Be careful touching objects from abandoned amusement parks. You may soon discover the reason why the park was abandoned.
Also featuring TateLugia as Tindalos.
Original art piece was by Ghostshiny with fixes from TateLugia
The following story was written by me with input from TateLugia and with some dialogue taken from Indigo Park
Saturday, October 7th, 20xx
In a dark stretch of forest, a car rode down a road that looked like it hadn’t been used in months. The two passengers, a pink dragon named Napoleon and a blue wolf named Tindalos (who also had a marking on his left eye and tail fins like those of a Lugia, though they were red in color), were conversing in the front row.
“Are you sure this is the place?” Napoleon asked.
“Me sure of it,” replied Tindalos. The dragon and the wolf had driven up to a gate plastered with “Do Not Enter” and “Private Property” signs. Tindalos gestured towards a sign that read “This is not a park entrance”.
“Okay. I just hope nobody catches us,” Napoleon said, as the two drove through the open gates. A few minutes later, they arrived at their destination: the site of the abandoned Indigo Park. The two of them heard of it while searching for places to potentially do some urban exploration. No one had explored the abandoned site despite the park being shut down for eight years, so that’s where they decided to explore. Maybe they could find clues on why it was abandoned.
The two of them parked just in front of what looked to be the main entrance. Trash, boxes, and discarded merchandise littered the outside.
“Darn. The gate’s shut,” Napoleon said, noticing the locked gate.
“Maybe we can get in through there,” Tindalos said, pointing toward a door by the ticket booth with a sign that read “Ranglers Only” hanging above it.
“It’s worth a shot,” Napoleon responded, and the two of them headed in front of the door. Napoleon was just about to ask how they were going to get in when the door opened automatically.
“Huh. Tindalos guesses this place still has power,” Tindalos remarked as they walked inside. The interior was a small room that looked to be part of the ticket booth. A desk with a dual-monitor computer sat by the window, with a TV monitor hung on the wall a little ways away from it. As Napoleon and Tindalos walked toward the desk, the TV suddenly sprung to life. It appeared to be an informational video with the park’s main mascot, Rambley the Raccoon, introducing the park.
Rambley enthusiastically greeted the two. “Hi there, and welcome to Indigo Park! The world’s most innovative and engaging family fun experience! Jump into the world of your favorite chara…” The screen suddenly glitched out. Startled, Napoleon and Tindalos looked at each other. The screen returned to normal, but this time, Rambley looked surprised.
“Wait!” he exclaimed, “You two are the first guests in 2920 days, 4 hours, 23 minutes, and 38 seconds! Congratulations! I’m Rambley, Rambley the Raccoon, and it’s my job to make sure your experience here at Indigo Park is the most fun it can be! Just hop on over to the registration center to your left!”
Now Napoleon and Tindalos were even more surprised. Not only did Rambley directly acknowledge their presence, but he also seemed to know how long the park had been shut down for. Evidently, Indigo Park used a program that used Rambley as an A.I. assistant for park guests and staff. The two quickly shook off their surprise and made their way over to the computer. Rambley appeared on the left monitor.
“Hi, I’m Rambley, Rambley the Raccoon!” he repeated, “I’ll just make sure the two of you are registered! Let me just get a goooood look at you.” As he said this, he popped up closer to the screen. After a few seconds, Rambley popped back into the center of the screen and said, “Hmm, I don’t seem to have either of your faces on our guest list. Also, neither of you appear to be…human. That’s great! I have a special job for a couple of Ranglers like you! Make sure the generator in the room behind you is up and running and meet me over by the main gate!” The left monitor then went dark.
Now Napoleon and Tindalos were confused. Rambley clearly considered the two of them as staff, but…why?
“Well, that was weird,” Napoleon said, “But we might as well do what Rambley says.” He opened the door behind the desk and saw the generator and a switch. The generator seemed to be running. Napoleon looked closer and saw that there was an empty slot where a gear should have been.
“Hey Tindalos!” he called out, “The generator’s missing a gear!”
“Tindalos thinks he sees it on one of the boxes!” Tindalos called back.
“Great! Pass it over!” After the handoff, Napoleon slotted the gear in the empty slot and went over to flip the switch. The switch wouldn’t budge at first, but after using both hands, it gave way, and the overhead lights turned on.
