A listener for you! I tried pretty hard to pull in Moonwatcher’s information for her, since I like the thought they’re related[as,, I said in the Moonwatcher post]

Moonwatcher! I adore Moon so so so much?? She has literally All Of The Rights and she’s such a special character to me personally. I like to think she’s a descendant of Listener!

-SUPER drenched in headcanons, as all of my designs are

-Her forehead spot and the ‘holes’ in the spots along her back are actually only found in the NightWing tribe on prophets

-Similarly, her tiny ears and the drop shadow on the spots along her back are only found on mind-readers!

-I know NightWings are supposed to be all-black but like. I like contrast, okay.

-Her wing-stars are in a swirl

-Said swirl mirrors the outer-wing swirl on the back of her wings

-Yes, she’s purple. No, you can’t change my mind.

-She’s SMALL. Like,, just so small. NightWings in general are small and Moon is small for her tribe-- Kinkajou is actually a little taller than her!

-The lighter colors are also ‘born-under-the-moons’ things- NightWings born inside or under triple-new-moons don’t have them.

-Lighter colors DO appear on all NightWings born under any kind of shining moon-- even if its just one moon in a crescent.

Moonwatcher Design by the end of the week!

I had to figure out how exactly I want to work with NightWings, but I should be getting the Moonwatcher design out by the end of the week. Thanks for waiting so patiently, y’all! I’ll open the blog up for requests as soon as she’s posted(and probably put up some sketchy qinterwatcher content because hhhngh they’re Good)

Ah!! It was so nice and surprising to see you reblog this and I Have Been Thinking On This.

I didn’t mention in the original post because I didn’t think it was relevant, but I think its relevant now-- I’m a nonbinary person who doesn’t quite identify as trans nonbinary. In my personal experience, which is not the same as a trans person, my name is a part of me.

Based off of what we do know of IceWing culture, and what we can infer from that- I’ve always read the books as “IceWing names have to be approved by the queen”; and then they get put on The Wall and all that jazz. As such, the trans gift statue allows for a seamless transition into the proper body, but does not provide a name. The dragon is given a week after the transition to get their name approved by the queen, and then its changed in official records and everything.

Again; in my experience, I didn’t just ‘pick out a name’, it was a name that I found after years of genuinely adoring it. For these dragons I imagine its the same; they already know their names, they just need the bodies to go with them.

Not a Design but IceWing Headcanon???

They’re SUPER LGBT+ friendly! IceWings are a rigid society and those are always depicted as anti-LGBT+, but like. Snowfox and Snowflake are definitely lesbians. And Snowfox is the ancestor of all royal IceWings, because Glacier didn’t have any other heirs.

Clearly, then, either Snowfox had a clutch of eggs with a male IceWing and instantly dumped him– or IceWings have a way for m/m and w/w relationships to have their own kids. We know as a fact that IceWings had a well organized animus system– consider, for a moment, this:

“The Gift Of Love”, and the next animus having “The Gift Of Self”. 

So like, basically what I’m seeing here is the gift of love coming from an animus who was a lesbian that was with the current IceWing heir. And like, the heir’s mom was super chill about it but also very much “You’re going to have to have kids one day” about it?

And maybe said animus– I’m going to call her Polar for now, I think –was struggling to figure out what exactly the tribe needed from her, y’know? They already have all of these amazing things– and then it strikes her that like. She and her love can’t have heirs. So she starts planning.

Eventually she makes it to the day when her gift to the tribe is revealed and she just unveils this ice sculpture- and it’s a really well done sculpture, too, of two featureless eggs with a group of dragons surrounding them? And underneath there’s like,, a little hollow space underneath it, and she speaks the words that “This statue, when asked, will produce a clutch of eggs for any group of dragons- regardless of gender, sexuality, or biological sex.” or something like that!

And then she and her now-wife have a clutch of three eggs and they’re just so happy about it and they love their kids!

One of their kids, though, is ftm trans and he doesn’t like. Have a good way to transition. So one of his siblings- the animus sibling -is just like “HEY MOM I KNOW MY GIFT!” and three months later there’s another statue next to the egg statue that’s literally just. If a dragon touches it and asks with a specific key word, they are magically transformed into their gender and not forced to stay in their biological body.

I dunno I just feel like this one(1) time the IceWings were like “Yeah?? That’s not cool we’re gonna fix that so that we don’t have to worry about high ranking generals not feeling safe in their own body or our lesbian queens never having heirs.”

And designs are back with my love. my darling. the baby. i love her. yall can never understand how much i love kinkajou. Kinkajou is baby and I love her i just would like to spend one(1) afternoon talking to her and laughing with her and giving her a hug because she DESERVES it and her scars are on the other wing because I maybe forgot to draw them apologies.

