Triple threat - dnd campaign updates (4)

The boys are back in town

Last part is here:

session 15? (I don’t remember):

We get to the silver dragons lair and he introduces himself as Avoraxx, tells us that his wrymling son Syle was taken by a bunch of circus people who he invited into his home in thinking they were just harmless adventurers and stuff but nope they steal his son.

He told us he’d reward us and whatnot if we rescued his son and then asked if we could help him by being “pest control” (harpies) and how they’d made their way into the mountain and made their nest and he was tired of hearing them in his walls.

So we went into the maze of the walls, and found our way to where the harpies were. We all made makeshift earplugs and tried climbing up this rocky wall to where they were- unfortunately. Blooper failed a stealth? Survival? (I don’t recall) check and fell on some ice stuff which made the harpies start to sing louder as we got up.

Orion and Miles (despite having advantage due to ear plugs) both got lured- Orion who thought he saw his little sister and Miles who thought he saw his brother and his best friend. The two started uncontrollably sobbing and going after these illusions of their family/friends.

Luckily Orion very soon was able to succeed a save as he bonked into a tabaxi skull and realized “oh shit wait a minute” as for Miles- that man almost got carried away by a harpy until Blooper was able to cast blindness/deafness on Miles, so he couldn’t hear the song anymore. (I rolled a 4 on my wisdom save and I was so happy to fail) after that- Orion and Miles basically beat the shit out of the harpies.

Blooper tried to help but he mainly remained idle during the fight. Also Blooper got really hurt during this fight too (I think he got down to like 16 HP)

Miles was able to kill the mother harpy and used one of the whistle arrows he’d gotten to scare off a majority of the other harpies to fly off.

After the mom died- all the harpies began circling at the top above the mountain, Blooper used thaumaturgy to yell “your mother is dead, leave”

And they did, everyone left and we made our way back to Avoraxx, who was very delighted that his pest problem was taken care of and gave us a small scoop of his horde as reward, and we noticed he was Messing with a crystal ball- but not knowing what to do with it, we all managed to persuade him into letting him give us the ball so we could mess with it to see what was up.

We all spoke at it in different languages until Blooper spoke primordial to it- and that woke it up. Which we realized that this ball is like a sentient person.

Avoraxx then tried talking to it but after not getting answers he just threw the ball off to the side and complained about how it “wasn’t doing what it’s made to do”

Anyway, he offered us the ball if we were able to bring back his son.

Session 16:

We climbed down the mountain and made camp before hearing a call for help, initially thinking it might be a trap but it wasn’t- we found a gnome (or dwarf I literally don’t remember) trapped under a tree, and helped him out.

His leg was pretty messed up and he was cold and tired.

We made him a makeshift brace for his leg and let him camp with us for the night.

He told us his group probably wasn’t far away and that he was apart of the merchants guild as well- except he was from the ivory city. (Main city) and that this was enough for him. He was done and wanted to go home and not do adventuring anymore.

We were able to find his camp and they gave us food and cold weather gear.

And asked if we could go out and find their survey team who was surveying right outside the underdark in exchange for gold.

We agreed and went to find them.

Upon reaching the site- the ground was very odd looking, like many many holes (like cheese basically) in a tundra.

Quickly finding a group of terrified people hiding in a hole telling us that something killed their friends.

We also actively while walking on the surface felt something moving below us.

We got them out the hole and saw a baby Remorhazes (I think that’s the name?) this fucker killed a survey team person in one round (it did like 26 damage on one attack and ate a guy)

Anyways, Orion turned into a small housecat and zoomed in the opposite direction of the group while Miles ran the other way.

Ofc this thing followed Miles, and Miles was face to face with this creature.

He just kept running and bookin it, but then it turned to the survey team who isn’t moving and easy weak targets.

Orion saw this going down and ran back by turning into a panther, able to save one of the members as he ran back.

We only were able to save one person, but all three of us were fine.

I don’t remember how Blooper got off the map. But he did somehow.

We then went back to the camp and told them what was up, they thought it was weird that this creature was this far out here as it’s too cold for them here.

Which we suspected since it was a BABY and that it was so far out- mom must’ve had like a ton of kids and they all just kept moving out as their colony got bigger. (Like wreck-it Ralph)

Session 17:

We started making our way back to Valica and on the journey were stopped as we found a group of people in like full armor and stuff- looking like they were gonna kill something extreme.

This elf on a horse came and talked to us about how we shouldn’t go to Valica because of the dragon attack and we explained we actually came from Valica and were now coming back- this guy was confused as he didn’t see us come up on the trail from Valica.

But he wished us luck on our journey back.

Turns out that was the prince Zalastar and he was leading a dragon hunt.

Anyway, made our way back to Valica and the town was recovering from the dragon attack. We went to talk to Korg and Og to tell them that we were okay and what was going on.

Og seemed to have a merchants guild badge and a rank higher than us in it because he was actively helping out.

Korg was happy to see us and surprised we weren’t dead, and ofc we explained the situations to both of them.

We went to the local jail to see the circus people, Orion decided to turn into a panther for this to terrify them more.

We go in, after a few questions and Orion making them shit themselves by just messing with them and living up to the “demon cat” allegations, as well as persuading the prisoners with drugs (mushrooms). We found that there was a head of the circus named Thaal and he’d probably know about what we wanted to know.

We then- found Vizorazz in the jail as well, who was very pissed at us until we explained “yeah man you were just kinda. There.” And we bailed him out of jail as he promised to give us gold, we got his stuff back for him and he took us to a back alley where he had a box with a pouch of barely any gold left which he was pissed at since he figured his drow druid crime partner- took his share (her name is Nala) but we took some of his remaining gold, and gave him one of the poisonous mushroom drugs as well. And he was off and promised us a favor.

We made it to the building where Thaal was assumed to be, it was basically an office space building and we very soon found him.

He was an air genasi kinda dressed like a clown.

He wasn’t giving us any information and we got really frustrated with him. Until Blooper basically bullied him into fighting us.

Which we *mainly* played on defense the whole fight.

