“Huh? What's this?” You hummed.
You lifted the small box placed on your desk into your hands. Chocolates? Were these homemade? You scanned the room around you suspiciously. Who could have possibly given this to you? There weren't any clues, and you didn't know of anyone who would give something like this to you. Most of your friends would've given it to you to your face—like Mina, for example, who made it a point to wake you up that morning excitedly shoving a box of store-bought chocolates in your face. The mysterious box sat unopened in your lap for the remainder of class. You could hardly focus on Mr. Aizawa's lecture. Mina caught up to you as you were making your way to your dorm, and she liked to have screamed in excitement once she saw the box in your hands.
“OMG! Who's it from?” she squealed.
You shrugged. “I dunno, doesn't say.” You cautiously opened it and popped a gumdrop-shaped chocolate into your mouth. You were caught off guard; it was the best chocolate you’d ever eaten in your life. It had a perfectly rich, sweet taste and a creamy consistency that left you craving more. “They’re amazing, though.”
“Ooooh, a secret admirer!” Mina tapped her chin in thought. “Hmm…who could it be…I know it's not Kaminari, and I don't think it's Kirishima or Sero either.”
“Great, that narrows it down almost none,” you complained.
“Hey! I’m going off of literally nothing here! It’s not exactly easy!”
“Eh, true I guess,” you shoved what would be your fifth chocolate into your mouth. “Ugh, I need more of these, they're so good!”
“What if it was M*neta?” Mina joked.
“Ew! Don't even say that!” you gagged.
Mina bursted out laughing. She kicked her legs up in the air, clutching her stomach. “Relax! It probably wasn't! Probably.”
“Shut up!” You threw a pillow at her full force.
“Okay, okay!”
You flopped down on your bed with your arms out to your sides and started up at the ceiling hopelessly. Someone had obviously put effort into those chocolates, and you wanted to at the very least thank them for it. In the following weeks, you and Mina continued to search for the culprit, but you had little luck. You eventually resorted to asking people if they knew who had done it, but they weren't of any help, no one knew anything—until you thought to ask Midoriya. He seemed to know a lot about other people, you were hoping he’d at least give you an idea as to who it could’ve been; and boy did he give you an idea alright.
“Sounds like something Kacchan would do,” Midoriya said casually, pausing momentarily to look up at you from his notes.
You practically choked on your words. “Wha—who—what?” You sputtered. “Him? You really think he would like me?”
Midoriya shrugged. “He does act weird around you now that I think about it, he gets really quiet and sorta nice around you—by his standards anyway—and I've noticed he stares at you a lot and goes out of his way to interact with you which is a bit odd because he seems like more of the type to try to avoid someone he had feelings for but then again I haven't seen him anywhere near you since then so he could've recently developed feelings for—”
You tuned out the rest of Midoriya’s rambling. He was right; you’d noticed Bakugo doing all of those things, but you’d ignored it all. You told yourself it was nothing—Bakugo was hard to understand, you just assumed he hated you slightly less than he did everyone else. But, Midoriya knew Bakugo more than anyone did. Even so, did he really like-like you? What if the chocolates weren't even a confession of love in the first place? What if you were just overreacting to the entire situation? No, no, they had to be. There was way too much effort put into them to not be. Great, now you just had even more questions, one of those questions being whether or not you liked Bakugo. He's attractive—that part’s not up for debate—but his personality? He's loud, angry, aggressive, fiery and explosive just like his quirk, and you were still about 70% he hated you, but…you did feel your heart flutter when you were near him from time to time, and you'd feel yourself tense up if you ever touched. You shook your head to clear your mind and thanked Midoriya (he didn't hear you at first ever his insistent rambling) before returning to your dorm to question your life choices and wonder ‘how did I get here?’
