Week 4 High progesterone levels contribute to what we all lovingly know as PMS. Bloating, low libido, sluggishness? Yeah, you know what I’m talking about. Week 4 is when exercise really matters as it naturally increases your levels of serotonin. This is also a good time to pull back on the caffeine intake if you suffer from breast soreness. . . #womenshealth #pms #menstrualcycle #holistichealth #girlhealth #naturopathicdoctor #doctor #drsinghnd #mainstreetND (at Vancouver, British Columbia)

Week 3 Estrogen levels start to dip and testosterone and progesterone surges. Unfortunately, this also means you are more prone to oily skin and breakouts. Do yourself a favour and keep your focus on clean eating this week. . . #womenshealth #pms #menstrualcycle #holistichealth #girlhealth #naturopathicdoctor #doctor #drsinghnd #mainstreetND

Week 2: As testosterone and estrogen levels start to rise, so does your energy and mood. This is a great time to have intense workouts. You are more optimistic, social, and (BONUS) at your sexiest. What a queen! . . #womenshealth #pms #menstrualcycle #holistichealth #girlhealth #naturopathicdoctor #doctor #drsinghnd #mainstreetND (at Vancouver, British Columbia)

Food is medicine, and this totally rings true when it comes to dealing with PMS. Keep your diet high in fiber, plant-based minerals, and healthy fatty acids to reduce (or even eliminate) PMS symptoms. . . #womenshealth #pms #menstrualcycle #holistichealth #girlhealth #naturopathicdoctor #doctor #drsinghnd #mainstreetND (at Vancouver, British Columbia)

KNOCK KNOCK! It’s your period 😈 . . Low estrogen levels may cause you to feel more tired than normal and cause uterine contractions (READ CRAMPS). Take this time to ‘treat yo self’ and  really dial up your pampering game.  Workouts should be gentle and restorative. . . #womenshealth #pms #menstrualcycle #holistichealth #girlhealth #naturopathicdoctor #doctor #drsinghnd #mainstreetND

Seriously though, these flakes aren’t cute ❄️ If you have a dry, itchy, flaky scalp then this post is for you! . DANDRUFF . Common causes: dry skin, oily skin, skin conditions (eczema or psoriasis), yeast-like fungus (malassezia), too many hair products. . Symptom-relief: . 🔸 T-Gel by Neutrogena (this stuff is powerful!) . 🔸Topically apply aloe vera gel, coconut oil, or olive oil . . Long-term healing: . 🔸Stress reduction . 🔸Staying optimally hydrated . 🔸Probiotics . 🔸Omega-3 rich foods (fatty fish, avocados, nuts and seeds) . PRO TIP - Try an apple cider vinegar rinse every 10 days. Add equal parts ACV and water and apply to your scalp for 60 seconds. Rinse out and deep condition your hair. 🚨Warning: This is a LONG Post! 🚨 When it comes to caring for and styling your hair, hair type matters. There are tons of resources that detail hair types, but here is your #instacheatsheet: . . . 🔺TYPE . ➖Type 1 - Straight hair 1a: Hair is flat and has no body. This type cannot hold a curl. 1b: Tends to have more body; most people with straight hair have Type 1b hair. 1c: Straight with body, and some bends. When it air dries, it has a tousled look. . 〰️Type 2 - Wavy hair 2a: Loose, beachy waves. Easily weighed down with a lot of product. 2b: Waves are more defined, can become frizzy. 2c: Waves begin to intertwine and form loose spiral curls. . ➰Type 3 - Curly hair 3a: Silky, loose S- shaped curls. Tends to need less product to maintain shape. 3b: Coily, springy curls that become very frizzy without any products 3c: Highly textured and tend to be closely packed with each other. . ➿Type 4 - Coily hair 4a: Coily with tight, cylindrical curls 4b: Tight, crimpy pattern 4c: Z-shaped curls which can shrink by more than ½ of its length . . . 🔺POROSITY Porosity refers to how your hair can absorb moisture. If you have high porosity, your hair can easily lose moisture, so layering products to retain moisture is important. . . . 🔺HOW TO: Take a strand of hair and drop it in a glass of water. If it immediately sinks, it means that it is absorbing water and has high porosity. If it floats, it has low porosity. If it slowly floats to the bottom, it has normal porosity . . . 🔺WIDTH The width of your hair affects how long your hair can become. The coarser the hair, the stronger the strand, the longer it can become. Coarse - Strands are wide and very strong Medium - Strands are strong and elastic; the strands are not too loo thick or thin Fine: Strands have a small circumference and are easily damaged . . . 🔺HOW TO: Grab a shed hair from your hairbrush and hold it up to the light. If it is barely visible, then you have fine hair. If it is thick and visible, then you have coarse hair. II HAIR II It is so much more than just dead protein sprouting from your head. Hair can be transformative and expressive. It’s history and importance  is rooted deep within many cultures, and today, in the age of wokeness, it can sign of fearlessness, acceptance, and activism.✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿 . At the end of the day, your hair is yours and by taking care of it, you can really let its true magnificence free. This week I’ll be taking a deeper look at hair and how to best take care of it! 💇🏽‍♀️ . Pro-tip: Colloidal silver is an anti-septic, moisture-sealing, hair growth-inducing superstar! Mix equal parts of colloidal silver and water in a spray bottle and saturate your hair after you have washed and deep conditioned. Do this once every few weeks and feel the love. . . #hair #naturalhair #healthyhair #curly #straight #wavy #long #short #hairtips #hairfacts #beautifulhair #healthy #naturalbeauty #vitamins #healthyhabits #healthfacts #loveyour (at Vancouver, British Columbia)