Blooper got shot out of his office by an air? Wave? Thing? He got pushed out really hard and hit the railing before falling back into someone’s desk on the first floor.

Orion used his dagger like once or twice within the fight while Miles just punched the guy like once.

We couldn’t let him die since he had info we needed.

Blooper talked to the crowd about what’d happened (kinda deceiving them leaving out that he made fun of bro) anyways, a paladin came to help us in our fight.

Thaal tried to deceive the paladin and say like “they’re attacking me :(“ but, Orion cast charm person on him.

We’d explain later.

So paladin helped us out and actually ended up killing Thaal by complete accident (he used divine smite and his sword didn’t stop going) Miles called out for a cleric with revivify, and luckily since clerics were called when Blooper fuckin fell like a Dingus- clerics were already being called and Thaal was able to get revivified.

He said how “there’s nothing left after this life” and talked about becoming a slime person which.

Means he’s a lawful evil person.

We finally got out the information about the dragon and he told us the dragon was in Arinthia and boom Thaal gets in trouble for being responsible for the dragon attack.

Orion dispelled the charm as the guards were coming to arrest both the paladin and Thaal.

Orion said “I’m sorry… I didn’t know what else to do…” and tried explaining, the paladin understood but now he was getting arrested and he lost his job.

We felt bad so we decided to talk to the inquisitors the next day to plead his case and bail him out.

Turns out the inquisitor was apart of a organization that goes as far as torturing and killing the guilty. (Miles knows this because he is a criminal and had to deal with these guys before)

The inquisitor was a really buff tiefling woman and we pleaded his case the next day, explaining the whole situation and she got into some details about laws and spells and all that and we were able to get him out.

He was surprised to see us and we explained how we felt bad and wanted to help him out, we didn’t ask for anything in return but he felt in-debted to us. The only thing we asked was that he teach Orion how to use a scythe. (I completely forgot to mention we went to the ivory city. We went shopping there- that’s how Orion got his scythe. Miles got alcohol and we also heard about portals opening up north in Arinthia, also there was a big underdark mine in ivory city.)

The paladin was surprised that, that’s all we wanted from him.

He introduced himself as Theodrin but we all just call him Theo, and he’s a half elf paladin of Ilmator.

He started traveling with us and Miles asked if he’d ever met any other paladins and asked if he met a 5’5 drow paladin with a wooden prosthetic leg (referring to his brother) and Theo said yes- that he met someone with that description about a month ago, heading to Arinthia as he was looking for someone in the shadowfell and that he was really nice and helped Theo out with some bandits.

Sounded like an exact match for Miles’ younger brother.

Session 18:

We helped out at the merchants guild for a little bit before grabbing Theo and going to our journey to Arinthia, Theo also explained that he knew a silver dragon wouldn’t had done this, and we found out that Theo’s hyperfixation was on dragons so. Bro knows a lot about dragons.

Anyway, first day of traveling went fine.

Night went bad though.

As Miles was watching over the campsite, (4 hour nap was over) he saw someone shuffling just outside of his dark vision and then a lizardfolk tried to kill him from behind.

Fun.

Everyone else woke up and saw the fight goin down. I think Miles went to like 9 HP, bro wasn’t lookin too good.

Anyways after beating these two up, tying them up and taking their shit they explained how they were assassins hired to kill Miles and that they got an in from the merchants guild saying Miles was heading this way.

They figured it’d be easy but yk it’s a full on party of people, just just one guy.

Theo was happy at first saying how he “knew he joined the right adventuring party” since we didn’t kill these guys and stabilized them initially. But yk. Then finding out Miles is infact a wantef criminal on the run and wanted for (accidental) terrorism and stuff. Theo wasn’t happy about that and Blooper and Miles did try to explain what really went on after we set the two assassins go- (we took all their stuff though)

Miles went back to do a long rest (which luckily is only a 4 hour nap for him) because he was so low on health.

We talked some more to Theo about what really happened and asked him some more about Miles’ brother Kilo.

(Haha get it, Miles and Kilometers. I’m so funny)

We were about to pass by the main city again- ivory city and didn’t really want to go in since they gave Miles a hard time at first, but when we went in the second time Theo was able to quickly explain that we needed in and whatnot. (I think we came here to stock up on supplies) we then heard about a monster of some sort terrorizing the mines and preventing the people from generating any new minerals for trade and whatnot. But that was basically it.

We bought some tents and that was that.

Theo bought us all rooms, and we decided to open up the book that Quintillious gave to Orion.

We did show this book to Avoraxx and he told us that this was like a terrible book that even some gods have banned this book. That this book could rewrite time itself and the universe as we know it. That being said- we all tried to open it. Then it got to Orion, and he was able to open it but he fell through the book into like a pocket dimension from within the book.

Everything was dark and Orion then saw a pair of red eyes from the darkness.

Whatever this thing was- it was huge and it had extremely long fingers. And he was asking Orion for a way out. Which Orion didn’t want to do, and tried to leave multiple times but he was unsuccessful and this thing had now fused with Orion’s body. The two becoming one.

He gasped away from the book and slammed it on the ground and curled up in a ball yelling “get out of my head” Blooper and Miles were very confused as for their point of view just saw Orion casually reading a book and calmly saying “give me a minute-“ when asked what the book said.

Anyways so Orion is possessed.

Miles decided to stay the night with Orion because he only needs 4 hours sleep and Orion spoke about how he didn’t want to be alone.

Orion barely was able to sleep, having constant nightmares of this thing where, he wasn’t in his own body and in some kind of war where there were literally rivers of blood and people yelling at him which he understood somehow and just kept killing these creatures in this war.

He also- knew something about Orion as well.

This book, was told to be written by Vecna when he was alive and that’s all we know.

Also that when Orion spoke in abyssal to this book it kinda perked up. And now Orion was proficient in arcana.

Fun stuff.

Also during the night Miles saw Orion sit up- do a big stretch, bigger than he’s ever seen Orion do before before rolling over, smiling and going back to sleep.

Not ominous.

At all.

Next morning Theo questioned Orion’s behavior since he was so tired, and Theo asked if he was sick, which.

I guess is one way to put it.

