This explains a lot of the Su She support I saw in my "which character do you hate the least" poll. I support you, Su She fans.

CQL's treatment of Su She vs the novel fascinates me because Su She's introduction in the show is honestly as a very cute earnest good boy when they could have easily leaned on him being a petty jerk we're supposed to hate from the jump

It is!!! He is SO EAGER to help when he tells Xichen about the water ghosts! It's adorable. Him yeeting his sword into the Waterborne Abyss comes off less as hubris and more as being so so so determined to try his best and show he can be brave.

And the scene where Cloud Recesses is attacked!!! Augh! He's so upset about it! He's tearfully willing to follow Lan Qiren! It's only after his fellow outer disciples have died around him that he cracks and tells the Wen soldiers about the Cold Pond Cave sanctuary. Yeah, I'll allow that there's potentially some cultural dissonance at play here for me as a viewer, but I don't think the show wants us to agree with the Twin Jades' assessment of Su She as this heartless coward. Leaving aside the fact that we've seen for ourselves that nobody can get into the cave without a headband, the fact that Su She came to the cave at all is unusual, because it is stated that most of the outer disciples fled into the surrounding forest during the attack to save themselves. He could've just left! As with the Waterborne Abyss, at least he tried.

(Also, sidenote, but Su She should've been a Yunmeng Jiang disciple isntead. I can't imagine the open-to-the-public Jiang sect having a secret panic room reserved for inner disciples only, or expecting their other disciples to stay put and be cannon fodder Just Because. Relatedly, I also can't see any of their disciples choosing to make a break for it. And what is throwing your sword into a sentient maelstrom like a dumbass if not Attempting The Impossible(TM)?)

online communities are so strange because people slip away so easily. you can be on here for years, folding people you've never met into the fabric of your daily life, and then they disappear, leaving only ghost posts scattered across tumblr behind. or their blog stays dormant, for weeks, months, years, until you're only still following them because you remember that they love sunflowers or they were kind to you when they didn't have to be or the last thing they posted was sad and raw and you still worry about them sometimes.

and sometimes they come back when you least expect it, years later, even, and there's this sudden rush of relief like there you are, there you are, even though you barely knew each other.

there's a strange kind of love to it. i don't know you and i want to hold your hand across miles and time zones and oceans. i can still see the imprint of you in this community you left. you don't think anyone will notice or care when you're gone, but we notice and we care and we wish you well.

i hope you're all okay out there. i hope the sun is shining on your face and you are breathing deeply. i miss you.

I just got described as an "ad hating commie" by someone because I said a minute of youtube ads is unpleasant. fully spent 5 minutes arguing and defending youtube ads. insane stuff

I do approximately 1 part gatorade to 3 parts water for a drink that doesn't taste like water but isn't pure sugar. Also, those drink mix packets are great. I have a 32oz water bottle that I try to refill a couple times a day.

For a treat, you can put a bottle of gatorade in the freezer (3-4 hours for a 20oz bottle and 6-8 hours for a 32oz bottle) and shake it up when you take it out for a gatorade slushie! (doesn't work with the sugar-free gatorade)

Genuine friendly summer reminder for my fellow fat people.

We have more body than skinny people so we also contain more water and therefore need to drink more. 2 Litres is something skinny people need to drink we need more. I aim for 4 litres a day.

While any waterbased liquid is good try to not drink all 4 litres in coke or soda. I absolutley do recommend sport drinks or similar things. Fat people like us, or at least me, sweat a lot in this heat even without sport. Refill those electrolytes. Your body will thank you.

My go to drink at home is a 2 litre jug of water with just enough store bought raspberry or orange syrup that it has a taste thats not water.

Please stay hydrated in this heat and take care of your body. Its the only one you have.

hate when people think the only archetype possible for a male sidekick to a female protagonist is a soft boi and/or himbo. like the implication there is that the only reason a man would ever defer to a woman’s authority is if he was a bumbling idiot. love male supporting characters who are smart and strong and confident and can step up when necessary but still kind and humble enough to let someone else take the lead most of the time
