So what this paint company does is take iron pollution from abandoned mines that are polluting soils and rivers and makes iron based red pigment paints out of it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Basically they realized hey no one's cleaning this shit up, it's polluting the streams, killing all the fish, making the water undrinkable and there's a huge market for it so why not make money by cleaning it the fuck up?
Tumblr media
They remove this stuff by the industrial bucket load from the rivers. The idea is if it's in a painting, if it's in your home, it's not poisoning wildlife.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
anyway its cool as shit, please support tf out of these people https://gamblinstore.com/reclaimed-earth-colors-set/

Take this positive ratio. Go slayyyy
IMPORTANT PSA TO THOSE NEW TO TUMBLR OR REALLY ANYONE ON THIS SITE IN GENERAL:
IT IS OK TO REBLOG SPAM AND LIKE SOMEONE'S CONTENT ON THEIR BLOG NO ONE HERE IS GOING TO BE WEIRDED OUT, IN FACT IT IS ENCOURAGED THIS IDEA THAT SOCIALIZATION = BAD IS A TOXIC CAPITALISTIC TOOL DESIGNED BY HELLSITES LIKE TWITTER TO LEACH MONEY AND GOODWILL FROM YOUR BODY. I honest to god have no idea why "ratioing" on twitter is bad, like the act of engagement is considered a bad thing as if twitter were trying to encourage your toxic rage. oh wait that is exactly what twitter is doing. Twitter's entire business model is to encourage you to get outraged and to profit off of your rage induced engagement.
TUMBLR. DOES. NOT. HAVE. RATIOS. REBLOGGING IS A GOOD THING HERE. NEVER APOLOGIZE FOR THAT, AND HONESTLY MY MEMORY IS SO CRAP I FORGET Y'ALL RESPOND TO MY STUFF ANYWAYS.
All you need to do is change your profile pic and post something, and congratulations you now have a valid Tumblr citizenship. also to you twitter users: you can't cancel people on tumblr. this is a website full of eccentric weirdos. We are so far away from the mainstream that tumblr struggles to find advertisers for this site. At one point tumblr was very toxic, and the toxic tumblr people would eventually move to twitter during the porn ban. Twitter + the pandemic simply gave the toxic weirdos mainstream power to ruin people's lives. politely fuck off with your toxic crap, no one here is afraid to call you out on your obvious bullshit like on twitter. We don't have anything to hide here and even if we did your impact means NOTHING here. If you try to make tumblr toxic again then you will not be welcomed here by the community. Behave.

I was gonna get eaten by a black hole, what was i supposed to do? Let it eat me?
I was floating in space, watching everything be eaten by a black hole. I started screaming really loud, to the point that it rang my ears for some reason, and the black hole avoided me.

I wanna ask the other writers in Writeblr, specifically those who write powers and super powers and stuff.
How would you work The Code of Hammurabi as a power? In all kinds of genre.
How would it work in a superhero or a fantasy setting?
I'd love to see your interpretations, here's two of mine.
The bearer of the power allows them to impose laws or rather, rules that must be followed. Those who are around are to follow it unconditionally, even if it's not in their knowledge.
Ex: Imagine eating in a restaurant, then suddenly you and those around you can't use their left hand, because the bearer imposed the wacky rule that "right hands are the only things to be used when eating."
Or
The Code of Hammurabi is an actual book, that is sentient. It gives the bearer rules daily that need to be followed for the whole day, or else they will be punished. This ranges from ridiculous to exhausting rules, like "each sentence must have 17 syllables" or "Walk with a quad-cane" or " use only your thumbs." The Code will give rewards, depending on how well they followed the rule. Ranging to permanent changes to the body like losing body weight, or gaining an extra height, or something disturbing such as gaining the temporary ability to impose a law or two to someone that they have to follow for the day, week, month, year, or lifetime, depending on the bearer's performance. It will also give the bearer sudden rules, to challenge and torment the bearer, but they'll be able to receive a pleasure or a reward, very much fitting for the challenge.

Hi! I’m interested in writing a realistic teen fiction novel set in high school, focusing on multiple students and their everyday lives both within and outside of school. I want the story to feel like you're reading someone's diary, similar to shows like Freaks and Geeks, Skam, and My Mad Fat Diary. Sooo, any prompts or ideas to help me get started? Or advice? Anything will do! Thank you so much!
I don't have much to give you, I'm afraid. I don't have much experience in writing.
If you want to give it a diary vibe, i have some few ideas i'd like to throw out.
1: Create two parts of the story, a Diary centered part, and the point of view part. Something that looks like this:
"Dear Diary,"
"I'm writing this part in class, because i can't hold it in much longer, i need to sort my feelings out... (Person A) asked (Person B) on a date! It should've been (Person C)!"
----
"Will you go out with me? Will you let me date you?"
Shocked, I looked at the commotion in front of me, (A) had just held (B)'s hands, and they looked at each other's eyes, cheering and shouting filled the classroom, followed with a long silence, awaiting which one of them begins saying their piece. This should not be happening! What about (C)? This will kill (C)!
This gives two points of view, a point of view of the writer at the time of event, and the point of view of the writer some time later, they may be, less emotional, or more emotional, more detailed, less detailed.
Idea 2:
You could try giving each character their own diary logs, since we're going for the diary vibe.
Idea 3:
Back in highschool, a teacher proposed having a class journal and a class whiteboard where all students can add their logs of what happened, or want to say something anonymously, or log something anonymously. This didn't work well in my school, but it's a good idea to start with.
I hope i gave you good ideas, or if they are crappy, now you know what not to do. I hope you have a wonderful day!

