Can you draw your interpretation of what Eliza's parents would look like?

ooooooo a challenge

a hard challenge 😭 I’m open for any headcanons on what Eliza’s parents look like but here’s something I tried?

she’s gotta get her personality from somewhere.

For her parents I went with old money vibes (I’m ngl idk what that means). The inside of their house is very traditional rich instead of modern/sleek rich so I wanted to go in that direction.

Eliza’s mom is into large jewelry! She has huge sphere earrings and an oval pendant. (my inspo being Princess Peach just like Eliza’s inspo!) She might have gotten her nose done but she’ll never tell you that. (Probably resembled Eliza’s once upon a time)

I also thought it’d be ironic if her parents both had thick poofy curly hair and Eliza is stuck with thin straight and brown 😭 - maybe why her wig is the way it is?

She picked her outfit herself btw!!! This is before the Creek - she’ll develop her attitude later

Is it fine if you draw the scouts with Shannon (idk if you remember her but she was the camp counselor in Camper on the Run and the girl scout that was with the baby scouts in Craig before the Creek) I love niche characters.

It’s insane how late I am 😭 I picked up COTC to have something quick to watch during study breaks and then after my test I just KEPT WATCHING

It’s so good. I love this show and I cannot believe it ended this year. I completely missed the bandwagon

ok I just checked the episode and I messed up the timeline but WHATEVER !

It was bugging me that I didn’t know where it was mentioned 😭 I thought I was hallucinating. Like, I literally pulled up the cotc wiki, looked up which episodes the junior forest scouts show up in, and started sifting through every scene.

Well I gave up halfway through season 3 because I finished drawing by then.

Something I had in my drafts but seeing this made me wanna add on:

Steven Universe was about having a goal and trying to accomplish it: helping corrupt gems that were affected by the war. We're not forgiving the Diamonds, we're getting them to go along with our goals. They’re the ones with the power to fix the damage, no one else can. When faced with people in power and you can’t change that they’re the ones with the power, sometimes it’s better to get them on your side. Use their power to meet your goals.

Sometimes, antagonizing those in power is the easy route. But then what? No other beings in the universe could undo the damage but the Diamonds that caused it in the first place.

That is an insanely complex message for a kids show!

I didn’t even fully get it from SU. I actually read about it in a book by a doctor who was motivated to work in health policy reform. When the newly elected mayor didn’t care about public health, she had to get the mayor on her side regardless because that’s how she gets funding to keep fighting opioid addiction in her city. People told her to resign and while that’s a powerful move in the short term, who else was going to step in and do her important work? She wasn’t aligning with the people in power, she got them to align with her. Brilliant.

I think the worse part about people claiming Steven Universe forgives Nazis, is if people just criticized how boring it is that every single villain got redeemed or how anti climatic it is that they didn't actually defeat the villain, I could at least understand that.

It's the fact that people decided that the diamonds who are the pretty typical cartoon alien villains who want to take over the earth in a kid's show, MUST represent Nazis SPECIFICALLY, and therefore the main character MUST be a Nazi sympathizer.

And like, you do have story driven kid shows like Avatar and Owl House were the villains are VERY OBVIOUSLY meant to represent real world colonizers. In both shows they take inspiration and draw parallels to real world oppression.

Avatar with Japanese colonization where one nation took over other, and Owl House with the witch trials where outsiders were persecuted. Both of these shows CHOSE real world issues to build their theme around. In this case, redeeming these villains would be HORRIBLY distasteful, to say the least.

And then you have story driven kid shows like Steven Universe and Amphibia. Where the villains are giant space aliens, and a giant newt king. Imagine if people went around saying "Guys King Andrias is LITERALLY supposed to be Hitler!!!'
