I think that the Murderbot TV show should have some of the most obvious ADR possible. You can read Mensah’s lips saying something else while a very clearly dubbed in recording of her saying ‘the company’ is played instead of what she is actually saying. Make it clear that Murderbot is editing the record
#murderbot#I imagine murderbot is the kind of person to allways pick up on ADR in its shows#so fake ADR would be on theme

my favorite thing is when murderbot has too many things going on and replies to a question with a canned buffer phrase. its so funny to me. you stressed out this poor robot so much it had no choice but to go into customer service mode.
#an automated response when your busy seems really useful#best I can manage is ‘busy’#or ‘one moment please’#murderbot my beloved

I don’t see enough active support structures in sci-fi. They’re such a fun concept. Love to see the thought out details here.
Also skyhooks. Who doesn’t love a good skyhook?
This week on Runaway to the Stars: Talita is very excited to explain to you how the local megastructures work. Catch up with pages on runawaytothestars.com! Read ahead on Patreon!

Why mess about with so many units when electronvolts is all you need?
Energy from a reaction? -> eV
Temperature? -> eV
Pressure? eV/m^3
Wavelength of a photon? It’s energies the same thing -> eV
Velocity of an ion? Mass of a particle? Stopping power of a material? Ionisation energy?
Even journals that sensible demand SI units don’t complain about the universality of the cursed electronvolt.
#I find it funny when news articles report temperatures reached in fusion reactors in their headlines in celsius or kelvin#I have no idea what temperatures my plasmas are in kelvin#I consider 1 eV to be super cold. Which is around 11300°C#I found out I had simulations running with tungsten tiles that were over 1100K#(which is much high than it should have been)#because in the config someone had just set it to a ‘tiny’ 0.01 eV#plasma physics#fusion ramblings#phdblr

I beg for sleeping night fury, on my hands and knees and everything
Offering you my hand like I'm about to help you up, but I'm actually doing it so I can open my palm and show you this

Special feather care.
When I took this picture I was wondering a bit what this crow was doing, but looking at the pictures on my computer I noticed little specks on the feathers and zooming in I saw ants.

So my guess is that this crow was anting. Anting is a known behavior. Birds sit down in a place with lots of ants. Scientist think they do it because the ants secrete liquids that contain chemicals such as formic acid, which is sort of an insecticide and helps the bird to get rid of ectoparasites. There are other theories as well.

Rounding up ace week with that ace baby dragon design I made up last year 🖤🩶🤍💜 Hope you all had a nice one! Thanks for making it a nice one for me, and y'know I'll be there blabbing about being ace p'much any other day of the year anyway.
Taking this opportunity also to say, for those in/near Paris, that I'll be at Y/CON on November 9 and 10th selling the printed version of my comic as well as other stuff 👀 I'll share more info soon probably!

I love the hoatzin. I was lucky enough to see one in the wild and I still feel like we should only have fossils of them.
