the way some people write simon drives me off the walls. SO unrealistically and like i know some of you like that, but it completely takes away from his character and what he’s really like 😭

thinking about the times when i was younger and really didn’t want to go to school so i would fake sick, like flu or stomache or something and my mom would force me to go to the doctor and it turns out i was actually sick 😂 like bro, i had luck on my side when i was younger. i mean i have the weakest immune system of anyone i know, so freaking allergies knock me on my ass for days at a time.
OH OH ALSO that one time where in sixth grade i had an ear infection, then got strep throat, then got another ear infection, then got the flu, then got a double im ear infection, and then got FUCKING PNEUMONIA. i was out of school for literally almost two months cause i was just SO SICK. like, i’m pretty sure my parents were planning my funeral LMAO. anyways okay gn

sorry but like, ‘smelling his, musky, sweaty scent.’??? EW NO. i hate the smell of dirt and sweat, and after i’m done working out or working in general, i need a shower ASAPPP. like my fiancée wants to hug and kiss me whenever he gets home from work but like i’m sorry, no. not until after you shower and sanitize yourself from head to toe, I WILL NOT TOUCH YOU. gag inducing, truly.

listen, i wish i had a bigger platform to be able to preach about this - but elli is right. male identifying readers/writers cannot just take one writers work who uses fem identifying/pronouns and make it into male. that is considered plagiarism. if someone’s tags aren’t what you’re looking for, please just scroll past. scrolling past is SO much easier than jumping anonymously into a writers inbox and complaining about it, or even DMing about it.
i myself write MAINLY for fem identifying. i have written a couple fics where it’s gn!reader, but i’m much more comfortable writing fem!reader because i’m a female and know the female anatomy far better than male anatomy.
as someone who has been messaged about having no male!reader and that my tags were labeled “incorrectly” (hint: no they are not), it’s just got to stop. us writers get so much shit on the daily for even being in the fandom, let alone writing about it.
so with that being said, please don’t take another authors work and turn it into your own by changing the pronouns/anatomy of the original work. writers work hard, and spend hours of their life writing fics and and it can all be taken away from them by someone who is too fucking greedy and changes the format to make it fit THEIR views. even if you take INSPO (hint: inspo. inspiration. take an idea from one place and make it to your own in another.) give credit man, it really is not that hard.
we all have our safe spaces. the COD fandom in general is the umbrella community safe space, but being able to split into different groups within that umbrella makes it so that we are able to connect on a deeper level with more people who are like us. fem and male identifying both have their spaces, just like gn!reader being in the middle.
this also doesn’t just apply to the COD fandom, it applies to EVERY fandom.
i get that a lot of fics may identify as fem identifying or gn! but that doesn’t give you the right to steal an authors work.
targeting certain authors about it and making people uncomfortable is just not okay. it’s exhausting having to deal with this type of stuff in day to day life, but it’s fucking irritating to have to hop online and deal with it more.
i truly hope some of you can look back on this and reflect and take time to think and apologize. elli deserves a huge apology, as well as anyone else that has been targeted by stuff like this.
It feels fucking weird that you tagged that (for lack of a better word) callout post with cod x male reader when it's not related at all. You are someone who writes fem content exclusively (from what I can tell) and that post LOOKS like you're rubbing salt in a wound to someone who isn't blessed with thousands of fics catered to them. I just don't understand why you'd tag it as c male reader when that's the ONLY tag for MALE READERS. Leave us alone dude.
Also, I think you and your followers misunderstand what plagiarism is. As long as someone isn't posting works that aren't theirs, edited or otherwise, it's not plagiarism. Plagiarism is the act of taking someone's work and pretending that it is their own. From what I can tell of their post, there was nothing wrong with what they were doing, save for an offhanded joke in the tags.
I am a writer (m reader as you can tell), and I would never find myself fuming over someone editing one of my fics to make it fit to them a bit more and leaving it in their Google docs for their enjoyment. I write so people can hopefully see themself in fiction, where it isn't usually prominent.
Not trying to be a dick, just giving some perspective. hopefully.
this is a really long reply, so for the sake of it i will be putting it under a read more. anon, i would greatly suggest if you'd like to chat more with me then please dm me. it can seem daunting and if you don't want to it's fine. but i honestly believe that going on anon prevents clearer communication between us about this and only drags more people in with high emotions and tensions.
i am going to say now that in this reply i am not meaning to attack or criticize you for your response at all. i'm stating my thoughts and am open to discussion with you about them.
*please do speak negatively about this anon in my inbox or in the comments, and if you send anything to me that is not productive conversation about this then i will just delete/block. (tw: discourse)