Theo offered to make soup which- I love this man but Miles interjected by saying “not that kinda sick” which- Theo seemed to kinda? Get the idea?

Anyway. I think that was it for that session?

Triple threat - dnd campaign updates (3)

Fellas.

Here was the last part of you didn’t get the chance to read it:

Back to the main story, session 11:

A very short session, all we did was beat up a set of magical armor and a flying sword in a basement and grabbed the amulet we were tasked to retrieve. that was literally it.

session 12:

Still in the basement, as we heard voices coming down as the two people saw us- the tiefling of the two asked if we were the delivery people as to which, Miles teleported behind him said "yes" and tried pushing him down the stairs. Their names are Vizorazz- whos the tiefling, and Lana? Who's a drow. Lana fell and prior to this Blooper had iced the bottom step, which made Lana prone basically the entire fight.

Miles and blooper almost died but luckily with a good tempest cleric hit to Vizorazz he was knocked unconscious.

And Lana got away Scott free by turning into a bear.

We looted Vizorazz and found an undercommon letter on him written in thieves cant

Some noise was going on outside the building so we hid as some cloaked figures with no faces came in and inspected the place and did some hand gestures towards one another before leaving.

We turned Vizorazz in jail and got the necklace back to Korg who was more than happy about that and I think we then became official members of the merchants guild.

I also forgot to mention that we ended up doing this instead of entering into a archery competition where Blooper started beef with another archer.

Anyway.

We packed in for the night and Orion slept on the roof of the inn and during the night saw some of those robed figures many houses away talking amongst themselves.

Anyway,

At the festival there were a ton of different merchants and the gang all got some stuff.

Orion chatted with an old woman who was selling her sons adventuring gear as he’d passed away, and Orion gave her a flower and the amulet he’d gotten from Samantha as he felt bad and didn’t want to take anything- but she was kind enough to let him have the magic quill that would never run out of ink and could change color.

Very cool.

Blooper got this powder that would make someone unable to breathe upon blowing it in their face.

And Miles- got. A lot of arrows.

More specifically he was tasked to take down this one merchants rivaling seller for arrows

Because Miles is a broke bitch.

Anyway, we talked to the rival seller for a while and he was just a really nice elf guy who wanted to spread peace and was really wanting us to buy these non lethal punching arrows.

We didn’t.

We kinda made fun of him actually.

Anyways after stalking him we found where he and his partner were staying and snuck into their room, stole all their arrows except the non lethal ones and then orion snuck in and threw flowers everywhere.

We left and that merchant had to leave town because of that, which the guy who set Miles up to the task was ecstatic about that and gave Miles three whistle arrows which- upon shooting them would scare any and all creatures/enemies within the area away. (Unless they made the wisdom save of 13)

Very cool.

For the third and final day, not much happened other than that and the great feast and speech at the end of the festival by the mayor.

But since there was an election currently happening- both of the candidates decided to speak.

We ate some food but the weather started picking up and as the two candidates were about to do their speech- conditions got much.

Much. Worse as a snowstorm started picking up and it looked like a tornado was in its way to hit the city.

Everyone panicked and rushed to shelter- we made it to the merchants guild for shelter as Korg was ushering people in.

But.

As we all made it in- we heard a massive roar outside, which. Actually was something (or someone) yelling in draconic “Syle, where have you taken my boy?!” And looking out the window to see a silver dragon being the cause of the storm.

Miles- the only one that can speak and understand draconic with a charisma score of 10. Went out and decided to talk him down.

And with good enough wording and no dice rolls (except for one insight roll the dragon made on miles) all was fine and Miles promised to help this dragon find his son Syle.

The other goobers came out and we all flew to the dragons lair.

What Miles had essentially said to this dragon was “I understand your pain, but you can’t be destroying this town in the process.” As. The dragon looked at Miles and said “I sense great loss within you” (insight check) which is true.

We leveled up after that! Miles got his horizon Walker subclass and that was the session.

Session 13? I don’t know anymore it’s probably been much more than that to be honest:

Cleric (blooper) was busy with college so it was a session with Miles and Orion.

We did a murder mystery as this session timeline wise takes place after the saving Layani session.

We’re on a smugglers ship to get to the ivory kingdom. Blooper was sea sick the entire time and so Orion and Miles bunked up.

Orion made friends with a leonin barbarian who we all nicknamed “grandpa”

Anyway- during one of the nights a cloaked figure came up and stabbed a guy and ran off, which Miles tried to run after the killer- didn’t work he ate shit.

And the commotion woke everyone up- Orion tried to cure this guys wounds but that didn’t work. Bro was dead.

After some perception checks we found some wet footprints leading down to the cargo of the ship- and found a wet cloak and bloodied knife in a barrel of rice.

Dumped the rice, we then found an elf in the lookout who was wet who we initially thought was the killer based off this- but he told us he was a sea elf and he was out for a swim, also he was terrified of Miles and thought Miles was the killer at first as well. Anyway.

the next day Orion and Miles went on their long journey of questioning everyone aboard the ship or- everyone they could within one day.

We talked to a human wizard named Quintillious first who was a prick and we hated and he charmed Miles into telling him his name and after the spell Miles punched this man so hard that this man was left with a broken nose and ended up pissing himself.

(Miles has an 18 strength) Orion cured his wounds and we found that Quintillious was probably innocent. He was up trying to practice dark magic and had a stolen book from his college that he ended up giving to Orion. (Important information for later.) next person we spoke to was a dhampir bard named Aurora. Aurora told us she was practicing her song, which- no one was around to hear that.

Until.

Thought of the sea elf- Feyren.

Miles went and grabbed him, dragging him down as Orion spoke to Aurora which Aurora explained that she saw Miles chase after the killer- that the killer had a void for a face and that she witnessed Miles absolutely eat shit before she misty stepped outta there.

Feyren and Aurora spoke and Feyren said he did infact hear her singing and that it was a lovely song, but.

Seemed like those two had an alibi of their cases checking out.

Next we spoke to Drake- a dragonborn who was one of the crew hands. He was very short with his answers and not very compliant.

