if somebody gave me a nickle every time i'm happy in a new friend group at the start of the year only for them to start excluding me, ignoring me and generally treating me like i'm a pain in their ass MEANWHILE one person in said friend group knows that i have a crush on someone from this group and tells them without my consent and then my crush starts treating me like shit, ignoring me, acting like i am annoying them all the time and STRAIGHT UP REFUSING TO TALK TO ME AT ALL, while, at the same time, i'm closer to only one person in the group who knows how i feel and cares about me, i'd have two nickles, which is not a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice

and, if we go for the more basic "start the year in a friend group only for them to exclude me as soon as they can", i'd have three or four nickles

i just realized i truly can't see that scene in the trailer in which Mike and El are having a moment as anything other than a breakup + Mike's coming out scene. Literally there's no reason to see it and not think that. There's no more hope, they're not even trying. They already know it's the end... and still, it's so sweet in a platonic way. They love each other, they always did, just not like a couple, just not romantically. They're so important for each other, and they won't stop being that, but now they know that they don't have to force a romance anymore.
