the reason why nyaa chan is considered a new character is the same as the AI bots: they were never in osokun and were created for the reboot so while yeah shes been there since hs she just wasnt there when totoko/the sextuplets were like?? 8??? idk lmao but yeah i think that's the reason why
Yeah that may be it. I feel I remember reading somewhere that the first movie (and technically all of them) are more like stand alone things that aren't 100% canon and should be seen as like spin off specials, so maybe they're also retconning the fact that Nyaa went to hs with them?? It's also an entirely different director from the first movie so maybe he just forgot lol
eh at least we're getting Nyaa-chan screen time so whatevs
