Those are the nasty enemies you will have to face in the dungeons of Ersidria! 

There are over hundred in total, but some are kind of classified yet :)

3d bosses in a 2d game

Eidolons - the game I’m working on - is topdown, grid-based, turn-based and uses tokens for units. Yet somehow I think me and my artist are managing to add 3d pre-rendered bosses into the mix, if only to make them stand out more :)

It all began with my realization that the final boss - the Black Leviathan, whom we sometimes just call Cthulhu, though he’s really more of a mutated mindflayer-spider-kraken made in an ancient alien genoforge... Erm, yes, he needed some really special visuals. So here he is, a prototype at least!

Right, that was surreal I guess. 

So next we went on to make a classic kind of angry stone golem.

Then it seemed like a good idea to experiment more with *bones*. There were many versions of this one, but you can’t really beat the Mephistus the Skully Reaper. 

We have yet to finish him really, and the effects, damn, I’ll have to remake them completely. 

Then finally, we came to the good old metal and make the Crimson Knight.

Dark winds rise, Nethergate calls

Our new poster is just about ready. It was a long road there, here is how it began:

The scene is a difficult one, I probably should have given up on it. The fallen knight was stabbed by the woman here - who’s our protagonist - as part of the Ritual that is required for the Nethergate Quest. The Wanderer forms the first Ash Ring, and the Eidolon Chain is begun. It’s a long story, start here if you want to put the pieces together - you won’t regret it :)

Dusk falls on Ersidria

Evening full of grandeur, skies tinged with red Mountains crowned with crimson, treetops with scarlet blaze As the dusk is falling, night settles in Stars slowly come out, moon glides skywards ...Still cheerless is in my soul, my heart filled with cares...

Longing for the misty shores, weather-beaten strands so poor Where the weeping sky archs over water calm Pining for primeval woods, murky shade of leafy roof Where the silent trees arch over our path

And so it begins...

At last, I arrive at Greyrock, the infamous prison-fortress where the Veil Wardens stand guard over darksome mists of northern Ersidria... If there is any place in this world I could belong to, this would be it...
