🤗💥❌️🤩?
🤗 What advice would you give to new fanfic writers that are just getting started?
This is technical rather than big picture, but vary your sentence length! It helps so much! Your writing will have flow and keep the reader’s attention so much more easily if your sentences have different lengths. Using different length sentences will force you to change up your sentence structure which elevates your prose so much.
💥 How do you feel about criticism?
I only want criticism when I solicit it from specific people. (Which is to say, I want honest criticism from my betas.) And I only solicit criticism from people whose opinions/feedback I want and value. Every other rando on the internet should follow the rule “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all”.😂 If the fic isn’t for you, hit the back button! But I don’t want to hear about it.
❌ What's a trope you will never write?
‘Met when they were kids’ is generally a trope that does absolutely nothing for me. I’m almost always more interested in my faves meeting each other as adults and unlocking each other’s tragic backstories.
🤩 Who is your favorite character to write?
Admiral Thomas “Iceman” Kazansky 🫡

✨✅🥺🤲
✨ Give you and your writing a compliment. Go on now. You know you deserve it.
I think I’m pretty good at writing dialogue and using dialogue and conversations for characterization purposes. Giving different characters different voices.
✅ What's something that appears in your fics over and over and over again, even if you don't mean to?
Coping with the passage of time and aging comes up a lot in my fics. Maybe a little existential dread thrown in for good measure. Shame and loneliness, too, are themes that keeps popping up in my fics, across multiple fandoms.
🥺 Is there a certain type of moment or common interaction between your characters that never fails to put you in your feels?
The two of them acknowledging that they’re aging. Recognizing that they’re getting older, that they’ve spent a lifetime together. It’s catnip to me.
🤲 Would you please share a snippet of a wip?
“You take me to the hospital, they’ll never let me fly again.” Mav squeezes his eyes shut, blinking against dazed eyes as another racking shiver makes its way through his body. “You know they will, Ice,” he pleads. “The FAA gets jumpy if they hear you saw a sad movie. They'd pull my license so goddamned fast if they thought... this.” And what a horrifying thought that is. “Mav…,” Ice trails off broken and desperate, “Have you been flying like this? God, please tell me you haven't been flying like this.” Mav shakes his head vehemently. “No! No, no, no, Ice, I swear. I swear. I haven't. I wouldn't. I swear. I’ve just been fixing her up some, that's all. I swear, Ice. No flying.”
