‘felting’ and elastics process

I added the elastics, but the ‘felting’ (covering the mask in felt, except mine is not felt, idk what it is) the mask is tricky because of the layers, but Its working!

I will be airbrushing this after it’s done to give it a more metallic look!

SO jazzed about finding this one last night BECAUSE!! It confirms a couple things and those things are fully compatible with my headcanons!

First off, the “inherited the name Kohga” part is already found in Creating a Champion but it’s great to see it stated in officially official game materials.

Second, Kohga remembers inheriting the name. So it wasn’t given to him at birth. It’s now canon that he was at least old enough that he has a memory of it. Now that could support any number of different headcanons about when and how he got the name, of course! But I’m excit~~ed~~ that it supports mine: that the name passes to the new Chief when they meet the requirements to take up the position!

Third, he himself calls the name an inheritance, which suggests it passed to him from someone else rather than it being a name he gave himself at some point (if it was the latter, “took up the name,” or “renamed myself” for example, would’ve been better word choices). “Inherit,” to me at least, tends to infer there was at least one person named Kohga before him. Creating a Champion says, “The current master of the Yiga Clan has inherited the name Kohga.” “Current master” also suggested to me that there has been at least one Master Kohga before Our Best Guy, so that’s how my headcanons go; seeing him actually use the same word, “inherited,” gives a little more support to my ideas and that, too, has me fired up! As you may know I love talking about past Masters Kohga. So hurray, these OCs of mine still fit in with what canon has told me!

Fourth, he says it feels like yesterday but was “so long ago,” which I’m sure a LOT of fans who believe that the Kohga in Age of Calamity and the Kohga in Breath of the Wild are the same guy just in different timelines are stoked about. “So long ago” could mean any long amount of time from a couple decades to centuries, but because both games/timelines are already known to exist, I feel like “TotK Kohga was alive over 100 years ago when the Calamity struck” is the pretty heavy implication here. There’s a joke in AoC that Kohga intends to steal the Thunder Helm “even if it takes 100 years,” so this feels like a further little nod in the same direction. Personally, my Kohga, who lives in the AoC timeline, was 25 when he became Master and was about 50 when the Calamity hit. I headcanon that the BotW/TotK timeline one also followed that pattern and that during the intervening century he figured out a way to extend his longevity. So for me, he’s 150, acts older than the AoC Kohga in some ways but is still more spry than you’d expect at that age, and has had the name Kohga for about 125 years by the time he falls down the Yiga Chasm. That’s a pretty long time, so him saying “so long ago” doesn’t negate my headcanons about my AoC dude’s age or my thoughts about The Other Timeline’s Kohga. It’s great not to get negated, yay!

Fifth he likes his bananas left out for five days to ripen and this is so stupid because I’ve never said this on here (only to my girlfriend) so I can’t prove what I’m about to say but literally that was already my headcanon for how my guy prefers his bananas. They’ve gotta be a least full yellow. They’re sweeter when you leave em for a little extra time. That’s the best way to eat em. Oh my god, what a ridiculous headcanon to get officially confirmed.

I'm drafting a ref sheet for my post-Calamity Astor:

He survived the final battle covered in Malice scars that leave his gray skin matte black, the same color it was when the Malice absorbed him. It changes the color of his right eye and parts of his hair. As it heals the scars fade to a pale gray and his Malice damaged eye stays bright gold. His unscarred skin turns a normal, healthy skin color (no longer gray <3 yippee) and his undamaged eye turns a normal pale hazel. There is a deep pit scar where the gem of the circlet rested on his forehead.

This was a huge departure from the norm for me because I absolutely hate drawing humans BUT it's worth it for this waterlogged corpse <3

So today for Show and Tell I'd like to present the first part of a chapter that takes place shortly after the calamity begins, after what happened in Fort Hateno- that's all the context you're getting so far because I wanna keep all else a ✨️mystery✨️

I would have shared another piece that takes place earlier on in the story but turns out I've already shared quite a few sentences from that one and really all I have to do is edit it then I can post it (I'm not confident that it's good enough yet.. aughhh) so I'm showing this instead

This week I've been challenging myself to slow down and actually do some clean lineart and a crisp, realistic render of my Astor.

Strongly inspired by the style and technique of @changelingsandothernonsense (ik youre planning on posting stuff on Saturday and don't want to interrupt your flow, but consider this a tag if you'd like to share any more wip <3)

Ive been pulling from what feels like a billion references (its only like 6) to nail his facial features and the lighting

Still quite early on but I feel like im learning a lot as I go!

Last week I really said I was gonna have this whole arm done for this week, guess what did not happen :P But progress is progress <3 Since I'm still in the beginning, I put him in a smaller frame so I could work more easily.