I am a writer.
Reach out to me. It doesn't matter if we are mutuals, or if you've never even so much as Liked one of my posts before. It doesn't matter if you're an experienced author, or just writing your very first poem.
Nerd out to me. About your stories, about mine. About your characters, about mine. About the histories and religions of your world, or mine.
Gush at length about how much you love the dynamics between two characters, or the subtext of a moment. Vent about how frustrated you are at the lack of conclusion, or the need to continue.
Tell me your favorite and least favorite things, what you loved, what you hated, what you want more of, what you want less of.
Tell me you loved my work, or hated it. Tell me you liked it, or struggled to get through it.
Tell me you adore your worlds, or want them burned. Tell me you can't wait to write more, or how much you dread it.
Reach out to me, call on me. Use me as a resource for feedback, a receptacle of knowledge, of information, of ideas, for you to bounce off of.
I will listen. I will talk. I will offer advice or consolation. I will do whatever is needed of me to help you, to motivate you, to answer your questions and satisfy what curiosities I can.
I am a writer. That means I will never turn away an opportunity to share what exists in my mind. If you need comfort, conversation, education, or just want someone to share your thoughts with, I am here.
I am a writer. That means I will never refuse a person their chance to share what exists in their mind. If you need to explain, exposit, elaborate, educate, or just want to ramble about the ideas flying through your head, I am here.
And I am not alone.
I am not the only writer available.
There are others, all around the world, all around the internet, and a great many of them exist here in Tumblr. People who will listen. People who will help.
I am not alone.
And neither are you.
I am a writer. And so are you.
We are writers. And we stick together, because at the end of the day, when all is said and done, and the ink stains our fingers and our clothes, when the pen lays at rest and the words coat the page...
The only ones who can truly, fully understand the depth of our minds are those who know it themselves.
We are writers. And we are at our best together.

The 8 Point Story Arc
1. Stasis
This is the status quo, what life is like for your character before the story really begins. This could last several chapters, or be implied rather than shown if your story begins in media res. Example: Harry Potter’s life with the Dursleys.
2. Trigger
Synonymous with the inciting incident, this is something that happens to the character that kick starts their journey. The trigger could be bad or good, which could affect the nature of the Quest. Example: Percy Jackson is attacked by a monster on a school field trip, and he finds out that he’s a demi-god.
3. Quest
The protagonist has a quest, and sets out on it. This takes up the middle portion of the story. I think the best example is any of the Percy Jackson books, in which Percy Jackson literally goes on a “Quest” starting about 25% into the book.
4. Surprise
This could be interpreted two ways, either as multiple events that happen throughout the course of middle section, or one event that changes the hero’s quest, or both. In the first interpretation, this would be either good or bad turns of fortune, conflicts, obstacles, and revelations that move the middle portion along. In the second interpretation, this could be something big that clarifies the true nature of the conflict, or lifts a veil for the protagonist, which would likely happen about halfway or two thirds into the novel. You can, of course, have both.
5. Critical Choice
The protagonist’s true character is revealed when they are given a choice. This a monumental moment in a character arc. Their decision reflects the growth that they have made along the journey; they wouldn’t have made the same decision during the stasis. This is often between a good but hard choice, and a bad but easy choice. For instance, the choice between betraying a friend to be one of the cool kids, and the choice to stand up for a friend against terrifying bullies.
6. Climax
The result of the critical choice, and the highest point of tension in the story. Think, Harry Potter facing Voldemort for the final time at the end of the Deathly Hallows. Who will win? Who will lose?
7. Reversal
Things begin to change in the protagonist’s favour and they defeat the final obstacle. Example: Cinderella putting on the glass slipper and proving that she was the girl at the ball. A new status is achieved.
8. Resolution
The ending of the story, in which a new stasis is achieved. This could be several chapters or a few pages in the case of a cliff hanger. Loose plot threads are tied up, and a readers are given a sense of closure.
How to use the 8 Point Story Arc
This story structure has its pros and cons. One pro is that you have a lot of wiggle room with these story beats, and it is a time honoured story structure. The issue, on the other hand, is that they’re also quite vague, which you may not want. Everyone interprets these points differently.
In many ways this story structure works best for short stories, because short stories don’t have a long middle, and the two beats ‘Quest’ and ‘Surprise,’ may be all that you need. But in a novel, ‘Quest’ and ‘Surprise’ may seem rather insubstantial for the middle portion of the novel, which most people struggle the most with anyway.
You can also use this structure on multiple levels, using it to plan your entire book, but also using it to plan chapters and scenes within your book.
If you’d like to read more about the 8-Point Story Arc, read about it in Nigel Watts’ book, Writing a Novel and Getting Published.
