Now, it’s been a while since I’ve seen Season 4. But I’m starting to have an idea why Karai wanted to improve the foot clan.

In City at War, Karai states that the foot clan was an honorable clan before Shredder took it over and corrupted it with his influence and hatred. Now, where have I heard that before. Something pure and innocent, being ruined and corrupted by Shredder. Karai sees the foot clan as a reflection of herself.

More than anything, Karai wants to improve and bring honor back to the foot clan. Because if the foot clan can have honor and be good despite its past with Shredder, then so can she. Both the foot and Karai were twisted into tools of revenge by Shredder. So if she can untwist the foot clan, then there’s a chance that she can untwist herself too. That she can stop being centered on revenge. That she can be free from this cycle of violence and hatred and anger.

Fixing the foot clan was not an act of revenge by Karai. It was an act of self love. If the foot clan can get a second chance, then so can she.

on the topic of a recent post, what do you think Splinter would have thought of the guys’ romantic relationships/partners? Karai is obviously weird as fuck feelfreetoskipit but what about Renet, Mona, and April (while it lasted)? I love the bits of character analysis you do and was wondering if you had any thoughts!

Ooo! Good question! Overall Splinter loves each of his children’s romantic partners and supports each relationship, but if I were to give more details...

((Hope you don’t mind, but I’m gonna incorporate a couple of my headcanons into these ;D ))

💛 April - Splinter loves April like a daughter, she definitely filled that void for him that he lost when he thought Miwa was gone. He respects her for her skills as a rising kunoichi and admires her determination to learn and improve both in her ninja training and also her better understanding her psychic powers. When Splinter first heard of April through Donnie and saw how his son was obviously falling in love, it reminded him a lot of when he was a young man and he first met his wife. He knows being in love is a beautiful thing, but he also knows you cannot force it. Hence why he teaches Donnie the “I’m going to teach you to like falling down” lesson. Splinter knows love is complicated especially for teenagers, and he does see that April is developing feelings for Donnie too over the years, but understands her situation and struggles, she's not ready to reciprocate. Splinter wants to see them get together and be happy but knows full well it’ll take time, a long time. Eventually Donnie and April confess to one another and officially date (by season 5) and Splinter is happy to see them overcome their difficult challenges, becoming stronger than ever and finally being together. He’s proud to see that one day April will be joining his family in more ways than one.

💙 Renet - Splinter wonders how Mikey and Renet manage to maintain a relationship like theirs with living in different time periods, but he’s confident in his son and his love that they will work through it. As for Renet, she’s definitely a unique individual whom Splinter has actually be friends with before his sons met her. I have a headcanon that Renet and Splinter met and became good friends long before the Turtles knew her, you can check that headcanon out HERE. Splinter thinks Renet is a very sweet, adventurous and kind hearted much girl like his son, Michelangelo. Splinter hopes that their relationship will last, and if it doesn’t then he hopes that they continue to remain good friends and he and Renet can continue on with their monthly tea time chats. As a future daughter-in-law or just a dear friend, Splinter enjoys spending time with Renet.

🩷 Mona Lisa - Splinter has heard many stories from Raph about Mona Lisa and their adventures together during their space travels. On a hypothetical if Splinter did get a chance to met Mona, he’d adore her to no end. She is the first girlfriend of any of his children, so he puts a ton of focus on her making her feel welcome when she starts living on Earth and treating her as apart of the family, telling Raph “you got a good one, don’t let her go!”. Splinter respects her as a fighter, thinks she's well mannered but also strong minded, and he loves how happy she makes his son after years of seeing Raph be closed off and scared to show his emotions. Raph and Mona’s relationship reminds Splinter so much of his relationship with Tang Shen, it’s like looking into a mirror, seeing himself and his late wife in Raph and Mona. Mona Lisa has had Splinter’s approval long before ever meeting him, and to Splinter she is the perfect match for his son, and he constantly introduces her to other people saying “this is my future daughter-in-law, Mona Lisa" which Raph has to remind his dad “we’re not even engaged!!” then Splinter will smirk at his son and say “…yet”. Splinter is already secretly planning their wedding (with Sal's help) and expects them to give him grandbabies.

💜 Shinigami - (surprise! Shinirai bonus cause they’re dating in my canon lol) Splinter didn’t know what to think of Shinigami in the beginning, not that he disliked her, but he just thought she was odd and was unsure of her origins and where exactly she came from. Unknown to him she's the daughter of an old friend from his past (more details on that headcanon you can check out HERE) Shini is a walking mystery, but Splinter quickly takes notice of how devoted she is to his daughter, supports her, and how much Shini cares about her safety and vice versa. It becomes obvious that his daughter's long time friend is more than just a friend. He supports and loves his daughter and her partner/future spouse, and knows that Shini will look after and keep Karai safe when he moves onto the next life.

I have a question: Would you rather be in a world where Raphael x Mona Lisa doesn't exist or be in a world where Michaelangelo x Renet doesn't exist?

Can I live without Mikey x Renet, as much as I do love their ship (they are in my Top 5 fav TMNT 2012 ships) and think they are cute together, but I’m okay with their ship not existing.

