Grief is perhaps the last and final translation of love. This is the last act of loving someone. And you realize that it will never end. You get to do this to translate this last act of love for the rest of your life.

My vampires CAN walk into the sunlight but doing so would reveal what they would look like if they aged normally
Younger vampires don’t have much to worry about but older vamps have reason to avoid sunlight as they age. They are still immortal, but their aged, sunlit selves are significantly weaker than their non-sunlit forms. Vamps over 100 years old run the risk of crumpling over, fully immobile, but still conscious

Moodboard Layover: Day 2
made another moodboard for @writeblrsummerfest bc i was too busy to do anything else today but the prompt is!
"Give your MC the Pinterest closet of their dreams by making a killer moodboard showing off their sense of style."
so i made one for linh, who is a dragon disguised as a human living in 1970s Los Angeles (they are part of a murder mystery story im tossing around in my head right now)
they make a living as a writer and tend to be a bit of a recluse, but they never skimp out on style. since they are 100 years old, they have collected an immense amount of clothes. they don't really care if their clothes are sometimes outdated. if they still like themselves in the mirror it is enough.

i feel like so many people misunderstand redemption arcs. they’re not about forgiving past actions. they’re not about softening previous behavior. redemption arcs are about realizing past behavior was heinous and resolving to be better, do better. that’s why so many redemption arcs fall apart upon close scrutiny.

(since i follow from this account for a variety of online communities, here are other blogs i run to send you in the right direction--> fandom/side blog: @glass-creatchurs, art blog: @leektastical, inspo blog: @saturn-ibidem)
hi!! im liza and im making a return to writeblr! i was part of the community around the 2017 - 2021 era and lost some interest when i started college. im trying again because as a way to hold me accountable with my writing goals but also getting comfortable with posting my work :D
About Me
im a 22 year old student based in Michigan. im getting bachelors in astronomy, physics, and english and am planning to start a PhD next year
i love to experiment with different art forms. my main creative passions are in digital drawing and prose writing, but i like to dip my toes into comics, video games, photography, collage, and embroidery! (i occasionally post my art on @leektastical, but will post it here too)
im a big reader! i read a lot of litfic and also fantasy and scifi! my favorite authors include martha wells, kurt vonnegut, and eliza clark. im a slow reader but ill post about my reading when i can
i love art history so so much and i love hanging around art museums. some of my favorite artists are Caravaggio, Van Gogh, Hockney, Manet, Toulouse-Lautrec, and Bernini. i also love depictions of judith and holofernes and christian church art
i absolutely love horror, especially the weird bizarre stuff. big fan of fear and hunger, plastiboo, mouthwashing, the shining, nope, the X trilogy, lisa frankenstein, ultrakill, and doom
i also love travelling, playing video games, and designing websites :]
About My Work
i am a speculative horror writer first and foremost! i love to incorporate scifi and fantasy elements into horror fiction in order to gain a deeper meaning but also make-up weird shit >:). i have other wips that probably fall under the fantasy or scifi umbrella and some are definitely less horror focused than others. but horror elements slip in no matter what i write
i have a bajillion wips that i love that i will talk about nonstop. ill post links to them here when I introduce them
i also do a little fanfic! its something i do on the side but im proud of it nonetheless. you can check my stuff out on AO3! ill probably talk more about stuff on my side blog though, @glass-creatchurs
Things That I'm Obsessed With
These are the tropes, themes, and topics that keep popping up in my work and in my head. if you have any thoughts or insights on this, please send me an ask or a message!! i would love to chat :)
how tragic events/trauma influences the way we make art. im specifically interested art made after the world wars as people react to the rapid technological advancements that lead to mass death. i have recently recognized that this scope is quite narrow and am trying to read/interact with work that tackles similar topics outside of europe
forgiveness. how do we forgive someone who is wronged us? are we willing to forgive? can we forgive? how can we love someone who has done terrible things to us? can we stay in the lives of people who we can never forgive?
higher beings we can't comprehend. i don't know why, but almost every single one of my wips has this. i do like the idea that there are things that shape the world in ways we might never understand. and then succumbing to it. maybe its the physicist in me.
and also: angels, vampires, grief, dysfunctional families, curses and fate, body horror, mental illness recovery, redemption, and hope prevailing through the darkness
In Terms of Posting
my main goal for this iteration of this blog is to be free and loose. i will be posting when i have the time (school comes first after all) and what i would like. this will be a catalog of stuff im working on, with some reblogs sprinkled in
one of the things that took me away from writeblr back in the day is that i put too much pressure on myself to post and only post high quality content to fit with current trends, and honestly i don't want to do that to myself again.
so what can you expect here?
me talking about my characters and writing ideas. i want to make some long posts about worldbuilding and whatnot
sketches and art wips
possibly excerpts? we'll see
maybe some stuff im reading/watching
some long form nonfiction content when i get around to it
In Terms of Asks and Games
my askbox is always open and i am always open for ask games, challenges, tag games, and whatnot. please try to be respectful and kind ofc.
thank you for reading :)!