We basically annoyed him enough till he spilled his answers.

He told us he was drinking with Skrill (the guy who died) and that Skrill was in some debts with other people and whatnot- and that Skrill actually owed Drake.

Anyway, after that.

We met Lloyd- (not Samantha’s husband who’s actually named Luke) Lloyd was another human crewmember who apologized for Drake’s rudeness and told us he was just asleep during the murder and offered to give us some info on the case.

Our last questioning of the day led to the leonin barbarian and his roomate Kadoris.

The leonins name is Draz and him and Miles talked as the hair we found on the hair that was in the rice earlier on the murder clothes was an exact match to his.

Orion talked to Kadoris and mainly it was Orion asking about Draz.

The conversation didn’t really confirm anything but Draz did say he met another shadar Kai before and Kadoris said that there was one time where Draz fell off a chair but caught himself and was very nimble and agile about it while he thought he was gonna fall.

That was basically it.

We went to bed and while in the night someone tried to break into Orion and Miles’ room. We tried to see who it was but the cloaked figure teleported away before we could get them because Orion failed a stealth check.

Miles used detect portal and found one deep below within the sea.

We grabbed Feyren who was frantic and telling us that he saw the person teleport away.

Which we know, which Miles asked if Feyren could check out what’s below us- he swam down and saw a bunch of shark people, and maybe? They saw him? But he swam up as soon as he thought that. Anyway. Next day rolls around as we were unsuccessful at finding the killer, we talked to Rumtum who’s another crewhand who we were sure didn’t do it as he was with Miles at the time of the event and was basically our main man on the ship for information.

We told him about the portal and that the guy tried breaking into our room and also told him a little bit about why we thought this was happening (miles thought it had something to do with his bounty) and he told us about the shark people as well and that they raid ships at night and whatnot.

Not great.

We then went to talk to Kadoris and get his alibi- which we asked him a series of very strange questions to which he admitted to killing someone who was harassing his sister Rebecca. Which.

Was not what we were asking about at all. But alright man.

As to which Miles vaguely admitted to his own crime to Kadoris and then Kadoris threw up as he got sea sick and tried to cast prestigitation but it didn’t fully work. And that was our first murder mystery session and we didn’t come back to this background session for like a month- but we did finish it.

second part of murder mystery

We sat down for dinner with Aurora and Kadoris- Aurora wanted to know if we had any new info- which we shut her down and very quickly asked her to misty step as a demonstration to prove her innocence. she kinda had an "oh shit did I just criminalize myself" moment. we thenasked Kadoris if he wanted to sleep in our room because we suspected Draz due to his hair being on the murder clothes. Lloyd bumped into us and whispered to meet him after dinner as he said he might have info to give us.

We stayed and watched everyone on their behavior after dinner- Drake and Quintillious gave us the worst vibes. After that we made our way back to our room to find Kadoris who told us that Draz was okay with it, we completely forgot that we had to talk to Lloyd- so we made our way to his room.

We opened the room to a bloody nightmare- Lloyd was dead, his wounds looked to be from necrotic damage and he had bloody knuckles- so he did put up a fight.

We grabbed a key off of him to open a chest in his room, which we found a journal, a letter a few coins and a small toy.

His journal seemed to be average at first but quickly turned to the murder case- seeing that Lloyd was doing some investigating of his own. saying who had motives, etc, having checks, lines and x's over each person. the letter he had written was one to his elven wife and his half elf child saying things along the lines of "this will be good for us," and talking about how they could have a new life in farport as a fresh start- and the toy was from his son. People started coming back to the room and we had to leave. Orion turned into a cat and Miles teleported out.

Miles was covered in blood because he had to loot Lloyd's body for the key and whatnot. So, he cleaned himself off by thornwhipping to the side of the boat and just let the waves wash over him, after he got out he's drenched in water, bro is soaked. Rumtum found him and was very confused as to why Miles was soaking asking him what happened. and his responses were just "ocean." and pointed at it, Rumtum asked him if he was thrown overboard and if he was okay Miles just shook his head and said "it was an active choice." And- Miles, proving a strange enough person as is. that was enough to not be questioned further- Rumtum took a double take. Anyway, we met back up and Orion un-wildshaped (also Yes this story takes place prior to the campaign but we didn't un-level-up because our dm didn't wanna put up with that. so we're level 3/4? but in the past. we were told to see this kinda like a dream) and Miles showed up as well, we were both pretty quiet until Orion started tearing up and Kadoris had cast prestitigtation but only got Miles' skin and not his clothes. We showed Kadoris the book and then were about to sleep before Rumtum called everyone out on deck as he didn't want to lose anyone else and was now going to search everyone here, since "the killer was looking for something" being the journal, letter and toy we took. but, Kadoris still had the book- and Kadoris based on what Rumtum said- was about to rat us out until Orion cast charm person on him to make him shut up basically. Anyway, we played into helping Rumtum and swapped the book for a waterskin and then Miles went to actually search a few people- searching Quintillious he found a very nice dagger on him and Quintillious was frantic to explain that he only got it out to defend himself because of the murder.

He seemed more like a scared boy rather than an actual killer though, moving on searching Drake and couldn't find anything on him as Orion was too scared to search him- Miles just, couldn't find anything. (we both rolled badly) Anyway, after not finding the book Rumtum was frustrated and told us that everyone was to stay in their rooms until the rest of the trip, except for Orion and Miles who were going to be sleeping in the crew's room and swapping with Feyren and Drake. as we all went back- Orion dispelled the charm and explained within 15 seconds (that's how much time he gave us) that he started crying because his parents got ripped apart as a kid etc. that seemed to make him believe us- Miles gave him a dagger to defend himself but Kadoris didn't hide it. at all. so we grabbed him and were gonna put it in his boot but. already found one in there which we figured was strange. so we took Miles' dagger back and wished him luck. During the night- since Miles only needs 4 hours sleep, he went out and returned the journal and such before going around the ship to hear in on peoples conversations. he tried listening to Feyren and Drake, didn't hear anything (I rolled a 4), and then went to Kadoris and Draz's room and heard talking and knew exactly who it was. It was Kadoris on a sending stone talking about how no on has a clue it's him, he's got them all fooled and that everyone here is dumb, etc. and a few things clicked and lined up to him being the killer: The hair on the clothes, because Draz was shedding, not being able to cast prestitation fully as he could do it on skin but not clothes, and when Lloyd bumped into us- Kadoris was right. there. Our dm felt bad because we hadn't come back to this session in ages.

