Reveling in the Smokey Eyes Effect
After a summer of no eye makeup something has switched, maybe because we are in fall weather, I don't know. But what I do know is eye shadows are my thing right now. A little bit of shimmer, a lot of matte, a good eyeliner and I'm happy gal.
So with that I introduce Eye Week.. yea.. I know, it sounds awful. But here's to a week full of eye shadows!
Sidebar - After trying to take multiple pictures of these products I gave up, mine are just so used and battered that nothing can revive it.
First up is a duo I've been reaching for on the daily that is super easy and quick. MAC Pro Long Wear Paint Pot in Groundwork is a great base to start with, you can leave it on its own or as a first layer. Next I've been layering Lorac Pro's Taupe, this with Groundwork gives it that rich smokey effect.
This is where I usually leave it, but if you want a bit extra I usually add By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Brown Perfection. I only use this at the end of my lid, blend really well, to give it a bit of a deeper smokey effect.
Add tons of mascara and there you go. If you'd like to see what it actually looks like let me know in the comment section below and I'll put it together!

Day In The Life: Weekend Edition
Just wanted to share a small little day in the life from my weekend in the Hamptons. A few of these are spread out from over the weekend, from biking through vineyards, to lunch at a general store, to shopping around town. I tried to take a lot of pictures but really found myself just enjoying the weekend and not worrying about anything other than relaxing and being with my family.
Happy Weekend!

Garance Dore Social Stationary
Who doesn't love good stationary, am I right? On a recent trip to a nearby town I stumbled upon a cute little gift boutique that was stocked with the nicest stationary. Luckily I was in need of note cards so into the basket these went. These particular cards are 5x7 flat notes (similar to a postcard) and come in an assortment of 12 with the sketches you see on the front box, envelopes are included.
I usually try my best not to buy any stationary until I run out of what I have, I've been doing good so far- or at least until I come back to this particular boutique.
If you like this set you could find them on the Rifle Paper Co website (here).

Weekend Entertainment: Black Mass Trailer
You cannot tell me that Johnny Depp doesn't look badass in this trailer, not only does he look scary, but his acting is chilling. I am so happy to see Johnny Depp finally come out of the movie funk he has been in, Mortdecai, Dark Shadows and Lone Ranger to name a few. Yes he is in "costume" and makeup but this is a bit of a departure from his better known characters, which is a really good thing.
Here's what's going down in Black Mass:
In 1970s South Boston, FBI Agent John Connolly (Edgerton) persuades Irish mobster Jimmy Bulger (Depp) to collaborate with the FBI in order to eliminate their common enemy: the Italian mob. The drama tells the story of this unholy alliance, which spiraled out of control, allowing Whitey to evade law enforcement while consolidating his power and becoming one of the most ruthless and dangerous gangsters in Boston history. Written by Warner Bros. Pictures
This is the third trailer for the movie, which is set out to release next month, that was my least favorite. Trailers one and two were intriguing, suspenseful and well paced, whereas trailer three was slightly fast-paced for me. With that said I still liked the trailer and still plan to go see this star studded movie.
lack Mass makes it to theaters September 18, 2015.

Weekend Entertainment: Legend Trailer
Let me fill you in on a little something, I'm a pretty big Tom Hardy fan. Nooo, not because of his rugged good looks, okay maybe just a little, but mainly because he is a phenomenal actor. So when I saw this trailer pop-up on my youtube subscription list, I got all kinds of excited. Tom Hardy portrays London's most notorious gangsters, The Kray Twins, from the 1960s, a double performance that I'm sure he will knock out of the park. At its essence it is a crime thriller movie that follows the lives of Ronald and Reginald Kray as they take over London's gangster scene, however after seeing the trailer I slightly worry it could have a bit of a comical side to it, which I really hope is not the case. But on the flip side it could really tie-in nicely together, so here's hoping.
I thoroughly enjoyed the trailer and will be sure to be at the theatre opening weekend. Legend hits theaters with a double dose of Tom Hardy October 2, 2015

Weekend Entertainment: The Revenant Trailer
If this doesn't get Leonardo DiCaprio his Oscar, I don't know what will.
This trailer is the best I've seen thus far, bold statement, I know, but it is true. The cinematography was spectacular and the suspense, palpable. With Alejandro G. Inarritu, Director of Birdman, helming this massive film and actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy starring, it is sure to be nothing short of amazing. Here's the plot:
Inspired by true events, THE REVENANT is an immersive and visceral cinematic experience capturing one man’s epic adventure of survival and the extraordinary power of the human spirit. In an expedition of the uncharted American wilderness, legendary explorer Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team. In a quest to survive, Glass endures unimaginable grief as well as the betrayal of his confidant John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy). Guided by sheer will and the love of his family, Glass must navigate a vicious winter in a relentless pursuit to live and find redemption. THE REVENANT is directed and co-written by renowned filmmaker, Academy Award® winner Alejandro G. Iñárritu (Birdman, Babel). Written by 20th Century Fox
A few scenes I loved from the trailer:
The intense short scene with DiCaprio and Hardy.
When DiCaprio is attacked by a bear, it's insane.
And my two favorite scenes from DiCaprio: when he's dragging himself through the mud and when he's looking back from the horse he is riding, you see nothing but pure, raw acting skills.
The Revenant will be released December 25, 2015 in limited theaters and nationwide on January 8th.
