying that you were ready to go. You stepped outside and almost got a heart attack. He was right by the door, leaning against the wall, looking at you with such an appealing look.

"Jesus Christ, Kim Jonghyun!" - You put your hands on your chest, scared, shaking a little bit.

"I'm sorry." - He bent down to pick up your keys, feeling regretful for his actions but also laughing at your reaction. - "I didn't mean to scary you."  

"But you did! I thought you were in the car, I wasn't expecting you here." - With a saddening tone of voice, you explained yourself, making him feel bad for you.

"Sorry again!" - He made an adorable face. JR wanted to give you a hug but didn't know how to so he just patted your back as if you were just a kid.

"Yeah, ok. But hey, let's go. You were in such a hurry to go eat, what are we waiting for?"

"Yep!" - Both of you were heading to the car. - "You look stunning, by the way!" - He stepped back for a second, feeling flustered for what he has said.

You were wearing a white shirt with a denim jacket and light beige dress pants, you hadn't given much thought to the look itself, just went with your basic stuff. A compliment wasn't something you would expect to receive.  

"Thank you!" - You smiled back to him as he hurried to try to be a gentleman and open the door for you. - "So do you!" - You didn't just say that out of politeness.

He smiled back to you, finally getting into the car, driving you both to the restaurant.

Some of your colleagues were at the living room watching tv or studying with their notebooks, when you two got home after a messy run to the supermarket, starting to make dinner right away. The mess followed you through the rest of the night, especially because Jonghyun was - trying - to help you make some healthy food but he wasn’t good at it. The only thing he was expert at was with the way he found to annoy you.

“I swear to god, if you touch me again I’ll throw this spoon with hot sauce on you!” - You said loud and clear. He laughed with no fear.

“Look, it’s so good to squeeze your arm. It’s so soft, it’s just… it calls me to squeeze!” - He smiled raising his arm again in your direction. You hated that you couldn’t even hide your laugh because he was so charming looking at you, begging you for that touch.

“Jonghyun!” - You faced him with a gentle look. - “I’m hungry, I wanna finish this soon as possible. Stop bothering me, please!”

Suddenly, the only thing that could be heard there it was the sound of the vegetables frying. JR leaned against the kitchen counter next to you, staring in silence, just admiring you. It’s quite impossible to know someone from head to toe, but in that moment, he already knew what to do to get a smile from you again and see your tiny little dimple in your left cheek - Jonghyun’s new favorite thing in the world. However, you hate when people do that, when you become the center and they stare directly at you, in a very intimate way. The feeling that your face can get red any second frustates you so much.

“What? Is there’s something wrong with me?” - You touched innocently your hair and face, looking for some food there or something strange but nothing.

“No, quite the opposite”. - He smiled softly again.

“So why are you staring at me? That won’t help dinner to get ready any faster”. - You completely felt that, all the frustrations and provocations. Yet the seriousness in your voice got him.

“Wow. You’re such a tough girl, I can’t even. It’s just…”

“What?” - You laughed. - “What? You annoyed the hell of me the whole day and I’m tough? Dude…”

“You’re always so rude to me”.- Jonghyun pouts right next to you.

“Rude??” - That schoked you.

“Yes. You’re mean to me. I’ve helped you so many times, I’m trying to be here for you and what do I get back? Cursing, threats, slaps”. - JR was jokinly counting on his fingers.

You stared at him for a few seconds, didn’t know what to say because of your mixed feelings: yes, maybe you were being quite rude to him and it wasn’t that necessary but at the same time, he kept bothering you so he deserved that.

“Look… I didn’t mean to be rude to you, but there’s some things I don’t like and there’s some things we have the right time to do”. - You were quite reluctant to say it, afraid of ending things that didn’t even start, to push him away. You started to like more of his company, his silly jokes, the way he touches you just to annoy you.

“I know, you idiot. I was just saying”. - He smiled and you breathed a sigh of relief. - “I’m starting to understand that that’s the way you are and I know I can’t do anything to change it. That’s you. And you’re like that because of me”. - Both stared at each other in silence for two seconds that felt like centuries. - “I’m the one that makes you angry while making dinner, I’m the one that provokes you, that makes you feel uneasy”.

