I fear I’m too much of a Queer Christian for me to believe in the lie that if someone doesn’t respect me then I shouldn’t fight for them.
Do you know how many Christians have spat on me?
Do you know how many Queer people have called me names?
Yet I will still argue that every person who spat on me and called me names still deserves food, water, a home, and safety. They deserve to live their lives with out fear. They deserve clothes on their back. They deserve a community. Simply cause they are human and Christ called me to love all his children. Even if Christ didn’t, if I chose not to help my enemies then the amount of people I would be willing to help would be very few.
I have seen this idea that if someone isn’t morally correct then they aren’t worthy of fighting for. They are. I’m not just fighting for my rights, but the rights of my neighbors. I fight because I want a better future for everyone, even if in this future I’m still spat at or yelled at.
I’ll continue to fight for them after that as well.

Wait a minute, I need everyone to go back to the beginning. I was 11 when Pope Francis took his seat and the first thing my dad (a Lutheran minister) explained to me was how radical it was that Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio had chosen Francis for his papal name. St Francis, whose two biggest concerns were Creation and the poor. Pope Francis turned his back on a long tradition of papal power— of Leos the Lions, of invoking powerful patriarchs like John Paul, of indomitable Rocks, like Peter. He embraced humility and pledged himself to service. Those of us who grew up under Pope Francis easily forget how radical is very name is.
I am not catholic, and it is not my place to predict what may happen next, but I hope that, someday sometime in the future, he will be remembered as Pope Francis the First.

Tumblr user, look at me. Your problems with organized religion are not solved by harassing random religious people on the internet.

It's kinda weird to think about that I'll never understand how cis people feel about their bodies changing and growing.
When I was younger and going through puberty, I felt this dread, like every second I could feel my body dying, warping more and more into an unfamiliar and damaging form. I literally couldn't focus in class bc I could feel each second passing and I knew that with each second I got further and further from safety.
Now, when I notice little changes they make my day. I'll see that I have a little bit more facial hair, or that the muscles in my back look slightly different, or I speak and I'm positively surprised by the voice that comes out. When I notice these things I feel this yellow heat in my chest that can radiate out for multiple days at a time.
My cis friends all seem emotionally neutral on puberty, like it's a bunch of changes that happened and they weren't good or bad, they didn't cause joy or distress, it's just a process we all go through. I don't think I'll ever be able to experience that neutrality, so it's cool to think about! I wonder what other experiences are common among the people around me that I'll never experience. We live in a beautiful world and we'll never have the time or the eyes to experience all of it. Wow

We are all called to be saints. That does not mean, however, that we are called to be depicted on stained-glass windows with a gold disc behind our heads, that is an honor given to a very few exceptional Christians. There are likely thousands of saints whose names are forgotten to anyone on earth, but they are still holy. When we strive for sainthood, we strive to live in God and with God, now and forever, whether our names are written into litanies is irrelevant, although we should ceaselessly pray for the intercession of the saints

yeah, it feels like the sun's never gonna come out again, and my country is descending into something orwellian faster than expected and it's snowing on the gulf for the first time in 21 years on the day someone is trying to take her name from her but alas, i have this cigarette to smoke and all these friends to love and these youth acolytes to teach how to light the altar candles. i have class in the morning and this little little life to live.