I did however make a lot of progress on a fic and I'm hoping to get it done soon so have some of my new girl Cordelia because someone's gotta serve Daddy issues <3 Here she is with Dwemer nerd Neramo from ESO becuase he needs love <3 Under the cut for length:

“Cordelia,” he begins. Searching for a way to tell her gently as among all the wonderful things he thinks of her: bright, clever, capable, that she is also too young. It would not be right, her acting as his assistant, him intending to keep her in the position undergoing an exhibition merely the two of them. That even with her mixed-heritage shortening her life span in comparison, he will die before her. She should not waste her precious life on an old mer, not someone who decided well before she was born that he was married to his work. “You are very lovely.” Now meeting his eyes, he hesitates before continuing, it was unfair to tell those deep brown eyes no. It’s for her own good. She will have no trouble finding another. Whether or not he would struggle upon learning she was with someone else, remains unclear. “But I do not think this is a good idea.” When the tears begin to well in her eyes, he has already removed his hand, but the sight of her like this has him tempted to return it. At least to provide her comfort, not doing so out of fear it would make it harder. 

“But why not? You said I was lovely!” Though the cathedral is mostly empty on the Tirdus afternoon, her voice raised at such a pitch that the few around turn to look at them. Oh no.

“And you are! And if I was a century younger-” 

“Is that what you're worried about?” Of course it was, she is far from simple-minded, how is that not the most obvious detail? “Because I do not care.” 

There were many problems Neramo expected to deal with in later middle age, aching joints, difficulty sleeping, the fact his eyesight was not as good as it used to be. However, he never expected a young woman throwing herself at him to be among them. Yet, Cordelia’s words are having an effect on him, it was taking great strength to do what was right. Especially when he was the only one who thought it was, this much is further proven with what she says next. 

“It’s preferable, actually.” A greater blush on her face but she doesn’t duck away at these words, ones that only confuse him further.

“Preferable?” 

“Well, mer my age think they know everything but they don’t even know how to treat a lady.” The singsong sound of her giggling is heard. “And the men, the men… if you do not have anything nice to say then…”  Notably she is silent. 

“Are you equating age with experience?” How terrible it would be for her to reject him instead, finding out that it has been so long that he may have just as much knowledge left as those young mer did. 

“I know you’re not stupid, I know that very well.” Now, the young woman batted her eyes at him. An action which is almost unnecessary, as Neramo can feel himself taking her side. The counterarguments he continues to offer more to verify that this is indeed what she wants.

 “I’ll have you know it has been a long time since I have been involved with someone.” Their hands remain clasped and she moves, closing the gap between their bodies as such that their legs are touching, layers of robes between them yet the touch still ignites him. A fire fed inside him, one he didn’t know still hungered, lying dormant due to neglect. Had he considered the possibility that she also harboured some… affection for him, it might not be sending him spinning as much as it is. But he was a scholar, he was not trained to think of such impossibilities. Thus, he is proven wrong. 

“You’ve still got it.” He gains flush to match hers. 

“Ah, but I never really had it.”

Derpy is so derpy the flower pot scene killed meeeeeee. Also I love the bird so much. So fashionable

THEYRE SO MUCH CUTER AS DEMONS RAAAAAAH. One of my friends (the one who'd seen it before and was showing us it) was like "okay you gotta tell me which boy you gravitate towards most" but for like the first half I struggled to pick a fav (I really *wanted* to like mystery bc purple edgy whatever) but they were all so glaringly pastel and sweatered up that i couldn't :(

Most basic answer but I think Jinu was my fav of the guys just bc of the character development/extra attention he got (i think id heard about the others representing toxic parts of idol culture but I totally forgot- that makes loads of sense). Also just love the starkness of his dark hair against all the aforementioned pastels. Once they switched to the darker colors AND THEN DEMON MODE their vibes were (ironically) so much better i love.

I loved all the Huntrix girls sm omg. They were so funny and dynamic and their entrance at the very beginning was SO dramatic hell yeah queens slice demons (and your plane) in half and jump out of the sky. Hard to pick a fav bc theyre all so iconic (the exact opposite issue i had with the guys LMAO). Rumi obviously got the most backstory and I really like her. But I also love the other girls??? I love how they all have different weapons especially Mira's Vector .45 ACP submachine gun cool sword on a stick. I felt like all the different weapons really fit their characters well and loved seeing their fighting styles

I'll need to relisten bc right now the only songs I can remember are Golden and Idol but love both of those. From an aesthetics standpoint I liked Idol sm (demons!!!! Yay!!!! No more pastels!!!!) but the actual oomph of Golden hit harder i think. It was really really sweet and good and I love

Verdict: HELL YEAH.

More in depth analysis: I REALLY enjoyed it. Like from beginning to end it hooked me. The visuals? STUNNING. The music? Catchy. The vibes? Impeccable

(Except for Abby oh my god whyyyyyyy. Put those away, sir 😭)/j

Once the movie finished and we were doing the "post viewing debrief" there were definitely some pacing issues/narrative gaps that I would have loved to see filled (like, how did her mom and dad meet? What's up with Celine and did they ever actually get stuff sorted out? Are the people whose souls got got fully dead (which would be fine im just curious))

But while watching the movie, it was so dynamic and engaging that I didn't notice ANY of those things. I was fully along for the ride, and having a great time. And thats the biggest part I think. Good movie. Very much enjoyed.

Also!!! BOBBYYYYYYYYYYY MY LOVE. SO ICONIC AAAAAAH
