Late night ramble
Why do we even chase after love?
Like, I get that the idea of sharing your life with someone sounds fantastic and beautiful and it really can be if I look at some couples I know.
But.
There are so many people out there who only want your body
Not your heart.
'Plenty of fish in the sea'
But few who mean honest business.
'Your time will come.'
When? Once my pearly white bones are six feet under?
'you just gotta stop chasing. Love comes when you least expect it.'
What if I no longer expect it to come for me?
The older I get. The less I think of romantic love and more about love between friends and family.
The more disappointments in my dating life (which has only begun seven months ago, thank you very much), the more I am repulsed by it.
And the more a life in a cosy, peaceful apartment or house of my own starts appealing to me.
Maybe it's just me, maybe it's because I'm sleepy ... But like 🤷🏻

Will be posted on AO3 too but this is what I have right now. Lmk what u think.
Wilhelm was completely wrapped in his own head as he stood at the altar. The whole cathedral in anticipation of princess Eugenia, his lovely bride to be.
A prince shouldn't feel so miserable on his wedding day.
He sighed as he heard the future queen of Sweden arguing with a bridesmaid, while the pastel clad guests shifted uneasily on their chairs.
There she was. Looking like a huge dot of whipped cream in that big wedding dress of hers.
His mother had matched them, of course. After Simon left, Wilhelm had stopped caring. He'd become the perfect little puppet prince his mother wanted him to become, and this marriage was the cherry on top of that.
A loud march played through the church, and Wilhelm tried to smile politely and look excited.
They exchanged fond looks, all for the pictures.
The ceremony started, and Wilhelm zoned out.
"Speak now or forever hold your peace..." The officiant said. And that's when someone rose, a tinny recording of an accoustic guitar started playing. The person was shaking but sweetly started to sing, pulling all attention to them.
"I am not the kind of girl
Who should be rudely barging in on a white veil occasion
But you are not the kind of boy
Who should be marrying the wrong girl."
Wilhelm would recognise that singing voice everywhere.
His eyes teared up as he saw Simon right there in the aisle.
"I sneak in and see your friends
And her snotty little family all dressed in pastel"
Horrified gasps from the guests as this dusty, beaten looking young man dared to criticise their appearance.
Dear god, Simon looked like he'd been through the ringer.
Wilhelm held up a hand to stop the guards who wanted to charge at the young man.
"And she is yelling at a bridesmaid
Somewhere back inside a room
Wearing a gown shaped like a pastry" Simon continued with twinkling eyes, which made Wilhelm chuckle and Eugenia look scandalised.
"This is surely not what you thought it would be
I lose myself in a daydream
Where I stand and say
Don't say yes, run away now
I'll meet you when you're out of the church at the back door
Don't wait, or say a single vow
You need to hear me out
And they said speak now."
Wilhelm's heart was pounding. Simon basically asked him to run away with him through the song. His hands already slipped out from between his brides'.
Simon. Simon was here. His mother had told him he'd left him. That he had gone back to Venezuela.
Wilhelm saw the raw skin around the others wrists and realised he'd never left. His mother had lied. She'd made Simon dissapear.
"Fond gestures are exchanged
And the organ starts to play
A song that sounds like a death march
And I am hiding in the curtains
It seems that I was uninvited by your lovely bride to be.
She floats down the aisle like a pageant queen
But I know you wish it was me,
You wish it was me
Don't you?"
Simon gives him a small, hopeful smile, and Wilhelm gives the barest of nods. Throat tight as he starts to walk down the steps of the altar.
"Don't say yes, run away now
I'll meet you when you're out of the church at the back door
Don't wait, or say a single vow
You need to hear me out
And they said speak now."
"Why, the audacity, I've never knew something so shameless." He hears his mother bristle. "Guards !"
He doesn't care, Simon came back for him, is asking him to elope.
Wilhelm'd be a fool to lose him again.
"Don't say yes, run away now
I'll meet you when you're out of the church at the back door
Don't wait, or say a single vow
Your time is running out
And they said speak now
Ooh, la la
Ooh, ooh."
His mother is in front of him now, yelling at him. But Wilhelm only tries to look at Simon from over her shoulder. The man is fleeing in between the guests to evade soldiers now chasing him.
"I hear the preacher say speak now or forever hold your peace
There's the silence, there's my last chance
I stand up with shaky hands, all eyes on me.
Horrified looks from everyone in the room
But I'm only looking at you."
Simon comes from the side, and their eyes meet again as he comes closer. As he seems to become Wilhelm's sole focus.
"I am not the kind of girl
Who should be rudely barging in on a white veil occasion
But you are not the kind of boy
Who should be marrying the wrong girl."
To that Wilhelm shakes his head with a smile. Simon links their fingers.
"So don't say yes, run away now
I'll meet you when you're out of the church at the back door
Don't wait, or say a single vow
You need to hear me out
And they said speak now"
A brief squeeze at his hand.
"And you'll say..."
Wilhelm squeezes back, lets Simon go before the guards catch him. Then he answers , his voice carrying through the cathedral to Simon:
"let's run away now
I'll meet you when I'm out of my tux at the back door
Baby, I didn't say my vows
So glad you were around
When they said speak now."
Okay hear me out.
Option 1.
Wille is being forced to marry after being told Simon doesn't want him anymore, until Simon escapes the cell Kristina held him in and appears in the church to object
Option 2.
Simon is getting married, but Wilhelm never got over him. In a desperate last try to make Simon see how much he loves and needs him, he objects at the wedding.
Anyone want to discuss this with me?
