I remember skipping my 4th hour class nearly every day for the second semester one year because my 4th hour was gym first semester and I could go there and play and run and have fun because the teachers thought I was still in the class.

I loved gym class so much, more than any other class, including art class.

genuinely distraught by the Alison Bechdel discourse, I truly believe she is not hateful but I also recognise that she has had and still has internal biases and prejudice to unpack about the trans community

On a personal level I have found her work so instrumental in coping with my own queerness and in deepening and understanding my relationships with my parents. with her work in mind I have been inspired to decentre my father's abuse, and to try and extend compassion to my mother's historical behaviour

none of that goes away, but it's painful to know that she struggles to empathise with trans people the way I have always empathised with cis lesbians. I'm not calling to cancel her but I do have deep personal sorrow about it and it's hard to sit with right now
