ever feel like you have nothing to do with your life?
if you answered yes, to this question, then dont worry, theres nothing wrong with that!
if you answered no to this question, then you better find smth to do. i'll help you get started.
since its summer, the days have been passing by, and i have nothing to do other than read. i mean, if you dont count doom scrolling on tik tok for hours.
but choosing to read, is the exact reason to opt away from doomscrolling on tik tok; as addicting tik tok is, its best to let go of the phone, and pick up a more traditional means of entertainment.
and whatever may that be? ...
reading, obviii.

if youre like me, a teenage girl stressed abt so many things going on in her life, one of the best things you can do to escape ur reality is to pick up a good book. i like ones with a romantasy (romance and fantasy) genre to it. for example, take the cruel prince. theres a tad bit of romance in the 1st book, but once you delve further into the series, you want to find out what happens to the mc, and her love interest, or the mc's sister, or the mc's father. although being a highly fantasy political book, elements of those intricately crafted political fantasy systems made me want to read more, the characters fascinated me, and obviously, i wanted to read abt the relationship btwn the mc and her love interest, duhh.
what i love abt these books with a fantasy and romance subplot is that these books really immerse me in that world of which i could never experience. every book i pick up, i hope it to be a page turner, delving into the worlds of magic, fae, academia, curses, and other fantastical elements that make up a wonderful book.
let me tell you, ive read 3 books so far during june. maybe thats a lot, maybe thats not. but i truly loved reading ever single one of them. i felt connected to the characters, to the story, even to the plot! if ur struggling to find the perfect fantasy book with romance in it, ive got you. let me present the ratings and reviews of the 3 books ive read during this month of june:
A Study in Drowning by Ava Reid: first of, a beautiful cover design, i must say. when i first started reading this, i was confused as to whats going on, asking myself, "so who's this author character again, and why is he so important?" it took me a few hours to get into reading the book at a steady pace, but by the first 60 pages, i was hooked. to spare how long my first post is going to be, i wont include summaries (maybe in a future post? idkk) but i will say the character development of Effy was admirable, you meet her as a timid young college student, yet by the end, she becomes a strong woman with the power to defeat the being possessing her nightmares. i would go into further detail, but then this post would be too long, so ill end this off with my rating. 4/5 stars.
Dreams Lie Beneath by Rebecca Ross: Yall must know miss Ross from Divine Rivals, but do you know her from Dreams Lie Beneath? Dreams Lie Beneath is simply, a beautiful book about magic, every page makes you wanna find out more what happens to Clem, every single character is so complex, yet intriguing. 5/5 stars
The Stolen Heir: honestly, my fault for DNFing this book far too many times to the point where I couldnt remember anything in regards to the books that followed before this. The Stolen Heir is, OK. ig. characters are OK, plot is confusing-ish, world building tho, is immaculate. when it comes to Holly Black and world building, other authors dont stand a chance! i was a little bit overwhemled with all these characters names, and places, and significant objects names being thrown around, so if you have not read The Folk of Air books (mainly The Cruel Prince, The Wicked King, and the Queen of Nothing) then you will get very lost and confused as to whos whos and whats going on, and what were the events that took place before even The Cruel Prince was written. 3.5/5 stars.
