Maybe Fyodor is like a parasite??? Like whenever someone kills him (crime) he takes over their body (punishment)? I know he looks the same each time so maybe the ability shapes his new body to look like him until he’s inevitably killed again. Then every time he’s killed people are like “we got Dostoevsky!…wait who’s that guy” and he’s already moved on to another host.

I don’t know where the hell he’d be after the helicopter killing, though. And this theory also doesn’t explain how he’s killed people just by touching them (though I think Dazai mentioned he could have been using Hawthorne’s blood bullets?) so it certainly doesn’t cover everything. But if I’m anywhere near right I’ll scream

So I’ve seen that a lot of people (myself included) are coming to the conclusion that Fyodor’s ability likely has something to do with being able to transfer his consciousness to another person (or switch places with another person). The trigger for this ability being either that Fyodor’s blood must get on the person, or the person has to actually kill Fyodor.

So I just wanted to drop the idea here. Are we certain Ace hung himself??

Because with the information we got in this new chapter, I’m not so sure that he did.

What if, instead of hanging himself like we were led to believe, Ace actually hung Fyodor?? Killing Fyodor would have deactivated Fyodor’s ‘space and consciousness’ ability without putting Ace at risk. Not to mention, I really doubt Ace would have the courage to hang himself without being one hundred percent certain it’s the right move. (I know I sure as hell wouldn’t have).

So, if Ace did hang Fyodor, rather than himself, this would support the idea that upon death, Fyodor switches places with his killer, and would tie in nicely with the name of his ability.

Ace killed Fyodor, which would be the ‘crime’ and switching places and dying in Fyodor’s place would be Ace’s punishment.