“What? What’s is this nonsense?” - You giggled pretending your heart wasn’t dancing all over your chest.

“I know I annoy you so much but I can’t resist. It’s so easy to annoy you. You get angry quite easily”.

“Damn boy, you really said that looking at me in the face, shamelessly. You’re fearless, honey! I admire you.”

“Thank you”. - JR started to get closer to you, knowing that you had already let your guard down, so he started to hold your arm gently. - “You’re a strong and tough girl, I admire you too.” - In that moment, you felt so confused. What he was doing? Why is he so close? - “But look, I’ve found it! You have one soft spot here and it is your arm.” - He announced that, laughing, while pinching your arm again. You moved your body away so he did it too with you, he couldn’t let you go.

“You really getting on my nerves, Jonghyun”. - Both of you were laughing but you gave him a slap on his back, were going to give another one and he ran through the small kitchen until he reached the door. Your roommates all looked to him, a little bit confused and he smiled embarrassed, putting his head down and going back to the kitchen.

The food got ready and you two got your plates done and went to the living room to watch tv with the rest of the gang. It felt like they were all looking at each other, waiting for some good and brave soldier to speak up first. And that person was Aron.

“So… is mister Kim Jonghyun bothering you, my lady?”

“Hm? Me???” - You almost chocked with your food. - “Hm…” - You finished swallowing it. - “You know him, you know he can be really annoying when he wants.”

“HEY” - JR exclaimed.

“Yeah, with that I can agree.” - Baekho said, holding a laugh and JR threw a pillow at him.

“Me too!” - Minhyun raised his arm.

“See? That’s exactly how he treats me!!” - You pointed to their small fight. - “Why is he like this?”

“Baby, I don’t know what he have against us.” - Baekho whispered to you.

“Maybe it’s not what he have against you but against us all, as a group.” - Mingi said that laughing and immediately he covered himself with pillows since JR was right by his side.

“Is this a intervention? You all gathered here to say things about me or what?”

“No! Or maybe?” - Aron laughed with the rest of them. - “It’s just… I don’t know, I thought things changed… between you two…” - After that, the silence in the room. It felt like it was difficult for him to say that because he knows his friend well and knows that he used to have a crush on you during high school, so saying it that loud it would make him feel embarassed but at the same time, the others made him ask that since he was JR’s best friend.

“Yeah, it did!” - You said that and JR stared at you, a little bit scared. - “I was the only one that he was able to annoy during a whole weekend, so he thinks he can keep doing that. Please, guys, don’t let me alone with him anymore. I’m begging!” - You made a pleading face, fake cried in Baekho arms. JR stared in disbelief but feeling glad that you turned that conversation in another direction.

“Yes, I’m the big villain here. Come on, bring the accusations!” - The main character shouted and they all started to shout back, to point fingers, throw things, laugh, making the night to end the way it started: in a mess.

The place has a nice atmosphere so it was easy to concentrate and talk academically. You two spent a couple of hours researching and studying there until Mingi showed up and started to talk non stop. When you're around him, you wouldn't shut up either since both of you share so many interests. Jonghyun was there just existing, agreeing, admiring the conversation.

"Yeah but the last episode wasn't that good tho." - Mingi said.

"You're saying that just because that actor you like didn't show up that much."

"Who said that?" - You two laughed. - "You're right but there's more... the end of the main plot was really bad, you know when you can recognize bad writing? That's the case."

"No, no, I completely agree. To be honest, the whole drama was slow. They had such a good story but wasted it in so many ways. I was there for the cast." - You said it giving Mingi a wink. Your eyes then stopped at Jonhyun, who was with his right hand on his chin, looking at you and you could feel he never took his eyes off you.

"Exactly!" - Mingi laughed a little bit loud.

"Well, guys I think it's time for me to go. It's late and I'm hungry but I still have to buy food before going home... ugh." - You sighed loudly while getting your coat and backpack from the chair.

"I'll go with you." - Jonghyun finally said something and got up. You stared at him.

"You don't have to. I can see that you're tired, just go home already."

"No, I'll go. I need to make sure you won't turn anyone into a beef and sell them or worst." - He smiled doing a soft face, his eyes got tiny while you could easily see perfectly the lines of his cheeks.