Anyway, upon this- Miles ran into the crew room and yelled to wake them up, quickly explained the situation and we started making a plan. Basically- Orion was gonna turn into a crocodile and start a riot on the ship to get Kadoris out of his room. Which, we did- but during this Rumtum opened their door and was unable to successfully play it off (lying) and Kadoris immediately could tell what was up as he reached into seemingly no where before grabbing out a weapon- We were able to get Draz out within our surprise round but Kadoris went first and fuckin killed Rumtum within one round. as Rumtum's last words were "they're gonna kill you" Orion attacked as a crocodile and the crew joined in to all attack him, during the fight Kadoris threw down some smoke bombs to blind us- Orion succeeded the save but Miles and most of the crew didn't. luckily however- Miles based off sound and guessing was able to tell where Kadoris was. Things weren't lookin good so Kadoris decided to jump into the ocean, which Miles teleported to him and Orion turned back into himself before casting speak with animals and jumping in the water to yell at any fish in the water like "hey this guy is a murderer" and there was a shark within the water who started swimming towards him. Kadoris and Miles kinda had a stare off while in the water because. yeah. Kadoris was kinda fucked now as, he couldn't go back to the ship- everyone wants to kill him, couldnt reallt go up as Miles was there and couldn't go down- there's a shark. He dropped his weapon and tried to surrender, as him and Miles had a conversation while Orion and the shark circled the two. Basically it ended with Kadoris giving up and them just going to take him to prison. We tied him up and for the next few days publicly shamed him.

Orion got ahold of Kadoris's weapon and asked him to unatune to it as Orion atuned to it and turned it into a sickle and got kadoris's necrotic damage oil thing. Kadoris explained that he was getting into the black cloak assassins league and this was his like, test and way in- that he has an in to the assasins league as he had a childhood friend in it. and he was in it for the money, etc. basically anyone who had beef with this league would soon end up dead etc. anyway kadoris also had his reward money behind a tavern in farport. and those were the murder mystery sessions.

Triple Threat - dnd campaign updates (2)

A story about three goobers

If you haven’t read the first campaign update here it is

Next session, session 5/6:

After waking up, Miles attempted to roll the bodies off the cliff to have any remaining conscious ones dead.

Two of the three he rolled woke up, those two being the bugbear bossman who beat the shit out of Blooper, and a hobgoblin who said something along the lines of skinning Orion for a rug (because. Tabaxi lore.)

The third was the half orc who Orion charmed and whatnot and he died and Orion set him on fire on our way back down.

Anyway- the bugbear started bookin it and Miles tried shooting him but was off by one point on his AC (also I wasn’t counting attack bonuses at this point since I was fairly new)

Anyways, he got away.

The hobgoblin on the other hand we ended up tying up and taking all his stuff so he couldn’t hurt us.

He apologized to Orion and told us that basically all the goblins here were being blackmailed and he had a family he needed to provide for.

We told him his boss got away and then he asked us to kill him, we didn’t. He told us basically if bugbear got away then his family was probably already dead.

Told us his name was Ogabond but we all just call him Og.

Two of the merchants were frkm Valica while Lloyd (Samantha Green’s husband) was from Farport.

So we all went to Valica first since that was much closer, and returned the the merchants back home.

But, there was a lot of bustling within the streets and it was super busy. Odd.

Orion went to ask someone what was happening and Orion and Miles specifically had not a clue what was happening, Blooper probably would’ve known.

Turns out there was a dragon festival happening and it’d be an event for the next three days. Pretty cool.

Also it was a colder day than usual (this will be important information for later)

The three of us decided to go chat with Korg, as we did. Orion and Miles decided to be very strange about it.

As- Orion snuck in, and Miles decided to book it in.

One important thing to note is that all three of these goobers are covered in blood.

Miles was tackled by a guard but teleported out of his grasp to right outside Korg’s office as Orion ended up there as well.

As for Blooper- he literally just asked the front desk where Korg was and if he was available.

We go to Korg and he’s happy to see us and we told him what was up and everything.

He was very impressed with us and offered us a job at the merchants guild in helping some beast tamers gather silk from spiders.

And he told us we should join the merchants guild etc.

We started considering the idea. As Blooper was on board while Miles? Not so much.

Anyway, Korg lent Dragon and Orion an armed guard carriage to return the remaining merchant(s?) back to Farport.

Korg said that we basically got rid of any threats that would be to and from the two places but despite that yk still heavily guarded.

Now I don’t remember everything to an exact point but basically a long rest happened somewhere and Og got out of his restraints and just lied down on the ground and Miles gave him a blanket.

Next morning Miles made fun of Blooper a little bit. Because. Their relationship is very much like overly competitive siblings.

Anyway, festival was setting up and during this we saw a beast keepers exhibit, which Miles was able to sneak over to and see two fey dragons who wanted out.

After telling the situation to Blooper and Og, we concluded we needed thieves tools to make this work. But. We are all broke.

What was the next best thing? Pickpocketing the public.

We got over 70 gold from that with Miles and Og pickpocketing and Blooper being once again- a good distraction.

We’re able to get some thieves tools and we waited for night to come.

Orion and dragon made it to farport and returned Lloyd home. I’m now realizing his name was actually Luke and not Lloyd.

But I guess that doesn’t matter too much because we never heard from him again. However we do meet another Lloyd within this later, so. They aren’t the same person I wanna make that clear.

Samantha was happy to have her husband back home and gave Orion a magical amulet and some money. Orion went back to mr Keraldac to get the money promised to us for solving the case.

He promised us 60 gold and doubled if we could take care of it.

After Orion struggling to remember how much he owed us, he was able to get the money.

Also. To any of you wondering: he loves the rats we gave him.

