Currently watching: I've been catching up on this season of Game Changer and also keeping up with Cloudward Ho! Both are great. Just finished the GC comedy club episode and Josh Johnson stole the show

Last song listened to: I'm actively listening to Everybody's Worried About Owen as I type this. Abandon the Hospital is playing atm, but I gotta say I'm obsessed with his new song Phantom Limb (serious Griddlehark vibes, I gotta say. So good!)

Sweet, savory, or sour: Savory with a touch of bitter is preferred I gotta say. I have, like, the opposite of a sweet tooth. If I eat sweet things I need to cut it with something savory/bitter like black coffee or something. Sour and sweet is a good combo but I only need a few bites to be happy and then I need something else

Last movie: I just watched both Batman Ninja movies with my friend the other week because she hadn't seen them and it was a great time. We spent the whole time screaming at the ridiculous shenanigans

Current obsession: (besides the aforementioned Phantom Limb?) I've been on a Winterhawk fic binge for like 6 weeks now lol (my reading tracker spreadsheet says I've read about 250 fics comprising a combined 4.5million words of Winterhawk fic since late April so I'll call that a bit of an obsession. Although that's only a third of the words I've read so far this year so not as much as some things)

Currently reading: Book wise? I've read the first few chapters of The Traitor Baru Cormorant by Seth Dickinson, although the beginning is very dense with world building so I set it down for a bit to stew on it. Fic wise? I'm currently reading through squadrickchestopher's Winterhawk fics on AO3

Currently working on: WMD!! As y'all have maybe seen my rambling posts, I finally finished part 1/4 and I'm now working on part 2 so I'm excited!!

Another thing fandom needs to start doing more of is projecting on tops.

There are delicious amounts of psychological distress you can inflict on that guy once you get into his head. The brainworms of forcing agency and initiative on someone who genuinely is Not Fucking Ready For It are exquisite.

at a conference I attended recently, a researcher pointed to the difficulty of finding material in archives because so much depends on the metadata and the terminology used to describe things changes over time. "it would be so helpful," the researcher said, "if I typed 'lesbian' into the library of congress database, it would also show me results that were categorised in the 50s, when the materials were interpreted as 'intimate female friendships'"

which is what tag wrangles at Archive Of Our Own do incredibly effectively: searching for "omegaverse" also leads to "alpha/beta/omega dynamics" and "alternate universe: a/b/o" and so on. but ao3 achieves this frankly incredible categorisation and indexing system by the power of countless volunteers putting in hours and hours of unpaid and unthanked free time, and it's completely understandable that most archives do not have that kind of infrastructure, but also how incredible that a fan-run website has better searchability, classification, and accessibility than the library of congress

writing is so funny because i could write nonstop for 9hrs and then hit a block where im like "how do i transition between this moment and the next?" and then i just dont touch it for 6 months

the insane experience of missing a fictional character . like you can always go back and reread the book , replay the game , rewatch the show or movie , you can always go back & see them , but you can never experience them & their story for the first time again . its absurd to miss them because they'll always be there , but you'll miss when there were still new things for them to say .

for a small time they were real & growing and changing and you hung onto every new word, but now all they can do is repeat the same story forever&ever & they're not real anymore because you know everything they're going to do. & you miss them. its fucked man...
