hey self, guess what? it's like two years later, but you're finally doing that ~20hr admin job, except at the other place, that is also now employing you to do it for 38 hours per week

7AM starts suck, but you're good at this

you're good enough that they trust you with store-wide rosters, and verifying pays on a daily basis. you're good enough that you still get to supervise - and not only that, but you supervise the supervisors (even if you don't get paid the same rate, and actually, you should insist on that as soon as you're confident enough to ask)

it's been an entire year, and you are good enough, and the bosses know that

reminder to self: apply for both those admin positions. i do have previous experience, if just on a relief basis, and the lady that specifically chose me from a pool of 20+ other employees as the person best able to perform her job in her absence is willing to act as a reference, so just go for it

kanto - bulbasaur/ivysaur/venusaur (I never played gen I; only the gen III remakes, so this is for leaf green)

johto - cyndaquil/quilava/typlhosion (chose totodile/croconaw/feraligatr in the gen IV remakes, with a much better understanding of game mechanics including the physical/special split)

hoenn - mudkip/marshtomp/swampert (mudfish baby!!)

sinnoh - piplup/prinplup/empoleon (platinum was my first/only sinnoh gen IV game)

unova - oshawott/dewott/samurott

unova take II - still oshawott/dewott/samurott (I guess I have a type?)

kalos - fennekin/braixen/delphox (cute! foxes!)

alola - popplio/brionne/primarina (water?! fairy?! seal?! baby!!! - possibly my favourite starter design ever)

galar - tbh did not love the starter designs in this gen; first and only gen I ever ditched my starter for an alternative (first pick was sobble/drizzile/inteleon)

hisui - it's on the list, will update when I start the game prper (if this game even has traditional starters? my understanding is that it is different to most main-series games?)

paldea - fuecoco/crocalor/skeledirge (idk crocodiles are awesome; I also have an abiding love for fire/ghost types - this typing has not yet let me down ever)

in conclusion: I generally default to water types unless a particular fire type design catches my eye; grass types usually need a helpful secondary typing for me to even consider them, no matter how cute their design might be

I rarely ever switch out the starter for an alternate of the same type, but galar is a rare exception due to the easy access to an amazing variety of pokemon before even the first gym by way of traversing the wild area prior to motostoke, and especially the presence of low-level raid pokemon (one playthrough literally saw me kickstart my party with a jangmo'o and a litwick before ever hitting the first gym)

the only personality test that really matters is which starter they picked for each pkmn gen the first time they played. anyways rb with each of your first-time starters

six days ago, my uncle died

at the beginning of december he had been diagnosed with brain cancer, and at that point he was advised that he likely had between eight-twelve months to live

about three weeks ago, he presented to hospital after deciding to desist taking medications for his various health issues, at which point he was basically told that he wouldn't be leaving now that he was admitted

last monday we were told that he was unlikely to last much more than another week

he died last thursday

he was going to be fifty five on 28/01

and I know he wasn't a very healthy man, but - he was only fifty four, and he wasn't so unhealthy that his lifestyle would have killed him inside of a year. but the cancer got into his brain, and by the end he was asleep more than he was awake, just trying to escape the ever-present pain in the only way left to him

he told his brother in one of his last lucid moments that he just wanted to die so it could stop hurting already

idk its just been a very sad and surreal few weeks

and I'm not okay

but I'm so glad we got to have Christmas, and New Years', with him

and it hurt so much but I wanted to be there, at the end, and I was

I hope there was still enough of him there to know we were with him, at the end

I hope he left us knowing that he was loved

Lawful Inquisition -enjoys fetch quests -takes time to craft new weapons and armour at regular intervals -talks to every companion between every single mission -looks up walkthroughs and quickloads whenever a companion disapproves

Neutral Inquisition -Inquisition was their first DA game -avoids fandom drama -just genuinely enjoys all the games -the most chill

Chaotic Inquisition -“HOLY SHIT YOU CAN JUMP” -spends 90% of their time falling off of roofs in skyhold -runs into dragon battles 20 levels too soon and gets destroyed -tries to glitch on purpose