"First of all, be careful or you'll be the victim. Second of all, fuck off." - You were starting to getting angry at him but he kept laughing and laughing, while Mingi was just observing the chaos and understanding zero of it.

"I can be your accomplice if you want to. Or anything you want." - He said that too fast, too soon and realized it 2 seconds later. Mingi widened his eyes facing Jonghyun while you were already leaving. - "What? I know the law better than her." - Jonghyun smiled trying to explain himself but Mingi still didn't know nothing of what was happening and just agreed.

"I still can hear you, Kim Jonghyun and you'll pay for that!" - You shouted.

"Dude, what is happening between you two?" - Mingi asked completely astonished. - "What is this???" - He made some gestures trying to point to both of you.

"What? Nothing. She's just crazy, I guess. HEY! Wait for me!" - He left Mingi behind, who already knew what was going because the puzzle was easy to solve, and ran to you.

“Am I with amnesia and didn’t know?” - Silence. - “What? WHAT? What it is, you idiot?” - You smiled slightly.

“I thought that was something to remember.” “Jesus Christ, man... I’m gonna throw you out of this bus! Yeah, I don’t remember but say what it is!! Why wouldn’t I remember you?”

“Don’t be so violent!” - You slapped his left arm and he laughed out loud. - “I’ll say it but stop hitting me!” - He calmed himself down. - “I know you played an assassin before.” - You looked at him, trying to remember the things you have done. - “That play in high school about a trial and you were the culprit.... yeah, I was there.”

“You what? Why? How?”

“My mother was one of the teachers in your school and she took me there to watch the play for whatever reason she had.”

"Oh my god, JR... you...” - You felt so embarrassed that you hid your face in your hands. - “Oh! My! God!” - You started to remember the things you did in that play and you were not so proud of that. - “How did you know... that I was there?”

“Oh yeah, you were the main character but you did everything you could for me to be the main guy in the audience.”

“No.” - You peeked between your fingers. - “NO, JR! For real? You...” - You pointed to him.

"Yes.” - He took a deep breath. - “You almost killed me in so many ways. You gave me a heart attack for picking me in the audience. A shy teenager taking part in the play? In front of the whole school? Thanks a lot.” - You couldn’t hold back the laugh. Felt a little bit sorry for him about the situation but bringing this back after all those years it was the worst idea for you. You hated that day, not for a special reason, you just hated it. It was too embarrassing. You did pretty well for someone who wanted to be an actress, but you were not that person.

“Sorry.” - You whispered.

"And then.... AND THEN you took that tie out of nowhere and made me a hostage. Like?? For real???’

"Stop it, JR!” - You kept laughing but the nostalgia train had already done a lot for you.

“When you grabbed me, I still remember what you said because later I discovered that it was a line from Hannibal Lecter.”

“Don’t.” - You tried to stop him from what he was about to say, knowing things would get worse.

"'I do wish we could chat longer, but I'm having an old friend for dinner.'" - He recited it as if it were a Shakespeare poem. - “Thanks for the old friend, tho. I felt better with that. It’s warming, you know?”

“JR...” - You finally were able to look in his eyes. - “Stop it.”

“I remember trying to find a better position or you would actually hurt me, it was when I realized I was being part of the play and then you said to me ‘Remarkable boy. I do admire your courage. I think I'll eat your heart!’. And yet, another Hannibal quote. YOU were remarkable, baby!"

"Listen.” - You laughed. - “I was a teenager, ok? I was so addicted to the Hannibal movies. I wanted to use that, even though it didn’t make much sense but I used. It felt awesome. But the rest of it? Bad, unpleasant, awkward. I’m so sorry you were there and witnessed that but stop, please. I’m not proud of that.”

"No one would be proud of that, my dear.” - Both of you laughed. - “Thanks for introducing me to the Hannibal world tho.” - Jonghyun wanted to say more but he felt it wasn’t the moment, he already introduced his story so he was happy with that.

“I just... how do you still remember? I deleted everything from my mind. Did I become a trauma for you?”

“Not even close.”

“That’s better. Does anyone else knows?” - You had to ask him. Had to.

"No. Do you want me to tell them?” - The audacity of his smirk.

“NO!! No, Jr. No.”

“Well...”