-The fun part about this was that I’ve actually designed Kinkajou before

-But not as,,, a dragon

-So I had to base this off of that and a lot of colors are colorpicked from that

-RainWings have beaks

-Beaks stay one(1) color at all times-- same with the underscales --but they can change colors

-RAINWINGS HAVE BEAKS

-I really don’t have so many notes for her design ghjkas 

-ROUND. All her shapes are round 

-Kinkajou emotes through her scales and the complexity of their designs. This is her standard excited self but like,, if she were less excited than usual; some of the paler yellows might disappear, or if she were extremely happy and excited there would be more splotches and stripes and such.

-Look I just love her so much okay.

-I just. I just love her.

Since The IceWing Headcanon Went Off.... Its RainWing Time

Okay so to start this off I’d like to say that, in my eyes, IceWings and RainWings are both extraordinarily outside of Pyrrhia LGBT+ norms-- but both are in inherently different ways. IceWings provide resources so that its completely normal, even though their majority is still cishet-- they’re different from the norms because they’re more “so what” about it than most other tribes.

RainWings, on the other hand, are outside of the norms because this is their norm. 

Out of the seven tribes of Pyrrhia, six of them have a majority of members that are monogamously cishets. They were born in the right body and they can settle down with a dragon from the opposite sex and be happy just fine. Since Darkstalker’s time, IceWings have been seeing their ratio even out to the path of being roughly half-and-half, but there is still currently a clear majority of cishets.

The seventh tribe are the RainWings. The “standard norm” for RainWing culture is to be polyamorous, genderfluid, and panromantic/pansexual. Its common for one RainWing to have five or six partners, and each of those partners to have five or six of their own-- a large majority of the tribe are all dating each other collectively.

Gender identities in the RainWing tribe are just as fluid as their scales-- a lot of RainWing culture revolves around fluidity, whether it be your partners’ partners, the relaxed schedules of their days, or their hatchery system; RainWings are inherently fluid. They just don’t see the point in sticking to one gender-- if they feel like a boy one day and a girl the next and sometimes they’re not either, that’s normal in their society.

There are still monogamous RainWings, RainWings who stick to one gender, and RainWings who do have to take gender into account when falling in love-- and they’re accepted just as well as the rest of the RainWing tribe --but they are the distinct minority here.

The RainWing hatchery system actually also stems from their lovelife system-- lets say we have Coconut, right? And Coconut has kids with Parakeet-- all of Parakeet’s partners and all of Coconut’s partners are going to want to parent these kids, and then all of those partners’ partners are going to want to parent the kids too, and so the RainWings just said “Y’know what???? We’re All Collectively Parents!”

Winter, the icy boy!!

I want,, I wan, wan dr,, draw qinterwatcher,,,, so BAD,,, I would be doing Kinkajou’s design right now but instead I’m just working on Winter and Moonwatcher because then I can draw Qinterwatcher art!! And I love Qinterwatcher!!

Requests will be open as soon as I finish Moonwatcher’s design.

-This design is almost more headcanon-filled than Qibli’s design is

-So like. Listen. IceWing horns make no sense. That’s exposed keratin, probably, in the freezing cold. Cover it up with some SKIN please!! Keep it WARM! These dragons are already reptilian, they have to start staying warm. Instead of clearly defined spikes, I hc that IceWIng spikes/spines are covered in their base fine “furry” scales and look almost like fur.

-He, too, has darker markings than most IceWings

-BUT that’s because he’s a royal IceWing!!

-In nature, having lots of dark markings and no defense/offense would be like, a death sentence in the arctic??

-So consider: When IceWIngs set up their tribe, they rallied around the person with the most dark markings, because clearly they are good at surviving!! 

-That comes through the years until now, when First Circle IceWings almost always have super nice rich dark markings, while lower-circle IceWings very rarely have them

-IceWing underbellies can be one-tone or two-toned-- in a single toned underbelly, it matches their blood; while in a two-toned underbelly it has a dark center. Most First Circle IceWings have two-toned underbellies.

Qibli, our collective son!! I love him!! He’s BABY!! I cannot express my love for him enough!

I started with the second arc, I know, but look. Look. Qibli and Kinkajou are my favorite characters in the series by FAR, and Moon is my third with Winter as my fourth. I ADORE the second arc, I’m super biased towards it and I know that!! Don’t @ me about this!!

-Qibli follows almost all of the SandWing design rules I try to stick to, except for two:

-He has more of a beak than almost any SandWing

-His markings are MUCH darker than other SandWings. 

-These are because he has more close relations to RainWings-- which are ancestors of SandWings, but who’s genes have almost entirely left.

-His dark markings are actually very cute in the tribe!

-I know I forgot his earring in this reference, krita was being annoying about exporting that version >:00

-The gradient he has helps him to hide in the sand

-All SandWIng Tails Match Their Eyes

-All SandWing Eyes Have A Ringed Iris

-This is just. SandWing fact.

-Not technically a design note, but he’s dating Winter and Moonwatcher, they’re a triad, Qinterwatcher is OT3!