first, off thank you for that input. i can sense a lot of frustration and i totally understand. i actually do think it's related since it's someone of this part of the community, yet i own up that my post feels out of place and accusatory. i apologize if it came off as hostile and attacking the larger group. that was not my intention at all. i wanted to spread awareness to the male writers/readers of the cod fandom to let you know that this isn't okay because there is a member of that community doing that to the fem aligned side of it.
i completely agree and acknowledge that there is a huge lack of inclusivity and content for male aligned cod fanfiction. i'm not criticizing all male identifying readers, i'm not criticizing all male identifying writers. what i am doing is criticizing the way that user in particular decided to go about it.
this user has harassed many fem writers because they didn't more clearly indicate pronouns at the top. they have harassed writers because they didn't want to write a request they sent in. they harass writers in general for the content they write and/or for blocking them by trying to go around the blocking feature. it's the way they decided to steal someone's work out of spite. i say out of spite because they have publicly demeaned a lot of fem writers for their content and "jump scares". their behavior and attitude has been very petty and negative towards fem!reader works in the past and they've made some malicious comments and posts about them. i can only assume that they are bringing this petty behavior towards editing someone's hard work, especially when they brag about it in general and public cod tags. they want people to know. that doesn't make it private anymore.
plagiarism is not only about public sharing but also involves the unauthorized use of someone else's intellectual property, even if it remains private. even if not illegal or "wrong", that sure does raise a lot of ethical concerns. it may not fit the traditional definition of plagiarism, but it's still being done without consent or respect to the writer. writers are very defensive about our pieces because we put a lot of hard work and thought into our craft and were confident enough to share it. it's fine if you're okay with having your work taken and edited, but many others, including myself, in the community are not.
which is why it's insulting to think that the fic "isn't good enough for me" so you personally have to go out of your way to change it. it's one thing to ask permission or (even better) to request the writer for inclusivity so there's a dedicated work for you. why do you feel the need to bypass communication and instead take their hard work for yourself? does this not further indicate that you only value writers for their content instead of interacting with them as the author?
i'm not sure if you would like a fem aligned reader to take your fic and completely change it to fit them for a more fem identity/anatomy. like you said it yourself, you write so people can see themselves in fiction. you wrote for a specific reader in mind. but when someone isn't able to apply themselves in your "reader", do you think it's okay for them to change it? is changing the content for a specific audience not violating, especially in an underrepresented community? especially when the reader knows they were not the target audience?
i'd also like to add that this user has also wanted to start writing in the community and asked me personally for some tips to get started. to know that works are being copy/pasted while the user is also writing can lead to a huge fiasco of whether or not they will draw from those fics and basically already have things written out because they already changed pronouns and anatomy. they already have a slew of falsified m!reader works at hand.
this is why i decided to add the male reader tags into that post. i believe so strongly in respecting the integrity of someone's work whether it was meant for me to read or not. i believe that there are others who will believe what this user has done is okay and will do it too and/or are currently also doing it. it's also the fact that this male aligned reader is doing this to fem aligned readers/writers in the cod community. this is not a good solution.
i want to communicate to other male aligned readers that this behavior is not okay. this user's behavior has made a lot of authors uncomfortable, even non-fem aligned readers and writers alike have reached out to me. i am not calling out the entire male aligned community, but it is wrong to assume that your fellow male aligned community shares your same sentiment.
again, if you wish to talk more about this i'm totally down to in dms. i don't think you're trying to be a dick, i can sense the high frustrations, and i acknowledge my reply can read as defensive and my original post as accusatory towards a larger group. not my intent to attack people but to criticize some behaviors and bring awareness.

Giggling about the idea of the 141 with an immortal reader. They'll never get used to seeing your body fall on the ground, dead eyes focusing on nothing for a few seconds until you get up, ranting about how you don't like getting shot in the head because it feels like getting brainfucked.
Just an absolute idiot ready to risk it all for them because at the end of the day, no matter how many bullets you take, you'll always come back.
It's the reassurance of seeing you get up from the ground after leaving cover to distract the enemy so your teammates aren't pinned down anymore and can escape, dragging you by the vest because no matter how much you can take, no one is left behind.
