More Likely to be in Tissaia’s Bed than (person)…
Fans have had…issues with this scene.
Tumblr media
Yes, this scene. It starts off with such *hopes* too. Tissaia’s standing at the window, her hair down, and *smiling* and then we cut to…
Tumblr media
*cue the screams*
So, may I propose a few more *likely* occupants of this bed?
Tumblr media
Triss, since she was just arriving in this same room the previous episode. Perhaps she slept over.
Tumblr media
Books. Beds are for reading in, naturally.
Tumblr media
Yen’s WANTED poster. Tissaia was staring at it pensively in the last episode, just before she had a visitor. One gets the impression she’s spent a lot of time staring at it these past few weeks.
Tumblr media
A Completely Ordinary Owl. I’m sure Tissaia would just be musing about recent news to the bird. Owls seem to be good listeners.
Tumblr media
Oh dear, who put that in the bed? Shoo!
Tumblr media
Peace talks with Emhyr. Something something sleeping with the enemy, etc. He’s looking at a map of the Continent. Perhaps he’ll make Tissaia empress.
Tumblr media
And really, all of these at once in a wild orgy is a more likely scenario than (Censored) being allowed within a mile of her bed in any stretch of canon.

Ventured in to the tags and now I'm baffled
I thought Siuan's death was perfect. Inspiring speech, tragic and brutal end, exactly what the story needed. Am I going to miss her? Absolutely. I wish she and Morraine could retire to the river and fuck all this world-saving nonsense. But that's not the story they're inhabiting, and frankly her post-stilling arc in the books was absolute dogshit writing and I'm glad we're not going to get it. Instead we got a final goodbye with Morraine two episodes ago and a final scene this episode that were worthy of her character.
My immediate reaction to her death was "thank god Raffe doesn't have Jordan's hangups about killing women, because that means they're allowed good deaths"
I'm just. So confused. She was a good character that got a good end. That's something that should be celebrated.

softer than satin was the light from the stars warmer than May, her tender sighs
Inspiration is the dress from the film What a Way To Go! (1964), the hair comb a design borrowed from René Lalique

The first piece in a collection of art I've been doing for the original story Hymn of Sand and Stars by @wordherders-hat, also known as @clydethistles. Those of you who have been following me for the last few years will remember that I've done art for her Selkie fic, and many other wonderful F/F stories. The first two chapters of the story (and accompanying art) are available for free on Patreon and HIGHLY recommended.
Hymn of Sand and Stars follows Ruan, a fiery-haired Liathilean spear maid, daughter of chieftains but exiled from the island she calls home. She will meet the Veiled Lady, a mysterious figure who lives in a gilded prison and wears the veil of a moon-priestess, guarded at all times by a retinue of warrior women. Ruan joins their ranks but soon discovers she has sworn to protect far more than she might have imagined.
Free chapter updates monthly, or skip the wait for the newest five chapters by subscribing to a tier. Lots of wonderful things are already waiting for you, including other (amazing) art by @mercisnm of characters within the story.

WordHerder content available for FREE
As part of ongoing efforts to ensure more people get to read my current wlw novel (Hymn of Sand and Stars), previously published chapters AND artwork (from @ehay and @mercisnm) will now be available to all Free Members on my Patreon. These will drop as serialized chapters with one chapter and its corresponding artwork being released per month. Becoming a Free Member only requires you to sign-up with an email address and password. Your email address is not shared with third-parties and will only be used to contact you about my content if you select that option. No payment info is needed and you will enjoy several other benefits including access to a dedicated Discord server. Changes will be in effect from 1st February but you are welcome to sign up at any point before or after that date. This post details exactly what benefits you would receive. Paid members will continue to enjoy early access and read up to five chapters ahead. Why, you may wonder, am I keeping free content on Patreon rather than posting on ao3? The short answer is it is for my peace of mind knowing my original work is less likely to be scraped if it is only visible to someone with a verified account. It is also an easy way to provide you with the pdfs, epubs, and image files. Any support whether it be with paid subscriptions, commenting as a free member or simply spreading the word is very welcome. I would appreciate all the reblogs you can muster as I know there were several people keen to read but unable to commit to paid subscriptions and would love to make sure they see this!

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments; love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove.
O no, it is an ever-fixèd mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wand'ring bark
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come.
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom:
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.
