Toes 2 22x31 pigment transfer

The printing process is as much an art as the creation of the images themselves. I start with a solid foundation of Mulberry Paper. Mulberry is a tough wood that resists rot and bugs, and the paper does not tear easily. The Mulberry tree has a significant meaning of the transforming power of faith. – “if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you can tell a mulberry tree to be uprooted and transplanted into the sea and it will obey you.” Luke 17:6. Also, Isaiah 40:20 The wise workman makes selection of the mulberry-tree of the offering, a wood which will not become soft; so that the image may be fixed to it and not be moved.” As I apply the multiple layers of medium to both sides of the paper, I am providing a way for the image on the transparency to uproot and transplant onto the paper. It’s like leaving the old self and moving to the new self on a stronger foundation. The act of doing this is ritualistic to me as each unique piece moves on from the old life to new life. I am moved by all the imperfections that carry over from the old to the new. The wrinkles/cracks in the paper that occur during the transfer process symbolize brokenness. These cracks add beauty and character to the finished work as true beauty comes through brokenness.

The making of "Leaves"

"Leaves" is a pigment transfer print onto Mulberry paper. Its a multi layered process of treating the Mulberry with hand made oyster shell pigment in multiple layers, then the image is printed on a transparency, then carefully transferred onto the Mulberry. Then I go a step further and hand embellish with gold ink. This is a beautiful one of a kind piece. If you are interested in the piece it is now up on my website! This is the making of my original art work called "Violet" Its a pigment print on Mulberry paper, them I embellished it with paint and gold inks. Purple and pink hues hydrangeas in the North Carolina mountains where they are found in abundance. These are my favorite flowers. Hydrangeas mean perseverance. “Hydrangeas” Amidst the garden, in hues of delight, Purple and pink hydrangeas take flight. Clusters of petals, like dreams they unfurl, In the world of blossoms, a vibrant swirl. Sweet and serene, they whisper of love, In the garden of dreams, they shine from above. Hydrangeas, a canvas of nature's art, In their colors and beauty, they touch the heart.

“Pilgrimage”

A girl on a journey through a watery space,

God guides with blue butterflies,  a heavenly embrace.

In this submerged wood, a mystical quest, 

She walks on faith, in nature's sacred nest.

With every flutter, her spirit takes flight, 

Through trials and challenges, into the light.

The forest's secret,  gentle flow, 

The Spirit's guidance, she comes to know.

In the depths of the woods, by the river's song, 

She finds her purpose, where she belongs.

So let the blue butterflies, with their divine art, 

Guide her through the forest, and into her heart.

In this un-seen world, her spirit takes flight, 

as she is led towards the eternal light.