first moodboard prompt for @writeblrsummerfest!
the prompt: "Pick one color and use only that shade range to reflect your villain’s energy."
chose white for my favorite unrelenting mold infection that fused with its first victim that was the scientist that studied it :)

I'll probably be revamping a lot of this blog because a lot of my tastes have changed since I made it (back in 2020!)
One thing I won't change is the html layout. A big reason for that is last year I went and saw the painting I have featured on there (Raffael Sanzio, Saint Michael Vanquishing Satan) so it has become really special to me.
also some additional thoughts
i spent a lot of my teenage years taking writeblr super super seriously and it gave me a lot of anxiety on whether i was posting good stuff or not. now, i want to approach it as a place to yap and post stuff i am passionate about. so ill talk about my wips sure, but ill also talk about art, reading, and boost some of my fanfic too (ill keep that mostly on my side account @glass-creatchurs bc that the place I interact with fandom more)
anyways! writeblr intro coming soon :D

hi, im liza! i am a 22 year-old astronomy student who does a lot of creative work in my free time. in terms of writing, i like to write horror with fantasy and sci-fi elements (with the occasional fanfic ill toss around here and there)!
my main wip is Sanctola!
Basically centers on two teen siblings, Harmen and Amina, living in a world where people channel magic through jewelry. In the last several decades, there has been a darkness that is encroaching over the land, rotting nature and creating monsters that attack humans. One day, they are attacked in their hometown and one of them completely explodes a monster.
The government takes notice and since their mom went missing in the attack, they are forced to move in with their older brother Cierrovan in the large reinforced city of Monmesto. Cierrovan never knew about Harmen and Amina and thinks they are lying about being related to him, and they do not trust Cierrovan's intentions. The story centers around the three of them coming to terms with their family's troubled history, their worlds hardships, and finding love and community even when the world seems grim.
I've been kind of working on and off on it for a while and it's gone through multiple versions (ive been working on it since 8th grade :3) I am currently in the process of completely restructuring it.
I also have some loose change ideas that I am in the process of developing more including but not limited too:
A couple of small town mysteries
A story about a mold completely devouring a kingdom and its citizens
A world where angels are robots and you can make metal out of the blood of dead gods
A story about dragons living in 1970s LA
I'll probably be working on some fanfics this month, primarily cookie run fanfics. You can find my stuff on my AO3 :3
Introductions!
Take the time to tell us about who you are and what your wip is. Say hello to the community! Reblogs and comments are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED!

Jane Austen really said ‘I respect the “I can fix him” movement but that’s just not me. He’ll fix himself if knows what’s good for him’ and that’s why her works are still calling the shots today.

How to Make Your Characters Almost Cry
Tears are powerful, but do you know what's more impactful? The struggle to hold them back. This post is for all your hard-hearted stoic characters who'd never shed a tear before another, and aims to help you make them breakdown realistically.
The Physical Signs of Holding Back Tears
Heavy Eyelids, Heavy Heart Your character's eyelids feel weighted, as if the tears themselves are dragging them down. Their vision blurs—not quite enough to spill over, but enough to remind them of the dam threatening to break.
The Involuntary Sniffle They sniffle, not because their nose is running, but because their body is desperately trying to regulate itself, to suppress the wave of emotion threatening to take over.
Burning Eyes Their eyes sting from the effort of restraint, from the battle between pride and vulnerability. If they try too hard to hold back, the whites of their eyes start turning red, a telltale sign of the tears they've refused to let go.
The Trembling Lips Like a child struggling not to cry, their lips quiver. The shame of it fuels their determination to stay composed, leading them to clench their fists, grip their sleeves, or dig their nails into the nearest surface—anything to regain control.
The Fear of Blinking Closing their eyes means surrender. The second their lashes meet, the memories, the pain, the heartbreak will surge forward, and the tears will follow. So they force themselves to keep staring—at the floor, at a blank wall, at anything that won’t remind them of why they’re breaking.
The Coping Mechanisms: Pretending It’s Fine
A Steady Gaze & A Deep Breath To mask the turmoil, they focus on a neutral object, inhale slowly, and steel themselves. If they can get through this one breath, they can get through the next.
Turning Away to Swipe at Their Eyes When they do need to wipe their eyes, they do it quickly, casually, as if brushing off a speck of dust rather than wiping away the proof of their emotions.
Masking the Pain with a Different Emotion Anger, sarcasm, even laughter—any strong emotion can serve as a shield. A snappy response, a bitter chuckle, a sharp inhale—each is a carefully chosen defence against vulnerability.
Why This Matters
Letting your character fight their tears instead of immediately breaking down makes the scene hit harder. It shows their internal struggle, their resistance, and their need to stay composed even when they’re crumbling.
This is written based off of personal experience as someone who goes through this cycle a lot (emotional vulnerability who?) and some inspo from other books/articles