Also Miles named them since he tamed them and their names are Vanilla and Mayonnaise. Neither are white.

Anyway, got the money and Orion had to figure a way back. And I don’t really remember how it led to this? But basically Orion turned into a horse and tricked a farmer into thinking he had 4 horses and not 3, and Orion convinced all the horses to be free and follow him to Valica.

The farmer tried to get his horses back but Orion turned into a panther and terrorized this man and then left and eventually found his way back to Valica.

We all met back up and relayed the plan we were trying to enact.

We tried to talk nicely to the people and convince them to let the dragons go- that didn’t work. Also it was much more guarded now that it was night.

So what ended up happening was Og started throwing punches at Blooper as a distraction. Making a scene so the guards had to run to separate the two. Miles ran off and was able to free one of the feydragons with thieves tools but that took a solid minute and while that was happening- one of the guards started coming back.

Orion turned into a small black cat and went over to the guard and started purring rubbing up against the guards legs.

The guard thought he was super cute and assumed Orion was a stray cat and not a full grown man pretending to be a kitten. And took Orion back to his home.

Blooper was able to make the fight look big and believable with his time as a sailor spitting the most horrid words out of his mouth but the guards were able to separate them and it died down.

As for Miles- the guards now that the fight died down were coming back and the second feydragon was urging for them to leave.

Miles wasn’t having that, he was able to crowbar the cage open which- yea it’s loud, and that alerted the guards as Miles teleported into a back alleyway unseen.

Orion now at a random guy’s house- wasn’t his house, he was just in town for the festival. The guy had a very makeshift room and was trying to take care of him, Orion had to figure a way out so.

Once again.

Panther mode.

Terrorizing this man, and then booking it out of the home and through the town which he did get shot at a few times but was able to zoom off- into the water and then back out on land as himself again.

Gang met back up (hurray) and Orion was able to make quite the impression on both towns as “the demon cat” and.

Orion doesn’t even hurt people when he does that, he licks them and then runs off. (First man he did hurt by accident while licking his face, second guy he just licked his hair) and the beast keepers were blamed for that incident.

Session 7/8 (I don’t remember at all):

Miles was blessed with the ability to speak draconic by the fey dragons who thanked him in his “sleep”

We all went out and decided to take down the rest of the beast keeper place, as a lot of boats were boarding we tried to figure out which one it was- Orion easily figured it out.

Blooper was easily able to board the boat with Miles (sailor background)

And the two made it on easily.

Orion asked Og to make a distraction but not punch or hurt him in doing so- which Og decided instead to brawl with a random civilian.

That worked pretty well.

Orion turned into a beaver and started chewing at the rope docking the ship, unfortunately he was caught- as a guy bumped into him, just thinking it was weird but Orion then turned into a panther, clawing at the rope and then leaping onto the boat, which- that mixed with Bloopers move water to push the boat- was more than able to set sail.

Also the crowd seeing Orion made them wanna fight him but luckily Orion was mostly uninjured.

Keep in mind that Miles and Blooper have no fucking clue that this is Orion.

The two people on board the top deck were pretty shaken at this, and initially tried to shoot Orion but both Blooper and Miles were able to “animal handle” Orion and everything. The two on board gave them some rope to leash Orion up.

And then take him down below to put him with the others.

Once we got down, no one else was in the room so Orion turned back into himself.

And we saw three cages- one holding a blink dog, one holding this little mushroom lizard and the third holding an owlbear.

We tamed and freed all three of them.

The blink dog teleported out of existence, the mushroom lizard we ended up taking with us and we named him Celery. And the owlbear we got out and it caused fuckin havoc- screams being turned to silence very quickly and it terrorized a few townspeople as well before hopping into the sea and swimming off.

Orion blew a hole in the ship which ended up sinking it as we all swam off- oh right forgot to mention as well that while we were setting sail we saw Og getting arrested and looking beaten the hell up.

Anyway, we swam off and ended up going somewhere else so we wouldn’t be suspected as blooper drained all the water from us but now Celery was mad at us.

He tried to poison us all once- but that didn’t work, Orion just used a little gust of wind to blow it away. Miles picked him up and he tried to poison miles but that didn’t work, he was pretty exhausted after that so he just gave up.

We saw all the beast keeper circus people getting arrested meanwhile we got off Scott free.

And then went to a local jail to see where Og was.

After a few inquiries and questions we were able to get him and his stuff out, he was confused why we helped him and Blooper told him “because you’re our friend. We hope.” One of the many things he had on him as he gave him his stuff back was a bone carving of something that looked to be like a toy- and when we gave it back he started crying and whispering something in goblin, Miles was able to comfort him a little bit before we moved on to the next thing.

We went to Korg to see what was up and he seemed very stressed and out of it.

Asked him what was wrong and he said basically that this item had gone missing of a very valuable noble woman and he tasked us to go find out what was happening.

We followed a long trail of scattered jewelry/gold and stuff that led to a caravan of these guys who’s thing was knocked over, we told him basically what was goin on. That we worked for Korg and they pointed us in the right direction, leading us to a place at the very edge of the city called “the witches cauldron” we went in, and after some investigation we noticed a bookshelf out of place, which we pushed out of the way and delved into an underground basement.

The next two sessions, which I'll just label 9 and 10 for simplicity sake were "background sessions" that were done with the ranger (Miles/me) and cleric (Blooper) because the druid (Orion) was on vacation.

TW: abusive relationship, and drug mentions

This was how Blooper and Miles met- so those two were hired by a local farmer named Gregory to save a noble woman named Layani from an abusive relationship with the lord Ophellion.

Gregory and Layani were actaully in a relationship with one another and Layani's father- mr Goodman, was marrying her off so that the family could essentially earn more money and whatnot. Mr Goodman was noted not to be a bad person, just making a bad decision he was unaware of Ophellion being a terrible person.

Anyway, we had to figure out a way to sneak into the noble's party- gregory told us to get suits from a local tailor and tell him that he sent us there. we did- and started getting our suits done tailored after the underdark and oshabara, he told us he'd work fast and we'd have to check back in tomorrow.

