There’s a WHOLE massive trope of hurt/comfort where the whole function of the guy in those scenes is to be helpless. We love scenes where the big bad hero gets his ass handed to him and the woman has to fix him.

I hate when men smirk and gloat and say shit like “Women are attracted to powerful men,” like that negates any feminist impulse, like they think that at the heart of all women is this little, mincing girl that wants to be dominated.

I just roll my eyes because, dude. If you ever read the second half of any fucking harlequin novel ever, and saw how the hero always ends up blubbering on his knees and saying shit like “I can’t live without you! You unman me!” you’d realize that being attracted to powerful men is just the first part of a two-step plan.

The second step is to completely fucking annihilate him.

It says some interesting things about the way fandom approaches different “types” of characters that Skye was so universally trashed as a “Mary Sue” that the show actually had to reference it… while Coulson’s entire arc from Avengers to this episode has been having the A-Listers of the Marvel Universe repeatedly tell him how awesome he is and how they all want to be his friend. Just sayin.

I'm just going to come out and say it: I think Phil Coulson is the most boring thing about AoS. I hated hiw he behaved towards May this season. If Coulson/May ever becomes a thing in this show, I'll bail.