“Just don’t. That’s just our story.”

“Since you say it in that way then... I’ll think about it.” - He smiled annoyingly proud of the situation he created.

Shortly after, the bus arrived at your destination and you went to the cafe.

Step by Step (Jonghyun x Reader) - Chapter 3

Story Type: College AU; 2nd person Characters: Jonghyun x Reader Genre: fluff, romance Summary: You’re in Law School and live in a big house with some of your classmates. The boys live downstairs and the girls on the second floor. You’re not too close with some of them, especially with the guys. But then, Easter is here and you can’t go home to visit your parents, neither Jonghyun can go. That’s when you two start to get closer.

CHAPTER 3

Both of you slept right after because of the tiredness. The sun was starting to rise when you woke up briefly and realized that your left foot was on his shin so, calmly, you tried to move your leg without waking him up.  

“Ugh damn it” - you whispered as you successfully returned to your place.

You tried to sleep again but kept thinking why you were still there. The sun was shining outside, it was no longer so cold and you didn’t have more reasons to be afraid. And your roommates would probably start to come back home soon. That was when you decided to leave his room and go back to yours. You got up quietly, trying to not make any noise opening the door. You looked back to see him basically with all his body out of the blanket but somehow, he was still connected to it so you decided to leave it behind, hoping Minhyun would be the last to arrive.

You closed the door behind you, finally breathing with relief but little did you know that Jonghyun was already awake. He didn’t open his eyes thinking you were going to the bathroom or something and after a few minutes he realized what happened when he heard your steps upstairs. “That was quickly.” - he sighed in his bed.

After lunch, you asked him if you could get the blanket to put on Minhyun’s bed and when you were tidying up the room, Jonghyun brought up the subject you wanted to forget.

“You left pretty early today, huh?”

“Yeah” - You panicked a little bit because you didn’t know what to say. - “I did. There weren’t more reasons for me to stay, I guess.”

“Wow. Throwing me like that.”

“I’m just saying I wasn’t scared anymore, JR. Nothing else. The day was already up. I wasn’t cold anymore too so I left for you to sleep better.”

“But I was already sleeping well.”  

“Well, I thought I was bothering, that’s it, ok? There’s no reason for you to be mad at something like this.”

“But I’m not mad.” - He faced you giving the pillows he was holding for you to put on Minhyun’s bed. - “I was just wondering if I was the one bothering you.”

“No, you didn’t. I’ve slept well there too but I thought it was better for me to leave, that’s all.”  

“Okay... glad it worked, you know?” - He laughed at you. - “If you need anything, you know where you can find me.” - He said leaving the room and bowing like a prince.

“Thanks.” - You laughed at his silly ass as you finished making the bed.

Two days have passed after this. You didn’t have much contact with him, it felt like everything was in the past. However, your best friend missed the class that day, she was a little bit sick and the teacher asked the class to study in pairs. Jonghyun quickly pointed to you. He did that so fast that you got shocked and everyone was impressed with his reaction, you got a little flustered.  

“Fine” - You said looking at him as if that was a massive punishment for you. - “Come here.”

He went to you just fast as when he pointed at you, smiling like a small puppy meeting someone he likes.  

It was a new subject to study and at the end of the class, the teacher said that the pairs that had been made, would be the duo for the semester’s research paper, and those who missed the class would do it by themselves. You thought how screwed you were with this, he was one of the smartest guys there and you couldn’t complain about it but you knew it would be a long ass ride.  

“Welcome aboard.” - He said looking at you.

You sighed so loud but gladly your classmates were even louder discussing who would be their partners.

Jonghyun questioned if it was fine for you to go to this study cafe to start your project right away. You accepted it, especially because the sooner you start it, the sooner you would finish.  

It was 5pm and you got in the bus to the city center, he was right behind you. You sat there next to the window, still had several empty seats around you so he stopped for a few seconds trying to decide what he would do. He was going to seat on the other side of the bus yet he sat right by your side.  

The ride was going to be quite long and you two were silent as much as it could be.  

“You don’t remember, right?” - He said watching you admire the sunset through the window.

“Remember what?” - You looked at him but you were still immersed in that landscape. Jonghyun smirked. - “What?”

