Short exerpt from the first WIP I intend to finish:

The Investigator had never been a fortunate man. As a child games of chance, which were often enjoyed and marketed within the Facilitated Learning Environment he had spent most of his youth, always seemed to punish the young Investigator for playing. 

Instead, he had found his own forms of entertainment. Sometimes pilfering from the machines when no one was around, other times calculating the probabilities of certain children hitting a big win. The investigator learnt sooner than most that whilst skills grew and amalgamated into ever polished tools, luck was a currency easily spent and impossible to nurture.