In the meantime we spent our time going around town and getting any info we could on the marriage and lord Ophellion, a drug addict told us he beat someone alive and then went to have a nice conversation while blood was still on his fist and that the body got dragged away via an invisible force. basically just heard a lot about an invisible body guard.

We asked some guards what they'd known about it as well and they gave us the minimal info that they had- (I don't remember specifics)

We then went to scope out the house that was having the party and made some form of plan with Gregory that he'd set the outside gate on fire and Blooper and Layani would escape through the garden.

Also we ended up getting poisonous drug mushrooms from the addict on the streets so we could poison Ophellion's drink.

Our suits were done the next day and the gnome tailor helped us get ready for the party and told us not to run in our suits because the fabric was cheap and would easily rip.

We ended up heading to the party and that's where the first session ended.

next session of this two parter:

we basically lied our way into the party, scoped it out- Blooper was the life of the party while Miles just averagely fit in. Blooper gossipped with all the other nobles and tried to get information out from them, which led to finding out that most of the people at this party were for Ophellion and that a lot of people had good things to say about him. other than a few where one of them told him that Ophellion ripped him off in a deal and when he spoke out about it- he was basically left for dead and that he was only here to "make up" for it. and that if this person wasn't like a noble- he'd probably be dead.

Another person was an older dwarf man, who told Blooper that Ophellion got into some beef with his son and he was just here to "make ammends" despite the dwarf's hatred towards Ophellion. He also told Blooper that Ophellion got into an accident when he was a kid where his entire face burned off via fire- but with modern medicine he has not a single trace of it on his face. Ophellion and Layani finally made their way down as Ophellion was a half drow, and Layani was a half elf- she has two younger brothers and her mom- the elf. is dead. anywho- Ophellion is apart of the royal bloodline and was very distantly related to them, also found out that "An angel protects the royal bloodline" and it was a surprise to hear anything spoken of a "guardian" for Opehllion BECAUSE he's so distantly related.

Anyway, those two come down and while coming down someone on the steps got shoved by a seemingly invisible force. Anyway- Layani and Ophellion did their little dance and then invited everyone else to dance as well, Blooper and Miles both got asked to dance- Blooper accepted and danced meanwhile, Miles declined and decided to explore the house. He went upstairs and was immediately stopped by someone telling him that they were trying to keep the party downstairs- did that stop him? no. Ignoring this person completely he found Mr Goodman's room and broke in, stealing some letters off his desk (which I could not read, because that's Miles's character flaw, however much later we ended up reading them) the letters basically said "thank you so much for this opportunity" and "we're so grateful" etc. leaving he almost got caught again but teleported away then went to explore the home a bit more. He found Layani's room next and not a lot stood out. Other than bloody bandages on the bed that looked to be from a headwound. not great.

the music started to die down so he made his way back but as he did, He saw a small cut on Layani's head from above- not nearly to the severity of the bloody bandages, but oh shit healing magic exists.

Blooper questioned where the fuck Miles went and after a few "doin ur mom" jokes from the man who is basically 40 (he's 381, I play him like a 40 yr old) Layani and Ophellion were chatting with guests, line for gifts started forming and it was go time to enact plan. Blooper presented an ice scupture of dragons to present and tried to lure Ophellion away from Layani- Miles did as well but neither attempts worked. Miles got on Ophellions suspion radar as he was the only one in underdark colors and he didn't invite anyone from the underdark. fun.

During the time Blooper spent talking with the guests who wanted to talk to Ophellion and Layani, Blooper basically hinted at some stuff in the "I'm here to rescue you" sense as Ophellion went out to the bathroom. Miles followed him there and tried locking him in and burning the stalls down, that went. horribly wrong. Ivisible guy bonked Miles in the head as Ophellion got out and saw this goingg down- was about to brawl but Ophellion fear of fire so that made him panic and he ran off as the only weapon Miles was able to sneak in was a dagger, so he was able to teleport away, heal himself, thornwhip the weapon out of the big guy's hands and then burn him- Ophellion spent most the fight cowering which Miles threw some flames at him which snapped him out of it, as now guards started getting alerted- all the while Blooper kinda got the gest of something being up and he got Layani to come with him as he tried to get his and Miles's stuff and leave. Layani had no clue what was goin on, as Blooper went outside and tried to distract some guards by shooting the signal for Gregory which worked as Gregory started setting fire to the gate, Miles got a bit beaten up but was able to leave by climbing the wall as everyones attention shifted towards both of the fires (outhouses and wall) we were able to get Layani free, safe and sound now with Gregory- but not without burning down her house by accident and committing treason and terrorism since a lot of nobles died at that party. (my bad) and now theres a 1,000 GD bounty on Miles' head. Also Layani confirmed all the terrible things about Ophellion and that the head wraps were indeed because of him and she gave Blooper an amulet that casts cure wounds once a long rest and that it was a gift from Ophellion incase he "went too far"

Also, she was going to be Ophellion's third wife.

Ophellion is unfortunately still alive as every cleric was on to helping him recover. surely this wont have any dire consequences. surely not.

That’s where I’ll leave this part at its end :)

Triple Threat - dnd campaign updates (1)

A story of three lonely fellas who no longer wish to be lonely anymore.

Our story begins with our three goobers:

Blooper Inkwell- a water genasi tempest cleric

Orion Estelle- a tabaxi druid

Miles Moonshine- a shadar Kai ranger

(We’re starting at level one)

I’ll try to give you guys like a reasonable amount of updates within each post because this campaign has been going on for almost a year now so. It’s a lot of information and I don’t wanna overwhelm people within ONE post.

Session 1/0:

Our three goobers find ourselves in the Ivory Kingdom which is a sub-Arctic continent, similar to Greenland.

We find ourselves in the small town of Farport which is a port trading town, and isn’t the wealthiest.

Miles got arrested for a month for jaywalking because he inconvienced the prince Zalastar and was locked up with a half orc jail mate and barely got any sleep as his jail mate snored a lot.

After getting out, he and his two buddies went out to go take a quest.

The quest was: merchants from Farport have gone missing when going to the city of Valica, since the two places are partners in that.

