my ex contacted me to tell me he got his degree. I think he thought I'd be happy for him.

I wonder, who was trapping him in a room to yell at him when he answered the door for pizza with a button in their shirt loose.

Who started a fight with him before his exams? Before his GRE? how many tests did he bomb because he was getting yelled at on his way into the exam.

How many men 10 years his senior coerced him into having sex with them because it's what "adults do". How many of them read his diary while he was in tears?

How many breaks would he have been homeless had it not been for his abusive boyfriend?

How many meals would he have missed for which he needed to establish a transactional relationship for?

How many nights did he get to sleep safely to be ready for class the next day without fear that his partner would go through his phone and wake him up to a yelling fight over texts with an ex?

How many study sessions did he spend with a man trying to "hang out"with him on zoom while he desperately tries to study, instigating arguments and demanding attention like air, even when it sucks the air out of him?

So no, I'm not impressed by his degree. What he did was not comparable to what I did. Not only did I get my bachelor's but I did it over odds he could never overcome. And no I don't care about his award for being a non traditional student. I was a nontraditional student when I went to college with only 2 suitcases and no where else besides my dorm to call home. And because I was 18 everyone assumed I had familial support when I had 0, which is a million percent less than he got at 40.

Ya'll, if your age ends in a teen, don't date that older guy whose interested in you regardless of how much money he's willing to spend on you. Whatever problems you have in your life will only be made worse by this dude.

I'm reaching that age where I wish church wasn't a fundamentally broken institution because a weekly social outting just to reflect on life with a group of people followed by a little brunch sounds absolutely fabulous

This resonates with the working class who are at retirement age and can't afford to retire who think "why should others get it when I won't" which shows how easily dismantling a system piece by piece is for the fascists even when it goes against the interests of the majority. Just render a system effectively useless and then everyone will denounce it as useless and wasteful.

i got a research paper accepted at an open access only journal and the university won't pay for the cost of publishing open access because my state government only offers support for mixed pay walled/open access journals which the more I think about this the more I'm like. If u want authors to publish open access then why only support them for hybrid journals??? I don't even care about my boss having to pay I'm just annoyed at the principle of it