“You really don’t remember.” - He lowered his head and look at his hands. - “Me.”

CHAPTER 2  

You’re trying to sleep, thanking all the gods that Jonghyun has two beds because you wouldn’t be fine without him, not at all. You’re starting to feel safe around him, thinking that the fact he was right by your side makes you feel protected and that if the thieves come back, you’ll be fine.  

But as said, you were trying to sleep. Trying. His room was too cold for you, for every normal person, to be honest. It was april but it was still so cold. The more the night fell, the colder it got. Jonghyun was only with a summer blanket, with feet and arms out. While you were grinding your teeth with your warm winter blanket.  

He listened you moving in the bed non-stop and decided to take action.  

“Can’t sleep?”  

“How the fuck do you sleep in here, my friend?” - Oh you were mad. - “It’s cold as fuck and you barely covered. Where’s the heater?”  

“It’s on the top of the wardrobe but it’s not working tho.”  

“What? And you’re just fine with that?”  

“Yeah, I don’t need any heater” - He smiled a little bit. You didn’t see it in full hd since it was too dark, but you knew he was smiling. - “And if I turn it on, I won’t be able to sleep because I’ll be too hot.”  

“You must be joking.” - He wasn’t.  

“Why would I be?” - He laughed as if the thing you said had offended him. - “I’m being pretty serious right now. I have it because my mom bought me but I gave it to Mingi and now it’s ruined.”  

“Well, we need a solution here, JR!” - You were trying to think of something, trying to not move much, but the only thing that came to your mind was coming back to Minhyun’s room and that wasn’t a good idea at the moment. - “Do you have more blankets?”  

“Nah” - He lied.  

You were thinking about getting all the blankets in the house that you could and suddenly he jumped in your bed.  

“The solution is here!” - He said and went under the cover.

“YAA!” - You yelled at him, trying to understand what he was doing. - “For fuck’s sake, man. What are you doing?” - and you immediately moved your body away from him.

“Heat transmission by thermal conduction. Physics, have you heard of it?”- The irony on his voice was huge.

“I'm seriously in such a disbelief right now. You’re really saying this to me. Wow.” - You couldn’t react to his nonsense. You were just facing him trying to crack his code.  

“Yeah, I am. This is real, Y/N. Come on!! It’s gonna work. I won’t do anything else. It’s just me making your temperature rise.” - He opened his arms for you, smiling at little bit with the right side of his mouth and then started to sing Cage the Elephant in a low tone. - “Come a little closer, then you’ll see. Come on, come on, come on! Things aren't always what they seem to be.”

You still couldn’t believe him but you gave in. It was almost 4am and you were feeling so tired, so sleepy. What could go wrong? Yeah, everything. We know it. The existence of Kim Jonghyun went basically unnoticed by you until a few days ago. but you feel closer to him now, you started to trust him.  

“Fine.” - You rolled your eyes and your voice showed how mad you were still feeling. - “But be careful! If this goes badly, be ready because I’m going to kill you!”  

“You’re saying that you don’t trust me?”

“I have many reasons for that, boy.”

“Okay then, I get it. But I’m warm, I can give you all that. Trust me, baby.”

“Stop being so clingy please, JR. I just wanna sleep.” - You gave him such a disgusting face and then started to move towards his body, you just wanted this to end asap.

Your head was below his neck but you could imagine that he was with a victory smile on his face. And after a couple of minutes, you started to feel warmer so his victory was real and you had to give him that.

Step by Step (Jonghyun x Reader) - Chapter 1

Story Type: College AU; 2nd person Characters: Jonghyun x Reader Genre: fluff, romance A/N: It’s been years I don’t write anything, so many years. But I had to put this idea out of me. Also, english is not my first language so you’ll see some mistakes and a lot of repetead words lol this is challenge to me so I’m gonna try it. And last but not least, I already have 3 chapters and I don’t know where I’m going with or if I’m going but enjoy it I guess ^^ Summary: You’re in Law School and live in a big house with some of your classmates. The boys live downstairs and the girls on the second floor. You’re not too close with some of them, especially with the guys. But then, Easter is here and you can’t go home to visit your parents, neither Jonghyun can go. That’s when you two start to get closer.

