Dune faces Mortis Obitus; Death Itself (refs linked for both OCs).
The monologue is lifted from Conquest's speech in Invincible, with some words altered to better lift the context of the art.

OLD ART DUMP!
I found a bunch of old art I did for my old dino revenge story Regicide (the original version of Deicide)! All of this is from around 2017-2018.
A lot has changed from Regicide to Deicide (Regicide was much more grounded, featuring an all-velociraptor cast of characters and a tale of Dune, ex-alpha of his pack, seeking revenge against his sister who betrayed him and usurped his position. In contrast, Deicide features many species of dinosaur, and Dune is a 'wretched one' who seeks to end the Gods after losing everything at the hands of his adoptive sister, the God of light and the sun).
#Dune's current design doesn't feature those snoot crests anymore but they're a nostalgic part of his old one#though I stopped incorporating them later down the line because I forgot irl velociraptors didn't have such a thing (I thought they did???)#(at the time at least...)#art#my art#Dune#Deicide#dinosaur#dinosaurs#dinosaur art#velociraptor#raptor#dino oc

Have been dealing with both art block and writer's block, so I tried to break the former with some sketches of a certain silver soldier (+ my design for his dragon version).

I figured you might be interested in my 2 head canons on Sephiroth's parentage
Sephiroth has two moms ( jenovah and Lucrecia) and two dads ( Hojo and Vincent) and that's why he doesn't degrade, unlike Genesis and Angeal, who have a lopsided parentage.
Or
Jenovah is actually Sephiroth's Dad (genetically speaking)
I don't have much to add except cool headcanons! The first one is particularly interesting since it can also highlight Sephiroth's alien nature/genetics.

I see Jenova as a metaphorical mother to Sephiroth- in the sense of her role in his creation and what he is- because without Jenova, there is no Sephiroth.
An elaboration on this meme I made a few months ago.
Something I like to explore (as I have in my own fic), that I don't see many talk about, is that there is no Sephiroth without him being a product of experimentation.
To paraphrase a quote from my story, which illustrates my view quite concisely: his power, strength, intelligence, appearance, personality, even his name, would be completely different if his foetus was left untampered (and I'd argue he wouldn't exist in the first place). "The only way you can exist is as a scientific experiment".
Without the Jenova Project, he'd be the son of Lucrecia and Hojo, but he wouldn't be Sephiroth. And to add to that- there is no strict answer in the narrative, but my interpretation is that the only reason he was even concieved between the two scientists was for the sake of the project specifically, not that he already existed and they decided to test on him.
Some describe Jenova as a mere cell donor, but that's actually how I view Lucrecia. She birthed Sephiroth, and while he yearned for a loving mother his entire life, she was not present in it, and there's nothing fundamentally Lucrecia in Sephiroth's identity.
Jenova, on the other hand, inseperably makes him into himself. He has visibly alien features in his appearance. He has grown up feeling different from others. In part, you could argue this was from him being raised in labs, but I personally think the alien genes played a role too. Slit pupils and silver hair are unique traits to him, and they serve to highlight as subtle signs pointing to a non-human background. His strength is clearly enhanced, to the point that no one even comes close to him.
Jenova's effect on him, condemning him to a life of exploitation at human hands while feeling alienated and different is the direct consequence of her DNA, and people deciding to play God. Jenova is a mother not in the sense that she nurtured him in any way, but in the sense that her essense is a fundamental part of his existence and his creation.
If you remove Jenova from Sephiroth's DNA, literally everything changes, to the point that what remains (in my humble opinion) is no longer Sephiroth. If you remove Lucrecia and have her replaced by another woman, you still have something resembling Sephiroth. Hence- metaphorical and philosophical mother.
#had bad experiences before so... DNI if you're gonna be rude or freak out over a differing opinion or forget basic reading comprehension#this is my interpretation and I wish to express it... I'm not sure if there's an alternate site to post something like this#also I think the alien genes are why he is 2m+ tall... so he'd lose his height too heheh#Final Fantasy VII#Jenova#Sephiroth#essay

was thinking about this scene today, the first time we see Sephiroth express rage. he's found out that he's been deliberately lied to all his life - his mother has been kept from him, his mother isn't human, and neither is he. he was "the crowning glory of Professor Gast's wondrous experiment." humans did this to him. and now he knows for sure he isn't one of them.
I love the camera work of the next scene especially because this is the first time since he's entered the library that Sephiroth directly meets Cloud’s/Zack's eyes, and the camera switches from showing both of them to just Cloud’s/Zack's point of view. and through this, Sephiroth isn't just making eye contact with them but also with the viewer.

with the way the angle focuses on his eyes and then shows a closeup of one, it's not just to showcase his cold rage. his slit-pupiled eyes are the part of him that show most prominently that there is something inhuman about him. all his life he was lied to about this fact, but now he's forcing Cloud/Zack - and thereby all of us - to face the same "truth" that he was forced to face: that he isn't human, that he was never human, and that he can see now for the first time who his real enemies are - he's looking directly at them.
