got a comment (that i promptly deleted and blocked the commenter of thank you very much) on my post about cis gay men leaving absolutely vitriolic comments on trans men's bodies, calling sex with us 'conversion therapy' etc etc, saying "this is not exclusive to trans men actually, trans women experience this too so i don't know why you'd call this transandrophobia"

i shouldn't even need to explain to you why that comment is shit from a butt x1000. but in what world do trans women get called 'mutilated girls performing conversion therapy on cis gay men' by transphobic cis gay men? like yes. i know they face discrimination, fetishizing, degendering, etc. from cis gay men but this very specific experience of being stamped as a mentally ill mutilated girl trying to turn cis gay men straight simply does not apply to trans women. like im sorry. but what the fuck do you mean... those are two different flavors of bigotry within the same spice rack, sure, but they're not the same thing.

there's someone who was a popular hair and makeup content creator, and he has been really weird about trans men in the past. (im not gonna name him).

fast forward to now and he still does hair and makeup and shit but also nsfw content and every time i have to tell an oomf about the weird stuff he's said in regards to trans men's existence people are like "he's not transphobic, his best friend is a trans woman." .................

what i've noticed is that trans guys often get stamped with things like 'soft boy (or soft boi 🤢), twink, femboy' etc. no matter how we look or what we might be comfortable with. but when a trans man actually calls himself a twink or a femboy it's all "oh so you're fake then? you're a fake trans guy. you're actually just a girl cause why else would you wanna look like that?" like... 🧍‍♂️ we just can't win to yall, can we?

how come people constantly (and rightfully) point out that women (and thus anyone perceived as such) need to fit very specific and high beauty standards to be seen as 'proper' or 'worthy' women otherwise they get shunned, mistreated, and excluded. but they somehow can't make the fucking connection that when trans men triply quadruply quantuply don't want to abide by those fucking standards because they aren't women, they're clearly still shunned, othered, and treated awfully for that. because people who see women that way will not see trans men as men. like... did y'all even think for 2 seconds before you opened your mouth or what??? are y'all capable of thinking before you speak??? ever???

i have a flat chest because of top surgery, i have a deep voice (i almost always pass over the phone when people can't see me) because of testosterone, i have broad shoulders because honestly that's just my bone structure, i have a default-setting hourglass figure 💀 i also have long hair and love to wear makeup, 'girly' clothes (pink, frills, lace, etc.), and have mannerisms some people find feminine or "gayyy".

people misgender me all the time. few of which actually do it because they think i am a cis woman. most seem to just be very confused by me. which sometimes doesn't really matter, like at my previous job when a kid came up to me and went "uhhh ma'am... i mean sir. i mean ma'am. umm... where can i find (item)." (still love that interaction.)

some are just confused but not malicious, but more often i've noticed it's in a negative way. they can't quite place me and they really don't like that. not passing as a (cis) man does not automatically mean people think you are a (cis) woman. often they just think you're some kinda freak. often they get frustrated because they think they 'can always tell' but they clearly can't and they don't like that.

and if you think that is some kinda privilege then i don't know man... that's your problem.

I understand it’s difficult to be a parent but it’s time we start telling parents bluntly it’s not the internet responsibility to keep your child safe it’s your responsibility to keep your child safe on the internet