Mikey has a ton other ships I can enjoy like Mikey x Kala from the 87 series <3

What do you think the dynamic would be like if RaMona and VegeBul met? How keen would Raph be on sparring with Vegeta? Xd

If Raphael sparred with Vegeta he would be DEAD. It be better for Raph if he just asked if Vegeta would train him, which Vegeta would deny because it’s not something he does often and thinks Raph would be a waste of his time. I think it would be Bulma who tells Vegeta to give the kid a chance and teach him something, which then Vegeta reluctantly agrees. Raph gets a couple of bruises and maybe a broken rib or two, but it was totally worth it! Vegeta starts to respect Raph a bit after that because the turtle is still standing and not giving up, he’s got Saiyan spirit.

Mona Lisa and Vegeta both come from battle obsessed alien planets so they’d definitely have something to talk about. Also the visual of Mona standing at 6ft towering over Vegeta who’s 5’4”

Bulma and Mona would maybe chat about their short kings and Bulma would show off her inventions to Mona, and Mona would show Bulma her Salamandrian weapons and gadgets.

Greeting 👋! I've imagine Mona Lisa at Muteanimals home ,sitting in the lair reading magazing and unknown to her, Raph already sneak into Mighty Muteanimals with a huge bouquet of red flowers hiding in her bedroom, and once she finished reading , she went to her bedroom that Muteanimals offered to her, and once she opened the door her eyes widened from what she saw ,she find Raph sitting on the vanity chair with a bouquet of flowers in his hands smiling at her and the room was lighting with burning candles and he will tell her " happy three year anniversary " and then she tears up and ran up to him hugging him .

what do you think about this idea? I think it is cute 🥰. And can you please give me another Mona reaction in your opinion?

In the hypothetical case either Raph or Mona weren't capable of having kids, would've they been as keen with the children amount by being foster/adoptive parents of orphan mutant children? As in, would've they had as many adoptive kids if they couldn't birth them?

Oh hell yeah. I always headcanon that Raph deep down always wanted to have a family of his own, so if he and Mona couldn't have bio kids, then adopting would be their immediate go-to next option.

I've seen a few artists on here sharing their own headcanon 2012 future AUs where Raph and Mona adopt Mira (the mutant meerkat girl from the Mutant Apocpalye arc) as their daughter and I'm so down for that idea!

On one end, it's genetics so sometimes a kid will look more like one parent than the other, but on the other hand: Toriyama couldn't give Bulla SOME of her daddy's genes?? I've seen people make edits of Bulla at least having a widow's peak like Vegeta and I would've been okay if it was just that detail!

As for her name (both english and japanese), yeah I'm not crazy about either of them. I prefer calling her Bulla more than Bra (or Bura as apparently it's spell in the Japanese) for obvious reasons. Like, I'm not crazy about the name Bulla either but at the same time, Goku's kids are named Gohan and Goten, so they're also in the "my name sounds similar to another family member" club just like Bulla XD

I still so badly wish that they gave her a Saiyan name like Eschalot that Vegeta suggested. I think it would've been so sweet and a way to connect to her Saiyan heritage. If I could change anything about Bulla, I'd change her name to Eschalot, give her her daddy's widows peak and maybe also have her have black eyes instead of blue just to show a little bit more saiyan in her cause that widows peak can be easily hidden once she starts having bangs (and that is my HC as to why she had bangs in GT btw LOL)

Side note: the amount of people who don't know that Bulla and Bra are the same person is kind of hilarious (no joke, I've seen people on Tiktok talk about Bulla and be like "who's this fake character named Bulla?? I thought her name was Bra?" and vice versa).

cmon, don't you think it's very weird for a girl to have a name after a bra? "ohhh oueehh, but what about Bulma and Trunks?? you have no problem with it wehhehe?"

Those two are lucky to easily get away with other words that sounds similar to their names. tbh, I don't care if you wanna call me a hypocrite for this.

Another reason i don't like the name Bulla cus it sounds way too similar to Bulma. i know some people find it sweet a mother named her daughter quite similar to her but... that's the problem. it leads to misunderstandings if you get careless when making fiction works about them. an example that I saw was reading a Vegebul fanfic and I got spooked that Bulma was misspelt to Bulla. and that happened when Vegeta was making out with his wife. do you see why I'm scared about that?

also, I even witnessed some fans legit didn't know Vegeta has a daughter and thought Bulla was a mispell to Bulma. it doesn't even help Bulla look too much like her mom.

One little detail I really love in the first episode of the 2012 series is this quick shot of Leonardo, Raphael and Donatello eating dinner. If the training sequence in the beginning wasn’t enough to establish their individual personalities, I feel this quick shot also shows it, solely based on how they are using their chopsticks:

Leo is using them in the proper manner much like his father. He’s also being very delicate with his food, slowly chewing, his back is straight, and overall just being a good boy at the dinner table.

Raph is just using his chopsticks to stab his meal. Notice how he’s the only one not properly holding them compared to his brothers. They are gripped tightly in his hands. He’s also hunched over on the table, even though he’s eating he looks aggressive.

Donnie is also holding the chopsticks properly like Leo, but he’s struggling to eat with them. While Leo effortlessly picks up his food with the chopsticks and place it in his mouth, Donnie picks it up, lift it high above his head and it immediately falls down on his lap.
