As it turned out, what happened was this: all the children had always assumed that him and Nyarlathotep were husbands, they all thought it was obvious since they were, in their words, "always so lovey-dovey"; the only child to have correctly guessed this was not in fact the case was Goro.

Now, Goro being Goro, he refused to back down from a fight, so, when challenged on the issue, he had insisted their two caretakers couldn't possibly be married, as they didn't even wear matching wedding rings. This, in turn, had caused much offense in all the Lovers Arcanas, an offense that had only grown more shocked once Margaret confirmed Goro's claim: spearheaded by Ann, they managed to goad all the other children into demanding a proper wedding between the two halves of humanity.

Both when he still lived with his family and after he became a disciple at Cang Qiong Mountain, he very rarely was confused by anything, because he very rarely gave much thought to things he had no interest in, his entire attention solely focused on honing the skills he already possessed and he enjoyed practicing instead.

So, when not once, not twice, but three times he was met with the baffling individual that was one Shen Jiu, he found himself stumped as to what to do with him. The boy would not back down and yet he also refused to fight him. Liu Qingge had never met someone like that before: in Bai Zhan Peak, where one's martial prowess reigns supreme, there was no-one that would refuse a challenge - even when defeat was assured - and disciples from other peaks would rather take a beating than be accused of cowardice.

Shen Jiu simply refused to behave in a way that made sense: he treated Liu Qingge's challenges with not a speck of interest, and whenever the Bai Zhan Peak disciple issued a new one, he would treat him with the same kind of disappointment one would normally direct at a small spoiled child throwing a temper tantrum.

It was downright mortifying.

Aside from...whatever the hell is going on with Nyarlathotep and Philemon on a daily basis, recently I've been craving for Time Travel Fix-It...which probably only partially counts, but if I don't say that, I'm gonna fall into the usual pit of "Enemies to Lovers" or "Because You Were Nice to Me" both of which count as Nyarlemon in one way or another, and we don't need more of me digging my own grave right now. 😂

So, my fixation with Nyarathotep and Philemon got slightly out of hand. Whoops? 😂

I really like this combination of pens + watercolor, I'm probably gonna stick to it from now on.
