Update 05/25/23

It’s occured to me that it may benefit all of uhhh *looks at hand* two of you to know what Dreams of Prey is projected to look like, so I’ll give you a short synopsis (keep in mind that this synopsis is liable to any degree of change as I work and build on the story over time, though I doubt it will).

Dreams of Prey will be a queer horror audio drama ** following Cosmo, a down-on-their-luck high school junior who is dealing with problems at home and school. Unfortunately for them things go from bad to strange to scary as they struggle with unusual and dark dreams, a strangled relationship with their mother, and problems relating to adolescence, queerness, mental health, and neurodivergency.

Ta-da! I’ll post any updates as they come.

**Edit: WRONG!! It will be a fictional, serialized horror story with all the same elements :)

Update 05/25/23

I’ve been working on fleshing out the main crew and having a blast while doing so. Idk something about giving them traumatic backstories hurts, but it hurts

Like, my poor children. I’m so sorry to do this, but just think of the drama! Think of the character growth!! Think about how this’ll make you well-rounded, three dimensional beings who think and feel and hurt and make poor decisions and then make worse decisions before you finally figure out your shit and make good decisions!! It’ll be fine, and hey, it’s not like you’ll have to suffer exposure to abstract horrors on top of adolescent, generational, and queer problems.

Anyway, without further ado, let me briefly introduce the crew in question (made with picrew because I don’t have the skill to draw them all in a timely manner). From top-to-bottom and left-to-right we’ve got Cosmo, Silas, Peter, Trixie, and Briar. No last names yet, because I haven’t decided on any.

Hello, my name is Eden (@edenobell) and I am the creator of Dreams of Prey. If you’re reading this you’re probably a close friend of mine whom I’ve politely pestered into checking out my creation. If not that, then maybe you’ve incidentally stumbled upon this blog, or maybe, god forbid, you’ve heard about Dreams of Prey and have come to see what’s up.

Regardless of who you are, where you come from, or why you’re here, I’m grateful for your presence and support.

As of right now, Dreams of Prey is just a sandbox I’m working on. I’m still hauling big bags of sand and buckets of water, and scrounging around my garage trying for my sandcastle tools. Long story short (and without all the sandbox imagery) DoP has a long way to go before it makes its home on any streaming platforms.

With that being said, I still want to share little bits and pieces of it as it grows. I find that the more I see other people excited about my work, the more excited I become, and if I stay hyped, then I get shit done. And man, I want to see this baby through to completion.

So please, stay for a bit. Look at my little characters and tell me how cute they are. Ask me about their hopes and dreams what keeps them awake at night. Ponder at the strangeness of it all, but don’t idle on a single thought for too long, or else they might find you.