White Day was coming up—only a week away—meaning your time to decide what you were going to do was running out. What could you do? What did Bakugo even like besides blowing shit up and yelling? He liked spicy stuff, right? Maybe you could buy—no—make him spicy chocolate! But, how do you make spicy chocolate? How do you even make chocolate!? You shoved your face into your pillow to muffle the frustrated scream that escaped your mouth. You were already regretting this, and you hadn't even done anything yet. You spent almost the entire night researching how to make chocolate (YouTube tutorials) and spicy chocolate recipes (more YouTube tutorials). Hundreds of videos later, you decided you were ready. White Day was in two days, so you began to attempt to make the sweet/spicy treat you'd been planning. Mina helped, in fact she'd demanded to do so. The first batch was…not good. It turned out too bitter, and it wasn't spicy at all. Turns out Mina doesn't know how to read measurements correctly. The second batch was too spicy, still bitter, and the texture was a bit off somehow. The third and final batch was the best; the perfect combination of sweet and spicy, perfect texture and everything. You didn't think they held a torch to the ones you'd received, but they were still good nonetheless. You and Mina decorated them with piped colored chocolate, then the box with red and orange acrylic markers and an orange ribbon tied into a bow, courtesy of Mina. You'd give it to him after class, then…well, you didn't know what you were going to do afterwards, but that didn't matter. You’d probably just run away or something.
You sat in class, hands clasped tightly in your lap. You resisted the urge to look at Bakugo. You tried your best to ignore the worried thoughts that whirled around wildly in your head. You still couldn't shake the feeling that you could be wrong. What if you just embarrassed yourself? You sighed. You weren't turning back now. You didn't spend hours on chocolates just to throw it all away (the opportunity, not the chocolates, you'd just eat them if you backed out).
There he was. Sitting on one of the couches in the common room, scrolling mindlessly through his phone. He looked slightly less angry than usual, you were pretty sure that was just his resting face at this point. With shaking hands you walked over until you stood next to where he was sitting. You tapped his shoulder, earning an annoyed response in return.
“The hell do you—” his voice trailed off.
His eyes wandered down to the box in your hands that you held out for him to see. He didn't say anything else, just stared at you like you were crazy. A few of your classmates that were in the room paused what they were doing to watch you in silence. Mina and Hagakure both had to cover their mouths to not scream out in excitement. After seconds of him not replying or moving, you awkwardly shoved the box against his chest and practically ran out of the room. You curled up in your bed, where you’d lay for hours. You resisted the urge to cry like you'd die if you did so. You just made a fool out of yourself in front of your classmates, didn't you? Bakugo didn’t like you, you were an idiot to think that—
A knock on your door interrupted your thoughts. It was so loud that it startled you so bad you nearly jumped out of your skin. You rolled out of bed and padded over to the door. As you opened it, you were shocked to see Bakugo standing on the other side. His face was red, and his hair was somehow even more disheveled than usual. A proud looking Kirishima stood behind him, a wide sharp toothed grin plastered on his face. He nudged Bakugo's shoulder.
“Go on, bro! Tell ‘em!” Kirishima urged.
“I—tsk, this is stupid!” Bakugo grumbled.
“C'mon, man up Bakugo!”
“Shut the hell up! I'm not tellin’ them shit with you breathing down my neck!” He shoved Kirishima away harshly by the head.
“Okay! Jeez, I'll leave! Ow...” Kirishima winced and scurried off.
Bakugo turned back to you, saying nothing. You both just stared at each other for a while, the atmosphere so thick that it felt like you were suffocating.
“Um, hi?” You said uncertainly.
“Hey,” Bakugo huffed.
“Sooo…what did you want to tell me?”
“The…chocolates, they were, good, I guess,” he complimented, although it sounded sort of forced.
“Tell them the other thing!” Kirishima shouted from down the hallway.
“SHUT THE FUCK UP! I'M GETTING TO IT! I…” he mumbled something under his breath so quietly you couldn't hear him.
“What? Sorry I couldn't hear you,” You replied.
“I like you,” he repeated, this time it was just barely loud enough for you to make out.
Your grip on the door tightened. “Huh?”
“I SAID—”
“No, no, I heard I heard you, it's just—what…” You couldn't help but laugh. “I like you too!”
Bakugo's face turned an even deeper shade of red. “The fucks’s so funny?”
“Nothing! I just worried myself to death thinking you didn't like me back! I didn't know if it was even you who gave me those chocolates in the first place! Wait, that was you, right?”
“Yeah, dumbass.”
“I was so worried you thought I was a total weirdo or something!”
Bakugo rolled his eyes. “You are a total weirdo.”
“I—well, yeah, but—do you wanna like, go out, or something?”
