ao3 allows sexually explicit real people fiction (”rpf”) involving actual literal REAL FUCKING MINORS

theres been a lot of back and forth about ao3 in the past year or so but this is genuinely so fucking inexcusable and i’m absolutely disgusted

i was browsing ao3 and stumbled across a sexually explicit fic involving tubbo, a minecraft youtuber who is 16 fucking years old, and immediately went to ao3′s tos. i read through all of the rules about content and tagging and didn’t find anything about rpf involving real life minors, but i thought i must just be missing something or it must be an oversight because SURELY this is against the rules right???

this is the email i received after i reported it:

sexually explicit rpf involving real life minors is not against the tos, because the tos is only concerned with US law, i.e. child pornography. then they write that there is a distinction between cp and “written fiction depicting characters under the age of 18.” keyword CHARACTERS. even though they literally then go on to talk about their policy on rpf, which is that it’s never harrassment or against tos unless it specifically calls for or advocates harrassment against someone. then they give their shpeal about how your experience is your own responsibility, use tags, don’t like don’t read, etc etc

so i emailed them back like, hey, this isn’t a character though, this is a living breathing person who is underage, why isn’t this against tos, and i received this in response:

so because fans have said that rpf is important to their fannish experience, and it’s transformative, ao3 allows content involving real life minors.

they do not distinguish between rpf and non-rpf on any grounds. i looked around and there are HUNDREDS of other stories like the one i found with another minecraft youtuber who is also 16, and i dont doubt there are other fics for other minors who have been in the public eye like the it and stranger things casts. and ao3 explicitly allows this.

this is so fucking sickening to me and i dont even know what to do. fandom is really a fucking disease sometimes god

imagine thinking killing off allura would be an amazing idea.

a suvivor of genocide, who thought herself and coran had been the only last two alteans from their planet, just fucking dies for whatever plothole reasons. (i ain’t watch the bullshit this time around lol)

imagine all these black kids who’ve watched this show, having allura being they’re favorite because she had skin like them and was powerful and elegant. knowing that she went through so, so, so much trauma throughout her short life and was never able to fully recover nor grieve.

allura is honestly such an amazing character who had so much potential throughout the series that should have been explored. as the heart of voltron, she was treated like dirt constantly, pushed around by the writers who were only really there to make her suffer, and the fandom was just. yall just were racist towards her. putting her through the fucking catastrophe of being romantically involved with a genocidal leader who used her and her people she never knew about, only to fucking make haha funny jokes when he appears again in s7(the game ep). it’s frankly disgusting and leaves such a nasty taste in my mouth.

allura dying shows us that lm and jds and whoever worked on these episodes that they don’t care. they had enough nerve to put a half black boy’s family in an obviously uncomfortable slavery type situation, n/zi genocide bullshit + the thought of redeeming the character involved in that, a cuban boy’s absolutely destroyed character that they ran through the wash that could’ve been something all while trashing him every breathing second, a brown gay man’s death on screen a minute after he is introduced prior to the showrunners hyping him up, and especially a gay japanese man with ptsd solely being used for torture and the development of other characters(keith).

these showrunners dont care about poc! they never fucking did. they don’t care because they’ve excused all the racism and just let it slide. these fucking white people working as heads for the show don’t give a fuck about us and the fact you think they do shows how wrapped up about such a fucking disaster of a show you are.

black kids watching v slur deserved better than this. we deserved better than allura being treated like this over and over with no means of fixing it. sorry’s won’t make such an awful stain of constant and blatant racism go away.
