It’s been a whirlwind the past few months. Many doors we thought were opening turned out to be closing in our faces. Patience has been tested and optimism comes and goes. Prayer is a constant. I find myself wondering if my prayer is heard. I find myself asking if I’m praying for things and God is saying “no” because he has something so much better in mind. I also find myself doing exactly what you aren’t supposed to do: “negotiating” with God. (The whole I promise to do this if that scenario…. Which isn’t helpful and not what God wants from us) So today as I was searching for a scripture verse, I am reminded of the fact that YES God hears, YES he’s listening, YES he has a plan for us. #micah7v7 #prayers #catholic #catholicmom https://www.instagram.com/p/CP39sBPBhid/?utm_medium=tumblr

Good Friday-the day the Lord showed his infinite love for us by dying on a cross. It is believed that between the hours of 12pm and 3pm Jesus was on the cross. During that time today we are having some “quiet” time. Meditating on God’s word and his Love. #goodfriday #sundayiscoming #godsolovedtheworld #john316 https://www.instagram.com/p/CNK86eYhnoR/?igshid=1f19g2wbs1pha

Today is the Annunciation of the Lord. It is the day when Gabriel came to Mary and announced she would give birth to the Son of God. #catholic #andthewordbecameflesh https://www.instagram.com/p/CM2IgHXBwd6/?igshid=bmg0rbrcr57e

Listening to today’s Gospel while realizing spring is here. Something about this time of year gives me hope and the anticipation of Easter celebrations brings joy. To be honest this winter my living liturgically took a sharp decline from my ideal to the reality. As usual life got complicated, family required attention, and well thought out plans didn’t come to fruition. However, my family has regularly attended Sunday Mass and I’ve made it to Holy Day of Obligation services so I’m going to give myself credit and pat my back. I’m hoping this renewed energy I received today while listening to the gospel will allow me to do better in celebrating more feast days with my children. #momlife #john316 #catholic #catholicmom https://www.instagram.com/p/CMa5rWcBN6w/?igshid=1j7s222qj9b2s

Today is the feast of the Holy Family. Our priest took the time to point out families come in all types: your family your born into, the friendships you form, the family you create with your spouse. But all of these families should be created in love and as Christians bringing us closer to God. That is what I’m reflecting on today as I am so very thankful for my family. #feastoftheholyfamily #christmas #4thdayofchristmas https://www.instagram.com/p/CJUJ5enhCJf/?igshid=1wymmvt0xnonf

I saw this verse on another Instagram account today and went to the Bible to see if that’s really what it says or if someone was summarizing. Sure enough there it was. I copied and pasted from the New American Revised Edition. Then as I was typing I got word that one of my prayers was literally just answered and it’s step 1 to the answer of my entire St Andrew Christmas Novena intention. I’m in tears of gratitude. #godanswersprayers #believeit #gratitude https://www.instagram.com/p/CJMOIwChYY-/?igshid=bi5vwehdtl26

I’ve tried hard to not let 2020 be a complete dumpster fire. But honestly this 4th quarter is sending me over the edge. I thought I was finding my way spiritually. And finding my way as a mother and growing as a spouse. I thought as I looked at 2020 I could find the good. But I’m not so sure I can focus on that anymore. Everything seems to hit too hard. I feel like I’m failing the test. And honestly I’m praying that these last 11 days of 2020 don’t drop any more bombs. #roughday #roughmonth #goaway2020 https://www.instagram.com/p/CJAPX01heFo/?igshid=ways9wf359hb

The Angels visited the Shepherds and their response was “then let us go to see.” This was our advent calendar reading last night and it got me thinking: could I just get up and go? Think about it Jesus asks the disciples time and time again to “come follow me.” He doesn’t say “well confirm with your family, finish that business, take care of your parents and then follow me. No, he says to drop everything and follow him. The reading last night was the first time I realized that that’s exactly what the Shepherds did as well. They went to find the Lord. In our every day life are we ready to drop everything and follow Jesus? Or are we so busy with the mundane that we put Jesus on the back burner? I know there are times I am guilty of this. I get caught up in the everyday and forget that each day is a gift from Him. So my prayer today is to slow down from the holiday hustle and intentionally put Jesus first. #trying #comefollowme #catholic #catholicmom #adventreflection https://www.instagram.com/p/CI0rnGFhR2g/?igshid=fr1shlxjk1dd

St. Nicholas day is the feast day of Nicholas of Myra with particular regard to his reputation as a bringer of gifts. Our shoes were filled with gold coins and extra large candy canes. #stnicholasday #advent #liturgicalliving https://www.instagram.com/p/CIdXyF-Bxbd/?igshid=koryeu126l4y

I’m pretty proud of ourselves and our attempt to live liturgically. We’ve been by our advent wreath every night. I personally have been doing the St. Andrew Novena. We “constructed” a nativity on St. Barbara’s feast day (she’s the patron saint of architects.) But I’m worried by tonight I’ll forget to remind the kids to put out their shoes. So if you’re like me I suggest setting a reminder in your phone. Set those shoes out! We are filling shoes with gold coins and a extra large candy cane. Simple and sweet. Tomorrow we will read a story about St. Nicholas. We also chose to do our Santa pictures on this day to reinforce the message. #advent #stnicholas https://www.instagram.com/p/CIbLyWLhn5O/?igshid=1le24j16oqhms

Today is the Feast Day for St. Andrew. I recently learned their is a novena that begins today until Christmas. You say this prayer 15x a day. I purchased from @chewslifeshop their St. Andrew Novena bracelet. The cross you see dangling moves down the bracelet as you say your prayers so you can keep track throughout the day of the number of times you’ve said the prayer. I’m sporting mine this holiday season and if you have the opportunity to pick one up, I highly encourage it. #liturgicalliving #standrewfeastday #novena https://www.instagram.com/p/CIOyTjyBJmL/?igshid=nrbczps4nr08