“The power’s on. Let’s head back to the main gate,” Tindalos said. They exited the room and walked back to the park entrance. Rambley popped up on the screen next to the gates.
“Welcome, new Ranglers, to Indigo Park!” Rambley exclaimed cheerfully as the gate slowly opened, “Meet me over by the gift shop next!” Napoleon and Tindalos made their way inside. The entrance area was overgrown with weeds, and one of the turnstiles was blocked off by rubble. The one that was over by the entrance to the Critter Corner gift shop still appeared to be usable. The two of them walked over to the turnstile, and Rambley appeared on the monitor that hung above it.
“Alright, new Ranglers,” Rambley continued, “You see that unmarked door over on the other side? Head over there, and I’ll get you two set up.” Napoleon and Tindalos glanced over to their right and saw the door that Rambley mentioned. By now, even Tindalos was getting apprehensive.
“Hey Napoleon?” he whispered nervously, “Me don’t know if we should trust Rambley.”
“Yeah, but maybe we should go in anyway,” Napoleon whispered back, “I don’t want him to phone the police or something like that.”
“If you say so…” Tindalos responded, as the two of them walked toward the unmarked door. The door automatically opened, and they walked inside. Upon initial observation, the room looked like a storage room. Stock for the gift shop was lined up on shelves, and there were several baskets, some containing hangers for the shirts and sweaters, and others containing keychains with the park mascots. As the two made their way around, they found another door in the back. A monitor hung next to it. They really seemed to be everywhere. Once again, Rambley popped up on the monitor.
“Through this door, you’ll find items related to all the Indigo Park mascots,” Rambley explained, “Go ahead and pick an item.” The door opened, and there were more baskets inside. These baskets contained replicas of Rambley’s bandanna, wigs that resembled Finley the Sea Serpent’s mane, and flasks containing potions that looked like what Salem the Skunk would brew. Napoleon took interest in a basket that contained replicas of Mollie Macaw’s flight cap, and a row of replicas of Lloyd the Lion’s microphone caught Tindalos’ eye. Tindalos grabbed one of the microphones, and Napoleon put on one of the flight caps. As soon as they did, an odd rush of energy flowed through both of their bodies.
“Did you just feel something?” Napoleon asked.
“Yeah,” Tindalos confirmed. “Whoa, Napoleon! Look down!”
Napoleon did, and as he did so, he saw that he was suddenly dressed in Mollie’s full aviator outfit. He pointed back at Tindalos. “You should look at yourself too!”
Tindalos looked down, and he saw that his tank top had turned into Lloyd’s waistcoat, complete with a blue bow tie. At the same time, his shorts and shoes were starting to vanish. His fur was beginning to shift from blue to orange, and some of his head and neck fur began growing out into a reddish mane.
“Tindalos thinks these things are turning us into the park’s mascots!” Tindalos exclaimed as his snout broadened.
Napoleon started to reply but couldn’t get any words out as his snout was shortening and his teeth were fusing together and darkening to almost a black color and pushing out. A white shine started forming in his pupils as feathers began to sprout all over his body, blue on his arms, white on his face, and yellow on his belly and neck. His horns and wings began shrinking, and his hands were changing shape as the feathers covered them, his fingers becoming more feather-like. His feet also began shifting in appearance, his dewclaws shifting towards the backs of his feet and toes fusing together and elongating, the talons changing color from green to black. His already digitigrade heels grew longer as his legs shrank.
“Hmm, Tindalos says this is quite a splendid outcome!” Tindalos said, as his voice cracked. It was now sounding more confident, more regal even. The bush on his tail vanished as the appendage grew longer and thinner, the fur on the tip forming a reddish tuft beyond the red Lugia-like fins. His shorts and shoes vanished completely, and he was now wearing a blue suit with black wrist cuffs. He was now almost completely covered in orange fur with yellowish fur on his snout, hands, feet, and belly, and his eyes shifted from blue to red. His nose and tongue began taking on a bluish hue, with blue paw pads forming on his hands and feet.
Napoleon’s snout disappeared entirely as his fused teeth fully pushed out into an avian beak. A black scale began forming on his elongated feet. He tried speaking again. “You know what, I agree!” he chirped. His voice had also changed, now sounding higher-pitched and more feminine. New memories started forming in his brain. Though the memories of his soon-to-be-past life weren’t erased, he wasn’t Napoleon anymore. He, or rather she, was now Mollie Macaw, the barnstorming parrot that also makes (and crashes) her own planes. At the same time, Tindalos’ brain was undergoing similar alterations. He was now Lloydford L. Lion, actor extraordinaire!
