Why ‘Female Viagra’ Isn’t Really Like Viagra

There are key differences between the two drugs

The drug flibanserin, which is being sold by Sprout Pharmaceuticals under the brand name Addyi , is the first drug approved to treat a lack of female sexual desire. Some are calling it ‘female Viagra’—but while both pills are meant to improve sex lives, the similarities end there.

Viagra is an erectile dysfunction treatment and increases blood flow to man’s genital area to help him achieve and maintain an erection. But flibanserin doesn’t treat a physical ailment, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says it hasn’t been shown to enhance sexual performance. Instead, it aims to improve lagging libido in premenopausal women who are distressed by their low desire for sex, a condition called hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD)

Scientists understand how flibanserin works, but not necessarily why the mechanics of the drug lead to improved sexual desire and less stress. The drug targets neurotransmitters thought to be involved in sexual desire; it increases dopamine and norepinephrine levels while decreasing serotonin levels. In an email to TIME, a spokesperson for Sprout Pharmaceuticals said dopamine and norepinephrine are responsible for sexual excitement, and serotonin is responsible for sexual satiety and inhibition.

Also unlike Viagra, flibanserin is a medication taken every day (close to bedtime.) Viagra is only taken as needed. Data from the makers of Viagra suggest that the drug helped approximately four out of five men get and maintain erections. About 85% of men taking 100 mg of Viagra had hard erections compared to 50% on placebo. Data from flibanserin—which included three 24-week randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trials in about 2,400 premenopausal women with HSDD—is less impressive. The women who took a 100 mg nighttime dose of the drug showed that on average, being treated with flibanserin increased the number of sexually satisfying events by 0.5 to one additional event per month over placebo and increased desire by 0.3 to 0.4 points over placebo.

One of the reasons critics opposed the approval of flibanserin is that they believe the benefits of the drug are not great enough to override possible side effects. When the FDA approved the drug Tuesday, it cited serious risks that could come from taking flibanserin and drinking alcohol, which include severely low blood pressure and loss of consciousness. For that reason, among others, the FDA said the drug will only be available through specially certified health care professionals and certified pharmacies and will include a boxed warning of its side effects.

“There is no black box warning [for Viagra]. They tell you not to take it on a full stomach, but that’s not a medical restriction,�� says Leonore Tiefer, a clinical associate professor of psychiatry at NYU School of Medicine. “This drug, [flibanserin], has all of these limitations, and it affects the brain.”

The decision to take flibanserin lies with women and their physicians, but it may be in a consumer’s best interest to understand the distinctions between the little blue pill and the little pink one

I just recently bought this moisturizer after my experience with a nasty  one that made my face look pasty  . I love this moisturizer!!!!!!!! My skin is the definition of combination. Oily around my nose, chin and between my eyes, and normal-flaky everywhere else. This is a light formulation which is great for giving just enough moisture to people with oily/combination skin.it has such a feather like feel to it, doesn't break me out and is quite cheap for such an effective product. I've actually  tried a lot of other moisturizers from Olay Combination Skin Moisturizer (watery consistency, and greasy on my face causing breakouts), to high end products such as Chanel and Estee lauder, none of which gave me the same smooth, matte, and oil controlled skin that i get with this ,and oh it sits wonderfully under layers of make up (primer,corrector,concealer ,and foundation)

If you have acne prone skin and can afford it ,then I say go for it. Its especially formulated for acne prone skin. Has a gel base(that’s opaque in colour) and not at all sticky. My face had gone red purple orange from extreme sun exposure  and believe you me.once i spread it on ,the redness or burn or whatever that was just disappeared and my skin felt great. Its great for extremely sensitive skin. If you  get acne on your back( which is a highly sensitive area)  and most moisturizers  fail you, this product will work for you If you have a really dry skin that gets flaky you DO NOT wanna get this. Its great for oily to combination skin. Its a very light weight moisturizer and perfect for days like in summer when you dont want a thick layer on your face. Its so light you will forget you have anything on. You get a nice dewy glow too !

My skin never felt dry after its use unlike soap bars which would make my skin feel all stretched out like leather and then there were these dry flaky areas i’d constantly find on my face while i was using soaps All that changed for the better once i switched to this cream cleanser.

It never broke me out. Not once!

My skin would look absolutely supple and radiant. No dry patches!

Do not brush your hairline too roughly .If you want to smooth down your hairline, try using your hand to flatten it.

Don't try hairstyles that put your hairline under stress like a tight ponytail

Try not to wear wigs and weaves too much. They tend to pull on the hairline

Say no to harsh chemicals. The hair in the front will break more easily than the rest of the hair on your head when chemically treated.

Trick number 1:

Use a cream cleanser preferably with vit E. Rub gently over the dry skin patch.

Follow with aquaphor healing ointment ( best option )

Trick number2:

Mix a little bit of cinnamon in a spoonful of honey. Use it as scrub .Trust you me,there is no scrub out there that will wash away the dead skin cells like this one! I speak from experience. If your skin is too dry, you might not feel the cinnamon’s cleaning action. Add water. This will melt the honey and you’ll be able to feel the cinnamon beads’ exfoliating action. You’re going to love the feeling!!!!!!

Make sure you use only a little cinnamon as using too much of it will cause burning sensation 

Now, both honey and cinnamon are anti bacterial so your acne problem will be taken care of as well.

Do this at least twice a week .Maybe thrice if its acute

Remember to moisturize after exfoliation.Always !

Exfoliation opens pores which makes skin more susceptible to bacterial invasion and hence acne. so you wanna apply a moisturizer right after the process to shut those pores

I’d recommend a moisturizer in a cream or ointment form rather than lotion for extremely dry skin 

Trick number 3:

Mix honey, egg  white, olive oil, almond oil and yogurt in a paste form. Let it remain on your face for 10 minutes. Then wash off with cool water. Moisturise.

If you have an overall dry face then replace egg white with egg yolk.

This should instantly take care of your problem

I can  guarantee that these little tricks will remedy those dry patches instantly and give you a skin that’s softer than a baby’s bottom !

I think it works really well for dry and rough hair especiallly dry and damaged split ends,making it super soft.Its best if you use it after shampoo. You can skip the conditioner after, if you want to, although if you were to use conditioner  after the bb, your hair would be beyond perfect!

It makes your hair look like a million bucks.And OMG the compliments i got on my hair after using it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is excellent for sensitive skin

It cleared out most of my  acne within one week of use! i started to see results from the second day onwards. It prevented any further break outs.

This foundation is perfect for neutralizing the redness from blemishes and covering up post-acne scarring.

It is so light that you feel like you have nothing on but gives excellent coverage and at the same time has such a natural look to it

There are so many great shades to pick from. Lovely shades for pale skin too

Will not make your face oily,

Does not have that cakey finish

Reduces pore size

You need not even apply any powder over it (at least i didn’t have to)

Gives a matt-(ish) look

One of my friends complained that since its so light weight, she tends to use a lot of it and that the coverage is medium for her. My opinion is that if your face is very pigmented and the scar marks are too dark ( that is very rare,though),you may need to use a concealer along with it.I think it provides great coverage for averagely pigmented (which is mostly the case) areas.

Recommendation: I would recommend it 100% to those who have acne prone skin. HOWEVER  people who get acne only sometimes but are in general acne free should avoid using it

Of course its a 10/10 for me