We went to go talk to the mayor of Farport, who knew Miles after writing him up a few times for shenanigans (crime) upon explaining who the three were he called us “stupid enough” to do this quest. After some. Interesting banter, we went off to see Samantha Green- who’s husband was a merchant and he went missing upon trying to go to Valica.

We spoke to her and gave her our word we’d bring her husband home, and she asked if we could help her out with a rat problem she was having.

We go out to the barn, and I’m like 90% sure they were dire rats (our dm didn’t say) but they were dog sized rats. And they were all covered in blood and munching on something.

After taming two of them and killing the third who was feral. We cleaned them up, got our pay from Samantha who was horrified. And decided it’d be funny if we gave the rats to the mayor.

He was not happy about that as we walk away and hear “WHAT THE FUCKKKK” being screamed from his home.

We found an inn and that was our first session.

Session 2:

We are all broke and cannot afford a horse and Orion can’t wildshape yet.

The next best thing to carrying a wagon full of trading goods? Use the party tank. (Miles)

The goods had the alert spell on them, and the mayor threatened us.

Anyway- walk to Valica is a two days walk on foot. (Or one and a half, I don’t recall) and most of it was uphill.

On our way there, we heard noises within the trees- as to which, Orion went and hid on the opposite side and Blooper attempted to scare away by using thaumaturgy and yelling “HEY FUCKER”

This did not work.

A half orc came out, and upon bloopers yelling ripped his map in half. Now pissed at us, Blooper and Miles got ready to fight.

Meanwhile since Orion was never spotted- he used charm person, and came out and basically said “hey big guy. Go that way.” And that. Worked.

After that we obtained the torn map, and found there was an X on it in between the mountains we were in.

We’d check that out later.

Continuing our journey we found a Selune temple looking ravaged, there was blood on the trees and ground, arrows, etc. and there were three pairs of footprints going deeper into the woods.

We decided to check that out later as we had a delivery to make.

We all went to sleep in the forest and got up the next day and headed to Valica.

There was an election happening between two mayors: Gilbert Thornwell(?) and Lyre Everrose.

What we gathered was that Gilbert was a gnome who was bigger on community and keeping the people of Valica together and strengthening it, while Lyre was bigger on expansion and capitalism, strengthening bonds of the economy. Wasn’t long before we found the merchants guild.

After some issues with the guards, we eventually got in and met the head of the merchants guild- a half orc named Korg.

Prior the mayor of Farport who’s name is Karaldic Hamelton (he’s an elf) told us that Korg “wasn’t the nicest person”

Upon meeting Korg we all loved him.

We told him the situation in farport and what we saw on the way here with the temple outpost and found out very quickly that Korg was a Selune worshipper as he had a Selune emblem on him and said “this just got personal” he also told us that no one from Farport has been coming here in about a month and whatnot.

Also he hates Farport mayor- as. All of us do. After shit talking Keraldic to Korg he wished us luck on our journey.

We went around the city for a bit to ask around about questions for the missing merchants and one conversation we heard was “yeah I just bought one the other day, they’re great.” We didn’t get much out of those people.

Orion asked someone if they’d seen “a little black cat” but the person he asked thought he meant a literal cat and not a tabaxi. So no.

We went shopping for a little bit then back out it was.

Session 3/4 because I cannot remember the order of these anymore, but I’ll sure as hell try:

We got back to the Selune outpost and followed the tracks which led up this super jagged mountain, and we all rolled extremely well on climbing so we got up fuckin easy.

We all stayed at the base of it as we watched and saw a goblin camp with the merchants we were supposed to save.

There was this wooden wall that was like 20 ft high, and Orion snuck up there and Miles teleported up there.

And Blooper just kinda.

Hung out on the cliff as he watched us.

Orion and Miles made a plan and then high-fived before Orion climbed back down to tell Blooper what was up, Miles was able to climb ontop the wall and sneak around to where the merchants were.

Blooper had cast light on one of his crossbow bolts and shot it up as a distraction and then cast fog cloud within the little wooden wall area so that Miles wouldn’t be caught.

Miles got down but not without busting his shoulder.

All the merchants were very afraid of him at first as he was able to bust out two of the merchants from their wooden cages, and was coming up with a plan to how to get them out.

Trying to make an exit path there was one person who would see him, so he one shotted them dead and then went back to save the third merchant.

Blooper got caught and decided it’d be a great idea to pop out and try to talk his way out of this.

Spoilers: he couldn’t.

The only person who caught him was the bugbear boss who was seemingly in charge of this whole deal.

After bloopers many attempts to talk his way out of the situation- we went into combat.

Blooper tried to zap the guys off (tempest cleric) but ended up going down twice and lost two of his fingers which made the fog cloud drop, Orion came down and hit the place with some earth tremors and infestations. And Miles was just focused on getting the actual fuck out of there with the merchants.

He got caught by a half orc and a few hobgoblins- the half orc was the same from earlier.

The half orc tried throwing his club at Miles and missed- instead hitting the wooden wall enclosure, which made for a nifty little exit.

Miles tore a peace of his clothing and put an arrow in fire before it hit the wall- setting it on fire before grabbing two of the merchants- the third following behind. Made it outside the now burning and partially broken wall.

If I recall correctly- Blooper was unconscious most of the fight, and Orion was fighting for his life.

Not to worry- help was on the way.

Our kolbold monk named Dragon Deeznutz (his player made it to one session and never came back, but we appreciated him in this fight regardless) Dragon beat the shit out of the half orc, Orion and him had known one another and were boyfriends.

Orion was super low on health but ran over to help Dragon out with tag teaming the half orc.

Blooper. Still fighting for his life- but by a miracle was able to survive (I don’t remember how)

Miles beat the shit out of some people and burned two people alive in the fire. Subtle.

After the fight, Orion went over and proposed to Dragon and he said yes.

Everyone was super tired (other than Miles who only lost like 4 HP during this because he put his hand in a fire)

And we all took a long rest and leveled up!

Orion got his circle and chose land, Miles got his fighting style and did Druidic warrior and I don’t remember Wtf Blooper got.