Bakugo froze. He averted his gaze to the floor, hands in his pocket. “U-uhm. Yeah, sure, I guess.”
“Wanna do a picnic date? You don't seem like you'd be a big fancy romantic date kinda guy.”
“You like hiking?” Bakugo questioned.
“I guess, if that's what you wanna do?”
“Idiot, I asked if YOU liked it! I don't wanna do it if it's not something both of us will enjoy!”
“Okay! Picnic date it is then?”
“Yeah, whatever!” Bakugo spun on his heels and stormed off. You leaned out of the door to watch him. You spotted Kirishima—accompanied by Mina, Sero and Kaminari—peering around the corner. He gave you two thumbs up.
“WAIT! When!?” you shouted after Bakugo.
“Saturday, one-thirty!” Bakugo yelled back. He snarled at Kirishima and the others as he passed them. The group dispersed, giggling loudly.
You let out a deep breath and closed the door. You leaned against the cool material, and laughed in relief. All that worrying for nothing. Bakugo really was your secret admirer after all.

"I hate you, too."

×Enemies to lovers trope, arachnophobia warning, strong language, I don't know the difference between past and passed, not really proofread, kinda ass ngl×
×Reader's quirk is Acidrosis, it allows them to turn their sweat into acid×
This was bad. This wasn’t how things were supposed to go. You were just supposed to get them out, they said the villians weren't that much of a threat—you had to get the hell out of here.
⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘
You couldn't quite recall where things went wrong.
It all started with a simple rescue mission. A few civilians had been taken as hostages by some ragtag villains and were being held in some abandoned office building, and your job was to rescue them. Easy enough, right? Well, that's what you thought at first, until you found out who was aiding you in this mission: Katsuki Bakugo.
You could feel your expression drop as you laid eyes on him. You absolutely hated him. He was a cocky, egotistical, prideful—and the worst part was he had every right to be. Hell, he died and came back to save the world. What bothered you the most, though, was the fact that he was a total asshole. Ever since high-school he'd done nothing but antagonize you. Your quirks were somewhat similar, both having to do with your sweat, which was a fact he often used as ammunition. He loved pointing out the fact that his quirk was cooler than yours, was flashier than yours, it was overall superior to your silly little quirk. You didn't care if it was true or not, but it irked you nonetheless. And now here you were, standing face to face with the man you hated.
"Oh, it's you," you spat, voice dripping with hatred like the venom on a snake's fang.
"Freak face," Bakugo said gruffly, eyeing you up and down with disdain.
"You never were creative when it came to nicknames," you growled.
The voice of your boss sounded in your ear peice instructing you to get going. You sighed and surveyed your surroundings. The building was tall, dark and rundown. It looked like it could collapse at any moment. There wasn't any hints as to what floor the hostages were being held, which only made your job harder. You had to be stealthy to prevent them from harm—which seemed impossible with Bakugo here. He wasn't exactly known for being quiet.
"We stay together, keep a low profile. If they know we're here it could only put the civilians in more danger than they already are," you explained.
"Like I'd listen to you!" Bakugo scoffed. He trudged past you into the building.
"I—you—ugh!" You stormed inside after him.
It was so dark inside you couldn't see at first. You blinked for a few seconds until your eyes adjusted enough for you to be able to make out your surroundings. It was mostly empty, aside from a few abandoned desks and tattered swivel chairs. You held back a sneeze as you breathed in the dusty air. Your footsteps reverberated off of the walls as you ventured deeper into the building. Neither of you spoke to one another. He stayed further ahead of you, peeking carelessly into empty rooms as he walked past them. You stifled an annoyed groan at his antics. How could he be so confident in his capabilites that he would be so incautious? You ascended to the next floor, then the next, and the next, and still you found no one. Katsuki grew annoyed, noisily kicking doors open. You whisper-shouted at him to quiet down, but you were met with a quick "shut the hell up." You gave up on trying to team up with him, but still you stuck with him. You had a better chance at combat if you stayed together, if it came to that at least.
As you searched for the civillians, you stumbled upon a suspiciously illuminated room.
"Dynamight, come look at this," you called out. Bakugo turned and trudged over to where you stood, heavy boots hitting the floor with loud rhythmic thuds.
"The hell is that?" He huffed.