CHAPTER 1  

It’s friday night, the house it’s almost empty and you’re feeling lonely by being the only person in your floor. You go downstairs to see if your roommate it’s still awake.

“Hey!” - He’s at the living room watching tv. - “The house is too quiet, I’m not used to it. Also, it’s too dark.”

You start to think that you said too much. He looks at you and gives you a smirk.

“You? Afraid of dark?” - Jonghyun laughs.

“I’m just not used to it ok? I can't sleep in my room, it’s too... different. I’m going to sleep here in the couch. Don’t mind me” - You covered yourself with your blanket while lying there.

“Ya! Don’t be like this, your back or neck will hurt tomorrow. Go to someone’s room, like.... Minhyun’s room is right in front of mine and I bet it’s pretty clear.”

“Are you sure I can go there?”

“Yes! He wouldn’t mind at all. Go on!”

“Ok, thanks!” - You got up with the blanket on your back.

“Don’t thank me, girl. I’ll let the lights on here, by the way.”

“Ok, I’m not a baby, JR! Please!” - You looked at him rolling your eyes. - “It’s not like I’ll cry or something.”

“But the way you said...” - He smiled - “But I’ll do it anyway, I know you’ll feel safer.” - Jonghyun said watching you go. - “And my door will be open too...” - You looked back at him with a skeptical look. - “....just in case if you need me.... to kill some ghosts or cockroaches”.

“Night, JR. Night!” - You closed the door on him while he was silently laughing at you.

The night went pretty well, you two slept like babies. No ghosts. No nothing. Saturday passed so fast since you were pretty busy in your own room doing your papers and studying for an exam. You and Jonghyun barely looked at each other during the day, the moment you finally said some words to him was when you were going back to Minhyun’s room to sleep that night.

It was almost 2am when you heard some weird noises coming from outside and since your window faced the street you could hear clearly two men talking about opening the door or finding another way. You got up fast and tried to not make any noise and went to JR’s room.

“JR!!” - You whispered opening the door. Your heart was beating so fast. - “JR please! JR!” - You touched his feet.

“Hm? What?” - He could barely open his eyes but the moment he realized it was you, he woke up and sat on the bed, wearing his boxes and an old white t-shirt, full of holes. - “What?” - He rubbed his eyes.

“There’s someone outside our house. They’re trying to get in. I heard them talking about opening the door or finding a way to access the house.”

“Are you sure?”

“JR, I’m absolutely sure. Why would I make this up??? And wake you up for th-…”

“Yeah, yeah sorry...” - He interrupted you. - “I just.... ok, let me think. Call the police, I’m going to turn on all the lights, you do the same while you call them.”

You did what he said and went downstairs to see him but you two could still listen to the guys.

“I don’t think it’s working, JR!” - You were holding your phone and your hands were shaking.

“I have another idea, wait!”

Jonghyun made the alarm to go off and do that loud noise, it scared them a little bit but not much as the sound of the police coming. The guys ran away, the police didn’t see them, unfortunately. Seconds later, the police officers went to the house and did all the protocols with you two. You were still shaking at that moment but you didn’t know if it was because of the situation or because it was so cold.

Jonghyun walked the police officers off and came back to you sitting in the couch looking at nowhere, having so many thoughts but at the same time with an empty mind.

“Hey! Are you ok?” - He sat next to you.

“Yes” - You took a deep breath. - “I’ve never experienced something like this, I’m just...”

“You’re still scared, right?”

“Yep.” - You looked at each other. - “I mean, I’m glad nothing happened and that I actually woke up before everything, but still.”

“I know.” - He was going to say that he wasn’t feeling safe there but he thought about having to be there for you, to be at your side and make you feel safe. - “I’m a little bit scared too, I’m not gonna lie. But yeah, I’m happy that you woke me up and that nothing happened to us.” - He gave you a smile.

“Yeah.”

“Hey!” - He tried to cheer you up touching your arms. - “Let’s try to get some sleep. And oh you’re really cold! Let’s go!” - You looked at him but didn’t move. - “Come on!! You can sleep in my room! I don’t snore, I’m promise!" - Jonghyun gave you such an inviting look that you couldn’t resist, especially because you were too tired to argue.

“Fine. I’m gonna get my blanket.”

“I’ll make your bed then.”
