I tried going to reddit for fanfiction recommendations and... are they trying to recommend me the straightest, most vanilla fanfiction they can?

Like, the most promising rec I got was for a Boy Meets World fic. I got the very generic suggestion "read fanfiction about Catra/Adora from She-Ra". I got a rec for a Steve/Peggy MCU fanfic, but it's canon-compliant and post-endgame (context: I think that abandoning the rest of the Avengers (including Bucky) for a woman he hasn't seen in what has now been YEARS was the dumbest decision of his life- and that's saying something because he went up against, like, three guys while he still had asthma.)

I started to get a little excited when someone mentioned they were writing some of my favorite tropes in the Transformers fandom- but they didn't link or mention any of their fanfiction???

TWO people linked fics from fanfiction dot net. TWO. I can't even stand to look at fanfiction dot net anymore because I used to write on fanfiction dot net and I will be the first to tell you that it was the shittiest stuff I'd ever written.

One of the funniest things about transferring from the Outer Fandom of FNaF to the Trans People on Tumblr Fandom of FNaF is how different the two are, and how much more comfortable I instantly was on Tumblr.

Back in the Outer Fandom (read: twitter) where I was basically terrified to have headcannons, didn't want to interact with fanartists, and couldn't read fanfics out of fear, I actually hated most other fans, because they made me feel like a bad person, or a faker for not having the exact same timeline theory. And most of them were, like, 12.

But as soon as I started talking about FNaF on tumblr, I found a niche, and it fit really well. Suddenly, I'm posting theories, I've got a 12-volume fanfic series going, and I'm making fanimations. People are asking me which characters I think are trans/gnc, and supporting my non-canon additions, and aren't trying to cancel me for acknowledging that Springbonnie doesn't use gendered pronouns. Nobody is making fun of me for reclaiming the franchise, and doing whatever I want.

TL;DR: You can like and fit into basically any fandom if you find your people in it.

I literally don't care about fnaf canon anymore. There is no canon. There is no perfect timeline, no master doc of every secret, no way to make sense of any of it. I'm dumping half of this mess and adding whatever I want and no one can stop me.

I honestly kinda love the aroace flag. It makes me think of the shining sun, blue ocean, and white sand. It's like, "Surf's up, everybody! We're not here to check out babes, we're just here to catch some WAVES"

And you know, I can respect that
