thinkin’ about what katsuki said here:

despite the fact that he thought about “sentimental shit” a lot during the final war, he isn’t being hypocritical when he says this to izuku. this is actually a huge example of how well katsuki knows izuku.

katsuki knows how (recklessly) selfless izuku is and how much of a bleeding heart he has. he also knows how irrational izuku can act when he’s “thinking that sentimental shit.”

katsuki’s words above aren’t coming from a place of mutual understanding. he stays surprisingly calm and regulated when thinking about that sentimental shit. here’s him facing off against history’s worst villain yet thinking about his past with izuku.

this isn’t “getting distracted by in battle will make you lose.” that’s just a general piece of advice. this is “i know that you tend to lose control of yourself when you’re emotional. try not to think about your trauma, or you’ll die.”

katsuki knows these things about izuku and gave him genuine advice that pertains specifically to him. through katsuki’s eyes? that’s love.

Izuku is training with Katsuki, trying to use blackwhip to capture Katsuki, while Katsuki is trying to get to Izuku.

Izuku is about to capture Katsuki, but that's when the memory of Katsuki getting impaled by Shigaraki/AFO suddenly comes into his mind.

The reason this memory hits Izuku is bc in a way, blackwhip looks like the quirk Shigaraki/AFO used to HURT Katsuki.

This causes Izuku to freeze up

Katsuki INSTANTLY notices something going on with Izuku.

Katsuki asks Izuku what is distracting him, while quickly closing in on him.

Because Izuku is no longer focusing, Katsuki is able to land an explosion on Izuku.

Katsuki tells Izuku that he needs to "cut that sentimental shit out" 💀 but here's why

Even though Katsuki said this, he doesn't have an aggressive tone while saying it. He then proceeds to tell Izuku that he won't be able to beat Shigaraki & AFO in the upcoming inevitable war if he is like this.

He's not meaning it in a mean way, though.

He's telling Izuku this bc he cares abt him. He doesn't want to see him hurt, just like how Izuku doesn't want to see HIM hurt. It's Katsuki's way of protecting him. His way of making sure he takes care of himself.

Is it just me or did blackwhip started to get unstable the closer Katsuki got to Izuku due to Izuku being traumatized?

Like look at blackwhip and notice the closer Katsuki got the more it starts to look like it’s more unstable and Izuku doesn’t have that much control

And it gets worse since I mean just look how close Katsuki got to Izuku almost near his hand/fist

Izuku worked hard and perfected blackwhip so it should be stable and easy for Izuku to handle especially since we see it. Look at these two shots and notice how straight and in line blackwhip is. The first shot being new and we get to see blackwhip come out of the glove like always and it’s straight. But even without the glove we see blackwhip in a straight line coming out of Izuku’s arm

Not only that but notice how the lines from blackwhip go from a thin line to a wider line the closer Katsuki got

If controlling his heart weighs in a big factor and Izuku was starting to panic his heart was slowly starting to become unstable and I wouldn’t be surprised if Izuku’s heart started to race and pick up speed causing blackwhip to slow start going haywire
