I know 2016 was a pretty shitty year for... well, basically just the world in general, but for me, personally, some really great things happened in the past year: 

I (finally) finished my thesis and got my bachelor’s degree

I got a job that I acutally enjoy doing AND that pays my rent

I left my boring small town in the mountains and moved to a big coastal city

I started talking to my dad again after almost two years of anger and silence

I haven’t had a panic attack since February and I feel like my mental health is finally improving

I made some amazing new friends which I’m really grateful for

And for the first time in years happiness actually seems like something that’s possible for me instead of just an empty word.

So yeah, I know 2016 was hard for a lot (most?) of you and 2017 will probably be pretty tough, too. Trump’s gonna be President, there are elections in Germany and France in which the right-wing parties may have a shot at winning, economy in Europe is a catastrophe, black people are still shot in the streets, there’s still thousands of people forced to leave their homes fleeing oppression and terror, celebrities are gonna keep dying.

But I guess what I’m trying to say is: even with all this shit, good things can still happen, they did happen this year and they will happen in the next. So please be strong and don’t give up. I love you all and I hope from the bottom of my heart that 2017 is gonna be kind to you.

Truck plows into Christmas market Berlin, Police suspect terrorism

A truck has plowed through a Christmas market in the Charlottenburg district of Berlin. Whether it is a deliberate attack or an accident is unclear, although apparently the truck would have to have made a 90° turn to enter the square from the nearest road, suggesting it might have been deliberate.

Police have now stated they ‘suspect a terrorist attack’, and media reported an attack specifically on a Christmas market has been a threat for days. Only last week a suspect was arrested after a failed bombing on a Christmas market.

At least ‘several’ persons are said to have died and estimations of injured range from ten to 70. There is barely any info out there, neither on the driver. Updates will come soon.

It is frustrating how Clara Oswald, the companion with the most independence from the Doctor (full time job, own flat, only travels one day a week, etc), is the one people insist is most dependent on the Doctor and has her whole life revolve around him.

Starting my new job tomorrow.

Part of me is excited and looks forward to it but an even bigger part is anxious af and scared that I’m not ready for the task and won’t live up to my employer’s expectations.

My mental health has been doing so well lately and I’ve adjusted to my new home surprisingly fast, so the new job is kinda the last puzzle piece that has to work out for this whole ‘I’m gonna be adventurous and move to a big city on the other side of the country all alone with little money and no plan’-thing to be a success.

I’m just hoping I won’t screw this up because I’m so damn close to actually having my life put together and I think I could be happy here. And that’s so much more than I would’ve dared to hope a year ago.

Just please let everything work out...