"I dunno, I can't see from here—" Bakugo strolled casually into the room like he owned the damn place. "Wha—be careful!" You sputtered.
"Shut up dammit! I can handle myself!" Bakugo snapped in response.
You hesitated before you cautiously followed behind him. A small lantern sat on a rickety old table, illuminating the room. Still no sign of the hostages, but you found something else interesting. It seemed they were running a weapon trafficing ring from this room. Guns, swords, and support items were littered everywhere. You spotted a paper on a counter with something written across it. Names, presumably of either the villains behind this or their clients.
"Man, they didn't even try to hide any of this," you mumbled.
"A bunch of fuckin' idiots," Bakugo snarled.
Just then, you heard a loud bang above you accompanied by an unintelligible shout. The both of you bolted up stairs in alarm. What was that? That if they hurt the hostages? What if you've already failed your mission? On the upper floor you found nothing initially. You snuck carefully up to a closed door. When you tried it, you found it was locked tight. You could hear rustling and low voices inside. You shoved your ear against the door to listen closely. You couldn't make out what they were saying, but you were certain this was where the villians where hiding. You alerted your boss on your ear peice that you had located the victims, then used your quirk to melt a hole in the door just large enough for you to stick your hand through to unlock it from the inside. You carefully pushed the door open and snuck inside, Bakugo close behind you, both ducked behind a knocked over table to prevent detection. You peered over, taking in the room before you carefully. There were three or four villians standing around the room. Three terrified civilians were in the center of the room with their hands chained behind their backs. Tape covered their mouths, muffling their whimpers and cries. One of the villians ruthlessly teased and taunted them, only upsetting them further. This was it; you had to chose your next actions carefully.
"Okay, I'll cause a distraction, and you can take care of the hostages," you whispered.
"Nah, I got a better plan," Bakugo smirked before backing out of the room. "Hey! Dickheads! Get the hell out here and fight me!" He demanded.
Three of the four villians ran out of the room, surprisingly not spotting you hidden behind the table. You took that as an opportunity to jump out and take out the remaining villian. He was subdued for the time being, knocked unconscious in the floor. You turned to the hostages, waiting no time in melting the chains that held them in place, careful as to not burn them in the process. You removed the tape from each of their mouths. You asked if they were able to run, and each of them nodded in confirmation. You stood up and motioned for them to follow you out of a different door on the other side of the room. It lead to a different part of the main hallway Bakugo fought the other villians. The explosions and hollering was evident enough of the struggle that was occurring. You didn't doubt that Bakugo could take on multiple people at once, but you suddenly got a bad feeling. It wasn't until his explosions ceased that your stomach twisted into knots. You desperately wanted to go check on him, but you couldn't just leave the civilians, that was your whole job. You made it down several flights of stairs. You had to be on the third or second floor by now. The sound of sudden explosions behind you alarmed you. There was Bakugo, speeding to catch up with you.
"What the hell happened there?" You shouted, motioning for the victims to speed up.
"Not enough time, go!" Bakugo screamed. You saw the panicked look in his eyes as he came up beside you. He peeked behind him. "Shit!"
You whipped your head around in confusion and were met with the sight of a giant spider rapidly approaching you. It had to be about the size of an elephant. "What the fuck!?"
You made it down one more flight of stairs before you felt something wrap tightly around your ankle. Caught of guard, you lost your balance and were sent face first into the step below, immediately losing consciousness. Right before you went out, you heard Bakugo screaming your name.
⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘
"Hey."
"Hey! Wake up!"
"WAKE UP DAMMIT!"
You were startled awake. You were met with darkness as you opened your eyes. Dark, cold and dark and wet. Those were the first words that came to your mind. You tried to move your arms, but found they were tightly bound behind your back, meanwhile your legs were bound together in front of you. Against your back you could feel a mysterious warmth. You craned your neck as far as you could to see what it was. Bakugo. He was chained up just as you were. Your hands weren't just bound together, they were bound to his. You squirmed against him, trying to wriggle free, to use your quirk to escape, anything to get away from him.
"It's no use," Bakugo said suddenly, his voice unusually low. "They're some sort of quirk canceling cuffs, you can't use your quirk to escape. I've tried."
"So what, I'm stuck to you?" You complained.
"Trust me, I don't like this either!"