It’s an age old question: To pop or not to pop? 🤔 . . Here is the simplest answer: If it is a blackhead, or a whitehead that is at the surface, then go ahead. DO NOT pop papule, nodules, or cysts as that can lead to delayed healing and scarring.🙅🏽‍♀️ . . When you are ready to pop (either using an extractor or fingers), make sure to cleanse your skin beforehand and apply a hot washcloth for a few minutes to soften skin. After you have done the deed, apply a small amount of antibiotic cream to prevent any infections. 🧖🏽‍♀️ . . #skin #acne #pimples #skincare #ndapproved #happyskin #skinhealth #vibrantskin #glow #glowup #clearskin #flourishingskin #happy #healthy #facebeat #luminous #naturopathicdoctor #drsinghnd #mainstreetnd #livevibrantly

Props to @kendricklamar for saying what we are all thinking. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 . . Not too long ago, we were discovering that 99% of the images in magazines were photoshopped and that the girl in the magazine didn't even look like the girl in the magazine. It is safe to say that now, in the age of the Snapchat filter, this issue has proliferated. Most of the images that we are bombarded with daily are undoubtedly photoshopped-filtered-smoothed-recoloured, and that is AFTER the plastic surgery, Botox, collagen-injections, and thousands of dollars worth of makeup. . . . No judgement, everybody needs a pair of puppy ears on the roughest of days, but let's celebrate natural skin. Let's celebrate the pimples, the eczema, the scars, the wrinkles, the discolouration, the fat, and the stretch marks. True beauty isn't flawless and airbrushed. It's happy and healthy, whatever that may look like for you 😘😘😘 . . #skin #skincare #naturalskincare #keepinitreal #loveyourself #skinacceptance #lovethebodyyourein #bodypositive #health #wellness #selfcare #beautiful #drsinghnd #mainstreetnd #livevibrantly (at Vancouver, British Columbia)

🎵 itchy skin, itchy skin, itchy skin, itchy skin 🎵.... (shout out to @lilpump 😁) . . As much as I love to lather on the #fairtrade Shea butter on my dry, winter skin, we all know that the best healing comes from within. Long story short: Drink plenty of room temp water throughout the day and keep your diet rich in fatty foods. 🍴 . . FOODS TO ENJOY ✔️ açai berries ✔️ almonds and walnuts ✔️ pineapples ✔️ all the avocados . FOODS TO LIMIT ✖️dry, salty, processed foods ✖️allergenic foods: soy, wheat, dairy, peanuts ✖️overindulging in sugar . . . #naturalskincare #natural #skin #health #healing #loveyourskin #naturalbeauty #foodismedicine #beautiful #livevibrantly #naturopathicmedicine #drsinghnd #mainstreetnd