Mollie’s draconic features were vanishing still. Her neck and tail were getting shorter, the spines on her back and tail disappearing, in addition to her horns. As her tail shrank, feathers began sprouting from the tip, growing out into a fan of tail feathers as the tail was reduced to a nub. Her toes finished fusing and merging from four to two, the dewclaws each now fully formed into a third, rear-facing toe with the black scale fully covering her feet. The wings on her back vanished completely as her arms fully morphed into wings, yellow and green feathers forming on her wingtips. She was now entirely covered in feathers, green feathers now covering the top of her head, and her pupils had become fully white, signaling the end of her transformation.
At the same time, Lloyd was also undergoing further changes, though they weren’t as drastic as Mollie’s. His ears shrank and became more rounded, and the insides of his ears took on a darker blue coloration. His tongue and nose were now fully blue, with his nose also more triangular. Yellow streaks began lining his mane and tail tip as his transformation came to a close.
Mollie and Lloyd looked at each other, gazing at their new forms excitedly. Or had they always been like this? Regardless, they exited back into the main storage area. Rambley appeared on the monitor again.
“Look at you two! Both of you look like proper mascots now!” Rambley appeared to be staring at Lloyd, and his enthusiastic tone dropped, “Though I’m going to have a serious talk with SOMEbody about HIS choice of mascot.” Mollie glanced over at Lloyd. Lloyd just looked back in confusion.
Rambley continued, his voice now more serious, “Anyway, ever since the park shut down, the old mascots have gone feral, and since I’ve been stuck at the entrance for so long, I don’t even know the exact state of the park right now.” He paused for a few seconds. Mollie and Lloyd were saddened. How could their beloved park fall into such a state?
Rambley spoke up again, his voice regaining that chipper tone, “But with the help of you two, I’m sure we can restore Indigo Park to its former glory! I have access to the repair documentation in my database, but I can’t perform most functions without manual input. Would you two be willing to restore the park?” Mollie and Lloyd perked up. Of course, they wanted to restore the park! Rambley seemed to share their enthusiasm.
“I can see from the facial tracking data of both of you that neither of you are opposed to this! Oooh, I’m so excited! Let’s get this place back in business! Oh, and just…be careful regarding the old mascots. I don’t know how they’ll react to other versions of themselves.” With that, Rambley vanished from the monitor.
“Well, Lloyd,” Mollie chirped, “You know what we have to do!”
“Indeed Mollie!” Lloyd boomed, “Let’s make this place prrrrroud and prrrrrestegious like me once again!” The two of them exited through a side door leading to the main plaza and set out on a new adventure to help Rambley in his goal of restoring Indigo Park!

As a Dragoshi, Malachi has the ability to breathe fire without the need for an item like a red Koopa shell or Fire Melon. However, since he was only relatively recently turned into one, he has some difficulties with this ability, and he doesn't want to accidentally cause a wildfire. Luckily, Yoshi's Island has some lava caves where he can practice, and he can even look fierce while doing so!
A commission I got last month of Malachi in his Dragoshi form from churroshi on Bluesky.

After an encounter with a small red Yoshi with feathers on his head and tail, a saddle suddenly appeared on my back! The changes spread from there, and now I’m my Yoshisona Malachi! My pants are totally busted now, but that tail I just grew looks lovely. I think I’ll just look at it for a bit…

If you come across a living plushie, be sure to ask before hugging them. Otherwise, you may get turned into a plushie yourself. I certainly found *that* out the hard way!

Malachi found out the hard way that certain fossils are capable of certain powers, namely the ability to transform dinosaurs to other types of dinosaurs. Hopefully, he’ll grow to enjoy being covered in plumage.

Brewing your own transformative potions is always something. You never know if they change your species entirely or it simply mutates your existing form until you drink them. It seems in this case, the latter has occurred, and now I'm a 4-armed hexapedal dragontaur! Maybe today being a Taursday was a factor...
