I’ve found that growing up means being honest. About what I want. What I need. What I feel. Who I am.

A Hundred Days vs. Epiphany
I just saw SG-1 3.17 'A Hundred Days' for the first time and couldn't help comparing it to SGA 2.12 'Epiphany'.

In both episodes, Jack / John is trapped on a somewhat 'primitive' planet, basically forced to integrate with the local population for a few months. There’s also some form of romance subplot in both. To me, the overall situation feels very similar.

But boy, do they cope differently.
Jack, within 3 months:
Has mostly accepted that he's never being saved.
Gave up on digging up the gate.
Is fully integrated into the community, accepted and liked by all.
Is fine with throwing away all his clothes and other stuff from Earth?!?!
Thinks about starting a family with the new woman he's dating? It's kind of implied she might be pregnant when he leaves???
When he gets 'rescued,' she says, 'You must be very happy to be going home,' to which he replies, 'No, I’m not.'
John, within 6 months:
Actually says he’s depressed. Doesn’t shave (while some of the other men there clearly do, so it’s not a technology issue).
Wears his belt, sweat band, watch and any piece of clothing he still has from home every single day.
Keeps searching for a way out until the end.
Only half-heartedly tries to integrate (in Tao of Rodney, he basically says he didn’t learn much about meditation at all).
Doesn't even tell the people he lives with when he leaves the village. Teer says he was 'gone for over a day.'
Teer is his romance, though it's very one-sided. She keeps hitting on him, and he looks vaguely interested at best, and mostly like he can’t be bothered. (She's like 'life here is not entirely without its pleasures 😉😏' and he's like '🤷‍♂️')
On his last day there, she basically talks him into having sex with her by saying she had a vision about it. (Okay, this part might be a bit problematic...)
When rescued, he says 'What the HELL took you so long???'
Honestly, I don’t know what point I’m making here...
Maybe that Jack adapted to his new life ridiculously fast?
Or that John’s a dramatic potato who refused to adapt at all?
Either way, the contrast is funny to me.

I love the Christ Child. The Divine Babe. Just like, as an image. This is a baby, barely even 2 years old. Angelic warriors attend his birth. Pagan astrologers, the advisors to kings and emperors, journey miles and miles at great expense to worship this child. The King of the Babe's hometown, is so threatened by the birth of this infant, that he commits an infanticide. The divine babe must become an immigrant - a stranger in a strange land.
In the city of Rome, the capital of the World, there is a man, Caesar Augustus, who claims to be the son of a god. But he is about to be challenged. By a baby in a manger.
