ok I just finished Sunrise on the reaping and I have a lot thoughts but this one is just strong in my brain rn

Honoring the dead

More than anything I think that’s an essential thread between all of the stories we’ve gotten from Suzanne Collins.

1. Katniss sings to rue as she dies and then half buried her in flowers before the hovercraft takes her body, honoring her with nature and beauty

2. Reaper take all of the dead bodies of the dead tributes and pulls them together, laying the flag of Panem, rebelling against the Capitol’s plan to just leave them to rot, honoring them with the respect the Capitol hadn’t and wouldn’t give them

3. Haymitch taking Louella and laying her at Snow’s feet instead of leaving her in the dust. Haymitch hiding underneath the willow tree to hold Lou Lou’s body as long as he can. Haymitch refusing to leave Maysilee’s body even as the hovercraft takes her away. In small moments of defiance and care, he honors them for what they are: human, children’s lives.

Suzanne Collins is a genius in her own right, these books are a masterpiece. It almost feels scary to read them in American today but here are. I hope to honor the lives around me in the way these fictional heroes do. Remember when you’re fighting for human rights that it’s not some obscure, political, complicated thing but it’s about human lives, human well being, human respect and care.

I’ve recently started getting into smosh and it’s awesome however I am having a very specific experience

I am (obviously) a huge d20 watcher, many rewatches in.

Smosh and d20 have very obviously purchased the same non-royalty sound package for their background music.

I am regularly watching smosh videos and all of a sudden RIZ’S THEME comes on or the outerspace mysterious theme from star struck or the Mice and Murder theme. It throws me off so bad.

Please tell me I am not the only one.

I have never watched 9-1-1. What I know about this show is limited to, really, only Eddie + Buck + Buddie and even then, it’s slim. I know Buck had a really fucked up childhood and his parents aren’t good to him. I didn’t know anything about this couch theory until 3 mins ago when I saw this TikTok.

Now a post of mine from about two months ago reads

I’m so positive Brennan has never seen this show so this is an insane media parallel that is absolutely fucking my brain. A boy has a lonely, traumatizing childhood and grows up to achieve a Found Family with a lot of traumatic experiences together and he has emotional issues with his furniture, specifically !!!, his couch, and his NAME IS EVAN?!?!?

I’m loosing it. I’m absolutely loosing my mind this is so sad why is the concept of a couch literally making me cry.