You groaned at pain in your head. Your face was covered in dried blood. You must've hit your face on a concrete slab. "What happened? And what the hell was that thing?"
"That was one of those psycho's quirk," Bakugo explained. "It shot a web out and grabbed your leg. I tried to fight against it but it grabbed me too." He shuddered. "I can still feel its webs on me."
"Are the hostages—"
"I'm not sure," Bakugo answered before you could finish.
Silence fell over the two of you. You shivered at the freezing atmosphere of the room. You don't think you could use your quirk even without the cuffs. You found yourself subconsciously pressing yourself further against Bakugo's back for warmth. You felt so worthless, so weak in that moment. Maybe what Bakugo said in high-school was right. You weren't cut out for being a hero. You'd failed, and those civilians were probably dead because of your failure. You couldn't call for backup because your ear peice had been removed from your ear. You'd probably die here.
The door swung open, and stepped in one of the villians. It was the spider guy; this was made evident by his chelicerae present on his face. You pressed even further against Bakugo, this time in fear. You were completely at this villian's mercy. For a moment he said nothing, just stared creepily.
"The hell are you looking at?" Bakugo scoffed. "If you're gonna do something then do it you coward!"
Please shut up.
As if triggered by his words, the villian began to transform into the same grotesque creature that you had seen before. The sight of it made you sick. It took everything in you not to throw up at that moment. It began to shuffle forward, slowly closing in the gap between you and him. Seeing the rapid speed it had possessed before, you knew it was being slow on purpose. It wanted you to suffer the fear of what was to come, it wanted to make you wallow in the terror.
"Katsuki," you whimpered, squirming against the restraints. "If we die, I wanna say—"
"We're not gonna die, don't say that dumbass!" Bakugo cut you off.
"But if we do, I just wanna say—" The spider came closer, and closer. He was a few feet away. "—I don't hate you, in fact I've always thought you were super cool and you're really hot and I always secretly wanted to be friends with you!"
Closer, and closer, six feet away. Now Bakugo began to panic as well. He hesitated. "I—I'm in love with you!" He spat out.
"What!?"
"There! I said it!"
Four feet. Three feet. Two feet. One—
BAM!
The spider fell to the floor.
"I'm here!" Midoriya stood proudly before you, dressed in the high-tech suit Bakugo had made for him. You guessed Bakugo had managed to call for back up before you were brought here.
"Where the hell were you like five minutes ago!?" Bakugo shouted angrily.
"Sorry, got a little lost on the way here," Midoriya chuckled, nervously rubbing the back of his neck.
"Damn idiot! We almost died!" Bakugo hissed.
Midoriya padded over and inspected the cuffs holding your hands together. He pulled out a key and unlocked them. They fell to the floor with a loud clank. As soon as you were free, both you and Bakugo practically leaped away from each other.
"The hostages are okay, the other villians have been successfully apprehended," Midoriya explained.
"Good," you muttered.
You followed Bakugo outside. It felt nice to finally get a breath of fresh air. He avoided looking at you like he'd pass away if he did so. You noticed his face was a bright shade of pink. His confession echoed in your head. He was...what? No, no that couldn't be right. He must've misspoke. Yeah, yeah! That was the case! He misspoke, there's no way he could possibly be in love with you.
"Hey, uh, about what I said earlier," Bakugo awkwardly mumbled.
"What about it?" You hummed.
"I...uh...I..." seeing Bakugo speechless was a sight for sure. "Wanna like, go out, or something?"
Maybe he did mean it after all.
"Um," you thought for a moment. "Yeah, sure, I guess."
"The fuck you mean 'you guess'?" Bakugo was back to his normal loud self.
You couldn't hold back a laugh. "Yes, I'll go out with you!"
"Don't say it so loud!"
"You're the loud one! What, are you embarrassed that you asked me out?" You purposefully shouted the last part louder.
"Tsk, no!" Bakugo pouted and shoved his hands in his pockets. After a few seconds of silence, he spoke again, quietly this time. "Do you really think I'm hot?"
"Uh, yeah, duh! Isn't your mom like, a model or something? You definitely have her genes."
He rolled his eyes. "Shut up!"
"You're the one that asked!"
"I hate you," he huffed.
You smiled widely, leaning against the wall beside him. "I hate you too."
