               𝐼𝑁   𝑇𝐸𝑅𝑀𝑆   𝑂𝐹   𝑇𝐸𝐶𝐻𝑁𝑂𝐿𝑂𝐺𝑌   𝑇𝐻𝐸   𝑅𝐴́𝑁𝑉𝐴𝑅𝐷𝑅   𝐹𝐴𝐿𝐿   𝐻𝑂𝑅𝑅𝐼𝐵𝐿𝑌   𝑆𝐻𝑂𝑅𝑇   𝑇𝑂   𝑇𝐻𝐸   𝑅𝐸𝑆𝑇   𝑂𝐹   𝑅𝑈𝑁𝐸𝑇𝐸𝑅𝑅𝐴.      This   is   primarily   due   to   their   almost   total   isolation   from   other   cultures.      Though   their   deep   belief   in   the   power   of   omens   and   faith   in   the   sea   certainly   dulls   the   desire   to   advance   technologically.      Crossbows,   trebuchets,   and   naval   rams   are   as   far   as   the   Ránvardr  have   gotten   regarding   designs   that   would   be   common,   or   at   least   familiar,   to   other   lands.

                𝑅𝑂𝑈𝐺𝐻𝐿𝑌   𝑇𝑅𝐴𝑁𝑆𝐿𝐴𝑇𝐸𝐷   𝐴𝑆   “𝑊𝐴𝑅’𝑆   𝐵𝑂𝑈𝑁𝑇𝑌,”   the   name   refers   to   the   countless   wrecked   ships   that   litter   the   jagged   rocks   and   treacherous   waters   for   miles   beyond   the   sand.      Many   times   have   outsiders   attempted   to   invade   this   fortress   city  -  state  ;  none   have   succeeded   in   reaching   the   shores.      Though   a   generation   has   passed   since   the   last   battle,   skeletons   still   wash   up   upon   the   beaches.

ránvard smells of sea - salt and kelp,   the scent that follows a beached whale.   the first whiff fills the lungs with a welcome reprieve,   the tenth inhale leaves the sense of sickness.   it all changes the closer to the mainland you get;   kelp is exchanged for fire and ash and ocean air,   though still a constant,   flows smoother,   no longer smothering like the deadest of seas.   

no,   ránvard is everything that noxus is not.   that is why they could make such good allies.

              𝐼𝑇   𝐻𝐴𝐷   𝐵𝐸𝐶𝑂𝑀𝐸   𝐴𝑁   𝐴𝐿𝑀𝑂𝑆𝑇   𝑅𝐸𝐺𝑈𝐿𝐴𝑅   𝑂𝐶𝐶𝑈𝑅𝑅𝐸𝑁𝐶𝐸,   these   negotiations   between   the   Ránvard   people   and   the   Noxian   ambassadors.      Many   times   had   foreign   powers   attempted   to   bring   the   Ránvardr   into   their   fold.      Either   through   diplomacy   or   through   conquest   to   no   avail.      The   latter   more   obvious   by   the   scores   of   wrecked   ships   scattered   throughout   the   jagged   rocks   and   beaches   outlying   the   city-state.      Still,   it   seemed   this   ancient   graveyard   𝐻𝐴𝐷   𝐷𝑂𝑁𝐸   𝐿𝐼𝑇𝑇𝐿𝐸   𝑇𝑂   𝐷𝐸𝑇𝐸𝑅   𝑇𝐻𝐸𝑆𝐸   𝑁𝐸𝑊   “ 𝐺𝑈𝐸𝑆𝑇𝑆 ”   that   so   boldly   set   foot   upon   the   Ránvardr‘s   isolated   shores.      Yet   instead   of   some   silver-tongued   diplomat,   it   was   someone   more   fitting.      The   so-called   “Hand   of   Noxus,”   the   mightiest   warrior   to   rise   from   the   ever-expanding   empire   across   the   seas.      Better   a   fighter   speak   with   Borghild’s   kin   than   a   talker,   at   least.      It   was   more   tolerable   that   way.

I can see Borghild being the type, while  seemingly avoidant of romance, secretly and deeply desires that kind of companionship.  She longs to be someone’s only, to build her own (metaphorical) home with someone and spend the rest of her life with them.  Borghild is inwardly a very romantic and affection starved person, I think she would melt at the first chance of romance.
